Isaiah 20

1 In the year that Tartan came into Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it;

No ano em que o general enviado por Sargom, rei da Assíria, veio a Asdode, guerreou contra Asdode, e a tomou,

2 at that time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying: 'Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put thy shoe from off thy foot.' And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

Naquele tempo o SENHOR falou por meio de Isaías, filho de Amoz, dizendo: Vai, tira a roupa de saco de teus lombos, e descalça a sandália de teus pés. E assim ele fez, andando nu e descalço.

3 And the LORD said: 'Like as My servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot to be for three years a sign and a wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia,

Então o SENHOR disse: Assim como meu servo Isaías anda nu e descalço, [como] sinal e presságio relativo ao Egito e a Cuxe,

4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt, and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

assim o rei da Assíria levará em cativeiro a prisioneiros do Egito e a prisioneiros de Cuxe, tanto jovens, como velhos, nus e descalços, e descobertas as nádegas, para envergonhar ao Egito.

5 And they shall be dismayed and ashamed, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

E terão medo e vergonha por causa de Cuxe, em quem esperavam, e por causa do Egito, no qual se orgulhavam.

6 And the inhabitant of this coast-land shall say in that day: Behold, such is our expectation, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?'

E os moradores do litoral dirão naquele dia: Vede [o que houve com] aqueles em quem esperávamos, a quem buscávamos socorro, para nos livrarmos da presença do rei da Assíria! E [agora], como escaparemos?
