Isaiah 36

1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

ହିଜକୀୟ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ରାଜତ୍ଵର ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦଶ ବର୍ଷରେ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜା ସନ୍‍‌‌ହେରୀବ ଯିହୁଦାର ପ୍ରାଚୀର-ବେଷ୍ଟିତ ନଗରସବୁର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଆସି ତାହାସବୁ ହସ୍ତଗତ କଲା।

2 And the king of Assyria sent Rab-shakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fullers' field.

ତହିଁରେ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜା ରବ୍‍ଶାକିକୁ ମହାସୈନ୍ୟ ସହିତ ଲାଖୀଶ୍‍ଠାରୁ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ହିଜକୀୟ ରାଜା ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଲା। ଆଉ, ସେ ରଜକର କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ପଥସ୍ଥିତ ଉପର ପୁଷ୍କରିଣୀର ନାଳ ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲା।

3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

ତେବେ ହିଲ୍‍କୀୟର ପୁତ୍ର ଇଲିୟାକୀମ୍‍ ନାମକ ରାଜଗୃହାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ, ଶିବ୍‍ନ ଲେଖକ ଓ ଆସଫର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋୟାହ ନାମକ ଇତିହାସ ଲେଖକ ବାହାର ହୋଇ ତାହା ନିକଟକୁ ଆସିଲେ।

4 And Rab-shakeh said unto them: 'Say ye now to Hezekiah: Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

ତହିଁରେ ରବ୍‍ଶାକି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ଏବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ହିଜକୀୟକୁ କୁହ, ‘ମହାରାଜ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜା ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି ଯେଉଁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରୁଅଛ, ତାହା କିରୂପ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ?

5 I said: It is but vain words; for counsel and strength are for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?

ମୁଁ କହୁଅଛି, ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ଓ ବଳ କେବଳ ବୃଥା କଥା; ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାହା ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରି ମୋହର ବିଦ୍ରୋହୀ ହୋଇଅଛ?

6 Behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it; so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust on him.

ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି ଛେଚାନଳର ଯଷ୍ଟି ରୂପ ମିସର ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରୁଅଛ; ମାତ୍ର କେହି ତହିଁ ଉପରେ ଆଉଜିଲେ, ତାହା ତାହାର ହାତରେ ପଶି ଫୋଡ଼ି ପକାଇବ; ଯେଉଁମାନେ ମିସରୀୟ ରାଜା ଫାରୋ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର ରଖନ୍ତି, ସେସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ସେ ତ ଏହି ପ୍ରକାର।

7 But if thou say unto me: We trust in the LORD our God; is not that He, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem: Ye shall worship before this altar?

ମାତ୍ର ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ କୁହ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର ରଖୁଅଛୁ; ତେବେ ହିଜକୀୟ ଯାହାଙ୍କ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ଥଳୀ ଓ ଯାହାଙ୍କ ଯଜ୍ଞବେଦିସବୁ ଦୂର କରିଦେଇଅଛି, ଆଉ ଯିହୁଦାକୁ ଓ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ କହିଅଛି, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି ଯଜ୍ଞବେଦି ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରିବ, ସେ କʼଣ ସେହି ନୁହନ୍ତି?

8 Now therefore, I pray thee, make a wager with my master, the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

ଏହେତୁ ମୁଁ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ମୋʼ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ପଣ କର, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଦୁଇ ହଜାର ଅଶ୍ୱ ଦେବି, ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପାର, ତେବେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଚଢ଼ିବା ପାଇଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଆଡ଼ୁ ଲୋକ ଆଣ।

9 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain, even of the least of my master's servants? yet thou puttest thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen!

ତେବେ କିପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋʼ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଏକ କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ରତମ ସେନାପତିକୁ ବିମୁଖ କରି ପାରିବ, ଆଉ ରଥ ଓ ଅଶ୍ୱାରୋହୀ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମିସର ଉପରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରିବ?

10 And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said unto me: Go up against this land, and destroy it.'

ମୁଁ କʼଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବିନା ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଧ୍ୱଂସ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଅଛି? ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋତେ କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଦେଶ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯାଇ ତାହା ଧ୍ୱଂସ କର।’”

11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rab-shakeh: 'Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Aramean language, for we understand it; and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.'

