Hosea 11
1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.
Quand Israël était enfant, je l'aimai, et de l'Egypte j'appelai mon fils.
2 The more they called them, the more they went from them; they sacrificed unto the Baalim, and offered to graven images.
Quand [mes serviteurs] leur faisaient des appels, ils se détournaient d'eux, aux Baals ils sacrifiaient et aux idoles ils offraient de l'encens.
3 And I, I taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
Cependant je menai Éphraïm à la lisière, le soutenant par ses bras; mais ils ne reconnurent point que je voulais les guérir.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love; and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I fed them gently.
Je les tirai avec des liens d'humanité, avec des cordages d'amour, je fus pour eux comme quelqu'un qui desserre le joug près de leur bouche, j'étendis la main et leur donnai à manger.
5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
Ils ne retourneront pas en Egypte, mais c'est l'Assyrien qui sera leur roi, puisqu'ils ne veulent pas revenir à moi.
6 And the sword shall fall upon his cities, and shall consume his bars, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
Et l'épée fondra sur leurs villes, et détruira leurs verrous, et dévorera à cause du parti qu'ils ont pris.
7 And My people are in suspense about returning to Me; and though they call them upwards, none at all will lift himself up.
Mon peuple s'applique à s'éloigner de moi; c'est aux lieux très hauts qu'on les convie, mais nul ne s'y élève.
8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? How shall I surrender thee, Israel? How shall I make thee as Admah? How shall I set thee as Zeboim? My heart is turned within Me, My compassions are kindled together.
Comment dois-je te traiter, Éphraïm? en agir avec toi, Israël? Quoi! dois-je te traiter comme Adma, t'assimiler à Tséboïm? Mon cœur se retourne en moi, toutes mes compassions s'allument;
9 I will not execute the fierceness of Mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim; for I am God, and not man, the Holy One in the midst of thee; and I will not come in fury.
je ne donnerai pas suite à l'ardeur de mon courroux; je ne détruirai pas de nouveau Éphraïm. car je suis Dieu et non pas un homme! je suis le Saint au milieu de toi, et je ne viens point avec colère.
10 They shall walk after the LORD, who shall roar like a lion; for He shall roar, and the children shall come trembling from the west.
A la fin ils suivront l'Éternel; comme un lion Il rugira; car Il rugira, et de l'occident les fils accourront,
11 They shall come trembling as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will make them to dwell in their houses, saith the LORD.
ils accourront comme des oiseaux de l'Egypte, et comme la colombe du pays d'Assyrie, et je les ferai habiter dans leurs maisons, dit l'Éternel.
12 Ephraim compasseth Me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; and Judah is yet wayward towards God, and towards the Holy One who is faithful.
Éphraïm m'entoure de mensonge, et la maison d'Israël de fraude, et Juda court encore de côtés et d'autres, quoiqu'il ait Dieu, qu'il ait le Saint fidèle.
