< Haggai 1 >

1 IN THE second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying:
Ozi Onyenwe anyị, nke rutere Hegai onye amụma, nke o ziri Zerubabel nwa Shealtiel, onye na-achị Juda, na Joshua nwa Jehozadak, onyeisi nchụaja. Ozi a rutere ya nʼafọ nke abụọ nke ọchịchị eze Daraiọs, nʼụbọchị nke mbụ nʼọnwa nke isii.
2 'Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying: This people say: The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.'
Ihe ndị a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu, “Ndị a na-asị, ‘Nʼoge ahụ erubeghị mgbe anyị ga-ewu ụlọnsọ ukwu Onyenwe anyị.’”
3 Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying:
Mgbe ahụ, okwu Onyenwe anyị bịara site nʼọnụ Hegai, onye amụma na-asị,
4 'Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your cieled houses, while this house lieth waste?
“Nke a ọ bụ oge unu onwe unu ji ebi nʼụlọ unu e ji osisi machie, mgbe ụlọnsọ ukwu a nọgidere na-adakpọsị?”
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways.
Ugbu a, ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu, “Lezienụ ụzọ unu anya.
6 Ye have sown much, and brought in little, ye eat, but ye have not enough, ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink, ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages for a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways.
Ihe a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile na-ekwu, “Chezienụ echiche banyere ndụ unu.
8 Go up to the hill-country, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
Jeenụ nʼelu ugwu, wedata osisi, jiri ya wuo ụlọnsọ ukwu ahụ. Mgbe ahụ, obi ga-atọ m ụtọ na ya, a ga-asọpụkwara m nʼebe ahụ.” Ọ bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị kwuru.
9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of My house that lieth waste, while ye run every man for his own house.
“Unu na-ele anya ihe ukwu, ma lee, ọ bụ naanị ihe ntakịrị ka ọ pụtara. Mgbe unu welatara ha nʼụlọ, a fụfụsiri m ha niile. Nke a ọ bụ nʼihi gịnị?” Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị, Onye pụrụ ime ihe niile kwupụtara. “Ọ bụ nʼihi na ụlọnsọ ukwu m, nke nọgidere na-abụ mkpọmkpọ ebe, ma onye ọbụla nʼime unu na-agba mbọ ịrụ naanị ihe gbasara ụlọ nke aka ya.
10 Therefore over you the heaven hath kept back, so that there is no dew, and the earth hath kept back her produce.
Ya mere, nʼihi unu ka eluigwe ji jide igirigi ha, ala ejidekwala ihe omume nke ubi.
11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.'
Akpọọla m ka okpomọkụ bịakwasị nʼala ubi niile nakwa nʼelu ugwu niile, nʼelu ọka na mmanya ọhụrụ, mmanụ oliv na ihe niile nke ala na-emepụta. Ka ọ bịakwasị mmadụ na anụmanụ niile, nakwa ihe niile unu dọgburu onwe unu nʼọrụ inweta.”
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, hearkened unto the voice of the LORD their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him; and the people did fear before the LORD.
Mgbe ahụ, Zerubabel nwa Shealtiel, na Joshua nwa Jehozadak, onyeisi nchụaja, na ndị niile fọdụrụ, ṅara ntị nʼolu Onyenwe anyị Chineke ha, na nʼozi Hegai onye amụma, dịka Onyenwe anyị Chineke ha zitere ya. Ndị Izrel niile tụkwara egwu Onyenwe anyị.

14 And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