ଏଥିରେ ଇଲିୟାକୀମ୍‍, ଶିବ୍‍ନ ଓ ଯୋୟାହ ରବ୍‍ଶାକିକୁ କହିଲେ, “ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛୁ, ଆପଣ ଅରାମୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ଆପଣା ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ କୁହନ୍ତୁ; କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହା ବୁଝୁଅଛୁ; ପୁଣି, ପ୍ରାଚୀରର ଉପରିସ୍ଥ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ନ କୁହନ୍ତୁ।”

12 But Rab-shakeh said: 'Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?'

ମାତ୍ର ରବ୍‍ଶାକି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ମୋʼ ପ୍ରଭୁ କି ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ ଏହିସବୁ କଥା କହିବା ପାଇଁ ମୋତେ ପଠାଇଅଛନ୍ତି? ଏହି ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ବିଷ୍ଠା ଖାଇବାକୁ ଓ ମୂତ୍ର ପିଇବାକୁ ପ୍ରାଚୀର ଉପରେ ବସିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ କʼଣ ମୋତେ ପଠାଇ ନାହାନ୍ତି?”

13 Then Rab-shakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said: 'Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.

ତହୁଁ ରବ୍‍ଶାକି ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଯିହୁଦୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ଏହି କଥା କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମହାରାଜ ଅଶୂରର ରାଜାଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣ।

14 Thus saith the king: Let not Hezekiah beguile you, for he will not be able to deliver you;

ରାଜା ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ‘ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭୁଲାଇବା ପାଇଁ ହିଜକୀୟକୁ ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ;

15 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying: The LORD will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

କିଅବା ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିବେ ଓ ଏହି ନଗର ଅଶୂରୀୟ ରାଜାର ହସ୍ତଗତ ହେବ ନାହିଁ, ଏହି କଥା କହି ହିଜକୀୟ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ନ କରାଉ।

16 Hearken not to Hezekiah; for thus saith the king of Assyria: Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

ହିଜକୀୟର କଥା ଶୁଣ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ଅଶୂରୀୟ ରାଜା ଏହି କଥା କୁହନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମୋʼ ସଙ୍ଗେ ସନ୍ଧି କର ଓ ମୋʼ କତିକି ବାହାରି ଆସ ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାଫଳ ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଡିମ୍ବିରି ଫଳ ଭୋଜନ କର, ଆଉ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କୂପ ଜଳ ପାନ କର;

17 until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

ଶେଷରେ ମୁଁ ଆସି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ସ୍ୱଦେଶ ତୁଲ୍ୟ ଏକ ଦେଶକୁ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍‍, ଶସ୍ୟ ଓ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସମୟ ଦେଶ, ଆଉ ରୁଟି ଓ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାକ୍ଷେତ୍ରମୟ ଦେଶକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ନେଇଯିବି।

18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying: The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିବେ ବୋଲି କହି ହିଜକୀୟ ଯେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ନ ମଣାଏ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସାବଧାନ ହୁଅ। ନାନା ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ଦେବତାଗଣ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କୌଣସି ଦେବତା କʼଣ ଅଶୂରୀୟ ରାଜା ହସ୍ତରୁ ଆପଣା ଦେଶ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିଅଛି?

19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

ହମାତର ଓ ଅର୍ପଦର ଦେବତାମାନେ କାହାନ୍ତି? ସଫର୍ବୟିମର ଦେବତାମାନେ କାହାନ୍ତି? ଓ ସେମାନେ କʼଣ ମୋʼ ହସ୍ତରୁ ଶମରୀୟାକୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିଅଛନ୍ତି?

20 Who are they among all the gods of these countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'

ଏହିସବୁ ଦେଶର ଦେବତାଗଣ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେଉଁ ଦେବତାମାନେ ମୋʼ ହସ୍ତରୁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କର ଦେଶ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ଯେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମୋʼ ହସ୍ତରୁ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କରିବେ?’”

21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, saying: 'Answer him not.'

ମାତ୍ର ଲୋକମାନେ ନୀରବ ହୋଇ ରହିଲେ, ତାହାକୁ ପଦେ ମାତ୍ର ଉତ୍ତର କଲେ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ତାହାକୁ ଉତ୍ତର ନ ଦିଅ ବୋଲି ରାଜାର ଆଜ୍ଞା ଥିଲା।

22 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.

ତହିଁରେ ହିଲ୍‍କୀୟର ପୁତ୍ର ଇଲିୟାକୀମ୍‍ ନାମକ ରାଜଗୃହାଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ଓ ଶିବ୍‍ନ ଲେଖକ ଓ ଆସଫର ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋୟାହ ନାମକ ଇତିହାସ ଲେଖକ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରି ହିଜକୀୟ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସି ରବ୍‍ଶାକିର କଥାସବୁ ତାହାକୁ ଜଣାଇଲେ।
