Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye My people, saith your God.
Consolae, consolae o meu povo, diz o vosso Deus.
2 Bid Jerusalem take heart, and proclaim unto her, that her time of service is accomplished, that her guilt is paid off; that she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
Fallae benignamente a Jerusalem, e bradae-lhe que já a sua malicia é acabada, que já a sua iniquidade está expiada e que já recebeu em dobro da mão do Senhor, por todos os seus peccados.
3 Hark! one calleth: 'Clear ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make plain in the desert a highway for our God.
Voz do que clama no deserto: Apparelhae o caminho do Senhor: endireitae no ermo vereda a nosso Deus.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain;
Todo o valle será exaltado, e todo o monte e todo o outeiro serão abatidos: e o torcido se endireitará, e o aspero se aplainará.
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.'
E a gloria do Senhor se manifestará, e toda a carne juntamente verá que a bocca do Senhor o disse.
6 Hark! one saith: 'Proclaim!' And he saith: 'What shall I proclaim?' 'All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field;
Voz que diz: Clama; e disse: Que hei de clamar? Toda a carne é herva e toda a sua benignidade como as flores do campo.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the LORD bloweth upon it — surely the people is grass.
Secca-se a herva, e caem as flores, soprando n'ellas o Espirito do Senhor. Na verdade que herva é o povo.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.'
Secca-se a herva, e caem as flores, porém a palavra de nosso Deus subsiste eternamente.
9 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain; O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah: 'Behold your God!'
Ah Sião, annunciadora de boas novas, sobe tu a um monte alto. Ah Jerusalem, annunciadora de boas novas, levanta a tua voz fortemente; levanta-a, não temas, e dize ás cidades de Judah: Eis aqui está o vosso Deus.
10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a Mighty One, and His arm will rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.
Eis que o Senhor Jehovah virá contra o forte, e o seu braço se assenhoreará d'elle: eis que o seu galardão vem com elle, e o seu salario diante da sua face.
11 Even as a shepherd that feedeth his flock, that gathereth the lambs in his arm, and carrieth them in his bosom, and gently leadeth those that give suck.
Como pastor apascentará o seu rebanho; entre os seus braços recolherá os cordeirinhos, e os levará no seu seio: as paridas guiará suavemente.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Quem mediu com o seu punho as aguas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos, e recolheu na maior medida o pó da terra e pesou os montes com peso e os outeiros em balanças?
13 Who hath meted out the spirit of the LORD? Or who was His counsellor that he might instruct Him?
Quem guiou o Espirito do Senhor? e que conselheiro o ensinou?
14 With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right, and taught Him knowledge, and made Him to know the way of discernment?
Com quem tomou conselho, que lhe desse entendimento, e lhe ensinasse o caminho do juizo? lhe ensinasse sabedoria, e lhe fizesse notorio o caminho da sciencia?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance; behold the isles are as a mote in weight.
Eis que as nações são consideradas por elle como a gota d'um balde, e como o pó miudo das balanças: eis que lança por ahi as ilhas como a pó miudo.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient fuel, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for burnt-offerings.
Nem todo o Libano basta para o fogo, nem os seus animaes bastam para holocaustos.
17 All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are accounted by Him as things of nought, and vanity.
Todas as nações são como nada perante elle; e as reputa por menos que nada e como uma coisa vã
18 To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?
A quem pois fareis similhante a Deus? ou que similhança lhe apropriareis?
19 The image perchance, which the craftsman hath melted, and the goldsmith spread over with gold, the silversmith casting silver chains?
O artifice funde a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de oiro, e cadeias de prata lhe funde.
20 A holm-oak is set apart, he chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning craftsman to set up an image, that shall not be moved.
O empobrecido, que já não tem que offerecer, escolhe madeira que não se corrompe: artifice sabio se busca, para apparelhar uma imagem que se não possa mover.
21 Know ye not? hear ye not? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood the foundations of the earth?
Porventura não sabeis? porventura não ouvis? ou desde o principio se vos não notificou? ou não attentastes para os fundamentos da terra?
22 It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Elle é o que está assentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são para elle como gafanhotos: elle é o que estende os céus como cortina, e os desenrola como tenda, para habitar n'elles:
23 That bringeth princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as a thing of nought.
O que torna em nada os principes, e faz como em coisa vã os juizes da terra.
24 Scarce are they planted, scarce are they sown, scarce hath their stock taken root in the earth; when He bloweth upon them, they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble.
E nem se plantam, nem se semeiam, nem se arraiga na terra o seu tronco cortado, e n'elles, soprando, se seccaram, e um tufão como pragana os levará.
25 To whom then will ye liken Me, that I should be equal? saith the Holy One.
A quem pois me fareis similhante, que lhe seja similhante? diz o Sancto.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see: who hath created these? He that bringeth out their host by number, He calleth them all by name; by the greatness of His might, and for that He is strong in power, not one faileth.
Levantae ao alto os vossos olhos, e vede quem creou estas coisas, quem produz por conta o seu exercito, quem a todas chama pelos seus nomes; por causa da grandeza das suas forças, e porquanto é forte em poder, nenhuma d'ellas vem a faltar.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: 'My way is hid from the LORD, and my right is passed over from my God'?
Porque pois dizes, ó Jacob, e tu fallas, ó Israel: O meu caminho está encoberto ao Senhor, e o meu juizo passa de largo pelo meu Deus?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out.
Porventura não sabes, porventura não ouviste que o eterno Deus, o Senhor, o Creador dos fins da terra, nem se cança nem se fatiga? não ha esquadrinhação do seu entendimento.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength.
Dá esforço ao cançado, e multiplica as forças ao que não tem nenhum vigor.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;
Os moços se cançarão e se fatigarão, e os mancebos certamente cairão.
31 But they that wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
Mas os que esperam no Senhor renovarão as forças, subirão com azas como aguias: correrão, e não se cançarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.
