Isaiah 38
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him: 'Thus saith the LORD: Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.'
Zu jener Zeit ward Hiskia todkrank. Da kam zu ihm der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, und sprach zu ihm: So spricht Jahwe: Bestelle dein Haus, denn du wirst sterben und nicht genesen!
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Da wandte Hiskia sein Antlitz zur Wand, betete zu Jahwe
3 and said: 'Remember now, O LORD, I beseech Thee, how I have walked before Thee in truth and with a whole heart, and have done that which is good in Thy sight.' And Hezekiah wept sore.
und sprach: Ach, Jahwe, gedenke doch, daß ich treulich und mit ungeteiltem Herzen vor deinem Angesichte gewandelt und gethan habe, was dir wohlgefällt! Und Hiskia brach in lautes Weinen aus.
4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying:
Da erging das Wort Jahwes an Jesaja folgendermaßen:
5 'Go, and say to Hezekiah: Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears; behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
Geh' und sage Hiskia: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott deines Ahnherrn David: Ich habe dein Gebet gehört und deine Thränen gesehen. So will ich denn zu deinen Lebenstagen noch fünfzehn Jahre hinzufügen.
6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.
Dazu will ich dich und diese Stadt aus der Gewalt des Königs von Assyrien erretten und will diese Stadt beschirmen.
7 And this shall be the sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that He hath spoken:
Und dies diene dir als Wahrzeichen von Jahwe, daß Jahwe ausführen wird, was er verheißen hat:
8 behold, I will cause the shadow of the dial, which is gone down on the sun-dial of Ahaz, to return backward ten degrees.' So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
Ich will den Schatten so viele Stufen, als die Sonne am Sonnenzeiger des Ahas bereits herabgestiegen ist, wieder rückwärts gehen lassen, zehn Stufen; da ging die Sonne die zehn Stufen, die sie am Sonnenzeiger herabgestiegen war, wieder zurück.
9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.
Ein Schriftstück Hiskias, des Königs von Juda, als er krank ward und von seiner Krankheit genas.
10 I said: In the noontide of my days I shall go, even to the gates of the nether-world; I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)
Ich sprach: Im ruhigen Laufe meiner Tage muß ich in die Thore der Unterwelt eingehen, werde ich des Restes meiner Lebensjahre beraubt. (Sheol h7585)
11 I said: I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD in the land of the living; I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
Ich sprach: Nicht werde ich länger Jah schauen, Jah im Lande der Lebendigen, nicht mehr Menschen erblicken bei den Bewohnern des Totenreichs.
12 My habitation is plucked up and carried away from me as a shepherd's tent; I have rolled up like a weaver my life; He will cut me off from the thrum; from day even to night wilt Thou make an end of me.
Meine Wohnung ist abgebrochen und von mir fortgewandert wie ein Hirtenzelt. Gleich einem Weber habe ich mein Leben aufgewickelt; er schneidet mich ab vom Trumm: ehe noch die Nacht dem Tage folgt, machst du es aus mit mir.
13 The more I make myself like unto a lion until morning, the more it breaketh all my bones; from day even to night wilt Thou make an end of me.
Ich schrie um Hilfe: bis zum Morgen zermalmt er wie ein Löwe alle meine Gebeine; ehe noch die Nacht dem Tage folgt, machst du es aus mit mir!
14 Like a swallow or a crane, so do I chatter, I do moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward. O LORD, I am oppressed, be Thou my surety.
Wie eine Schwalbe, ein Kranich zwitscherte ich, girrte wie eine Taube. Es thränten meine Augen himmelwärts: Jahwe! bedrängt bin ich - tritt für mich ein!
15 What shall I say? He hath both spoken unto me, and Himself hath done it; I shall go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul.
Was soll ich sprechen, nachdem er nun zu mir geredet und er es ausgeführt hat! Alle meine Jahre soll ich ruhig dahinwallen trotz der Bekümmernis meiner Seele!
16 O Lord, by these things men live, and altogether therein is the life of my spirit; wherefore recover Thou me, and make me to live.
O Herr, davon lebt man und ganz steht darin das Leben meines Geistes, und du wirst mich gesund machen und wieder aufleben lassen.
17 Behold, for my peace I had great bitterness; but Thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back.
Fürwahr, zu meinem Heil widerfuhr mir Bitteres, ja Bitteres! Aber du bewahrtest mein Leben vor der Grube der Vernichtung, denn du warfst alle meine Sünden hinter dich!
18 For the nether-world cannot praise Thee, death cannot celebrate Thee; they that go down into the pit cannot hope for Thy truth. (Sheol h7585)
Denn nicht dankt dir die Unterwelt, nicht preist dich der Tod; nicht harren die in die Gruft Hinabgestiegenen auf deine Treue. (Sheol h7585)
19 The living, the living, he shall praise Thee, as I do this day; the father to the children shall make known Thy truth.
Der Lebende, der Lebende - er dankt dir, wie ich heute; der Vater macht den Söhnen deine Treue kund.
20 The LORD is ready to save me; therefore we will sing songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
Jahwe ist bereit, mir zu helfen: So laßt uns denn die Saiten rühren all' unsere Lebenstage beim Tempel Jahwes!
21 And Isaiah said: 'Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.'
Darauf befahl Jesaja, ein Pflaster von Feigen zu bringen und auf das Geschwür zu streichen, damit er genese.
22 And Hezekiah said. 'What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?'
