Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye My people, saith your God.
Da consuelo, dale consuelo a mi pueblo, dice tu Dios.
2 Bid Jerusalem take heart, and proclaim unto her, that her time of service is accomplished, that her guilt is paid off; that she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
Digan palabras amables al corazón de Jerusalén diganle a ella que su tiempo de angustia ha terminado, que su castigo es completo; que ya ha recibido por la mano del Señor dos veces por todos sus pecados.
3 Hark! one calleth: 'Clear ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make plain in the desert a highway for our God.
Voz de uno que clama: Preparen el camino en el desierto, el camino del Señor, nivela el camino en el desierto para nuestro Dios supremo.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain;
Todo valle sea elevado, y toda montaña y cada colina sean reducidas, y los lugares torcidos se enderezan, y lo abrupto se allane.
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.'
Y la gloria del Señor será revelada, y toda carne la verá junta, porque la boca del Señor lo ha dicho.
6 Hark! one saith: 'Proclaim!' And he saith: 'What shall I proclaim?' 'All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field;
Una voz de uno que dice: ¡Da un grito! Y respondí: ¿Qué debo gritar? Toda carne es hierba, y toda su fuerza como la flor del campo.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the LORD bloweth upon it — surely the people is grass.
La hierba se seca, la flor está muerta; porque el aliento del Señor sopla sobre ella. verdaderamente la gente es hierba.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.'
La hierba está seca, la flor se muere; Pero la palabra de nuestro Dios es eterna.
9 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain; O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah: 'Behold your God!'
Tú, que das buenas noticias a Sión, sube a la montaña alta; tú, que das buenas nuevas a Jerusalén, que tu voz sea fuerte; Que suene sin miedo. Di a los pueblos de Judá: Mira, tu Dios.
10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a Mighty One, and His arm will rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.
Mira, el Señor Dios vendrá fuerte, gobernando con poder; mira, aquellos que él ha liberado están con él, y los que él ha salvado van delante de él.
11 Even as a shepherd that feedeth his flock, that gathereth the lambs in his arm, and carrieth them in his bosom, and gently leadeth those that give suck.
Él dará comida a su rebaño como un guardián de ovejas; con su brazo lo juntará, y tomará los corderos en su pecho, guiando suavemente a los que están recién paridos.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
¿Quién ha medido en el hueco de su mano las aguas? ¿Y quién puede calcular la extensión de los cielos con sus dedos extendidos? ¿Quién ha reunido el polvo de la tierra en una medida? ¿Quién ha tomado el peso de las montañas, o ha puesto las colinas en las escalas?
13 Who hath meted out the spirit of the LORD? Or who was His counsellor that he might instruct Him?
¿Por quién ha sido guiado el espíritu del Señor, o quién ha sido su maestro?
14 With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right, and taught Him knowledge, and made Him to know the way of discernment?
. ¿Quién le dio sugerencias y le explicó el camino correcto? ¿Quién le dio conocimiento, guiándolo en el camino de la sabiduría?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance; behold the isles are as a mote in weight.
Mira, las naciones son para él como una gota un cubo, y como un grano de polvo en las balanzas: desaparece las islas como polvo fino.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient fuel, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for burnt-offerings.
Y el Líbano no es suficiente para hacer un fuego, o todo su ganado es suficiente para una ofrenda quemada.
17 All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are accounted by Him as things of nought, and vanity.
Todas las naciones son como nada delante de él; Incluso menos que nada, una cosa sin valor.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?
Entonces, ¿a quién se parece a Dios, en tu opinión? ¿O a qué imagen es en comparación con él?
19 The image perchance, which the craftsman hath melted, and the goldsmith spread over with gold, the silversmith casting silver chains?
El obrero hace una imagen, y el joyero pone placas de oro sobre ella, y hace bandas de plata para ella.
20 A holm-oak is set apart, he chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning craftsman to set up an image, that shall not be moved.
Él que es pobre para tal ofrenda; busca un sabio artesano para erigir una imagen, de una madera que no se pudra; para que la imagen pueda ser fijada y no ser movida.
21 Know ye not? hear ye not? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood the foundations of the earth?
¿No tienes conocimiento de ello? ¿No ha llegado a tus oídos? ¿No se les ha dado noticias de esto desde el principio? ¿no ha sido claro para ustedes desde el momento en que la tierra se colocó en su base?
22 It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Es el que está sentado sobre el arco de la tierra, y las personas en él son tan pequeñas como los saltamontes; junto a él, los cielos se extienden como un arco, y se alistan como una tienda para vivir.
23 That bringeth princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as a thing of nought.
Él hace que los gobernantes se queden en la nada; Los jueces de la tierra no tienen valor.
24 Scarce are they planted, scarce are they sown, scarce hath their stock taken root in the earth; when He bloweth upon them, they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble.
Solo ahora han sido plantados, y su semilla ha sido puesta en la tierra, y que apenas han echado raíces, cuando él lanza su aliento sobre ellos y se secan, y el viento de tormenta los quita como la hierba seca.
25 To whom then will ye liken Me, that I should be equal? saith the Holy One.
¿Con Quién entonces me comparan; Quien te parece mi igual? dice el Santo.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see: who hath created these? He that bringeth out their host by number, He calleth them all by name; by the greatness of His might, and for that He is strong in power, not one faileth.
Levanten sus ojos en lo alto, y vean: ¿quién los ha hecho? El que hace salir en orden a su ejército numerado; que tiene conocimiento de todos sus nombres; por cuya gran fuerza, porque él es fuerte en poder, todos ellos están en su lugar.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: 'My way is hid from the LORD, and my right is passed over from my God'?
¿Por qué dices, oh Jacob, palabras como éstas, oh Israel, que los ojos del Señor no están en mi camino, y mi Dios no presta atención a mi causa?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out.
¿No tienes conocimiento de ello? ¿No ha llegado a tus oídos? El Dios eterno, el Señor, el Creador de los confines de la tierra, nunca es débil ni cansado; su sabiduría es infinita.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength.
Él le da poder a los débiles, aumentando la fuerza de quien no tiene fuerza.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;
Incluso los jóvenes se volverán débiles y cansados, y el mejor de ellos llegará al final de su fortaleza;
31 But they that wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
Pero los que esperan al Señor tendrán nuevas fuerzas; obtendrán alas como las águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán, caminarán, y no se fatigarán.
