Haggai 2
1 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying:
Le vingt et unième jour du septième mois, la parole de l'Eternel fut [adressée] par le moyen d'Aggée le Prophète, en disant:
2 'Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying:
Parle maintenant à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, Gouverneur de Juda, et à Jéhosuah, fils de Jéhotsadak, grand Sacrificateur, et au reste du peuple, et leur dis:
3 Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? and how do ye see it now? is not such a one as nothing in your eyes?
Qui est celui qui est demeuré de reste d'entre vous, qui ait vu cette maison dans sa première gloire, et telle que vous la voyez maintenant? N'est-elle pas comme un rien devant vos yeux, au prix de celle-là?
4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work; for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts.
Maintenant donc toi, Zorobabel, fortifie-toi, dit l'Eternel; aussi toi, Jéhosuah, fils de Jéhotsadak, grand Sacrificateur, fortifie toi; vous aussi, tout le peuple du pays, fortifiez-vous, dit l'Eternel, et travaillez, car je suis avec vous, dit l'Eternel des armées.
5 The word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt have I established, and My spirit abideth among you; fear ye not.
La parole de [l'alliance] que je traitai avec vous, quand vous sortîtes d'Egypte, et mon esprit demeurent au milieu de vous; ne craignez point.
6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées: encore une fois, ce qui [même sera] dans peu de temps, j'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, la mer, et le sec;
7 and I will shake all nations, and the choicest things of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
Et j'ébranlerai toutes les nations; et les désirés d'entre toutes les nations viendront; et je remplirai de gloire cette maison; a dit l'Eternel des armées.
8 Mine is the silver, and Mine the gold, saith the LORD of hosts.
L'argent est à moi, et l'or est à moi, dit l'Eternel des armées.
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than that of the former, saith the LORD of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.'
La gloire ce cette dernière maison-ci sera plus grande que celle de la première, a dit l'Eternel des armées, et je mettrai la paix en ce lieux-ci, dit l'Eternel des armées.
10 In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying:
Le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois de la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l'Eternel fut [adressée] par le moyen d'Aggée le Prophète, en disant:
11 'Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Ask now the priests for instruction, saying:
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées: Interroge maintenant les Sacrificateurs touchant la loi, en disant:
12 If one bear hallowed flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be holy?' And the priests answered and said: 'No.'
Si quelqu'un porte au coin de son vêtement de la chair sanctifiée, et qu'il touche du coin de son vêtement à du pain, ou à quelque chose cuite, ou à du vin, ou à de l'huile, ou à quelque viande que ce soit, cela en sera-t-il sanctifié? Et les Sacrificateurs répondirent, et dirent: Non.
13 Then said Haggai: 'If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean?' And the priests answered and said: 'It shall be unclean.'
Alors Aggée dit: Si celui qui est souillé pour un mort touche toutes ces choses-là, ne seront-elles pas souillées? Et les Sacrificateurs répondirent, et dirent: Elles seront souillées.
14 Then answered Haggai, and said: 'So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
Alors Aggée répondit, et dit: Ainsi est ce peuple, et ainsi est cette nation devant ma face, dit l'Eternel; et ainsi est toute l'œuvre de leurs mains; même ce qu'ils offrent ici, est souillé.
15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and forward — before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD,
Maintenant donc mettez ceci, je vous prie, dans votre cœur; depuis ce jour et au-dessus, avant qu'on remît pierre sur pierre au Temple de l'Eternel,
16 through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten; when one came to the winevat to draw out fifty press-measures, there were but twenty;
Avant cela, [dis-je], quand on est venu à un monceau [de blé], [au lieu] de vingt [mesures], il ne s'y en est trouvé que dix; et quand on est venu au pressoir, au lieu de puiser du pressoir cinquante [mesures], il ne s'y en est trouvé que vingt.
17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands; yet ye turned not to Me, saith the LORD —
Je vous ai frappés de brûlure, et de nielle, et de grêle dans tout le labeur de vos mains; et vous n'êtes point [retournés] à moi, dit l'Eternel.
18 consider, I pray you, from this day and forward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it;
Mettez maintenant ceci dans votre cœur; depuis ce jour, et au-dessus, depuis, [dis-je], le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, depuis ce jour-ci auquel les fondements du Temple de l'Eternel ont été jetés, mettez ceci dans votre cœur;
19 is the seed yet in the barn? yea, the vine, and the fig-tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive-tree hath not brought forth — from this day will I bless you.'
Ce que vous avez semé [est-il] encore [retourné] au grenier? Même jusqu'à la vigne, et au figuier, et au grenadier, et à l'olivier, rien n'a rapporté; [mais] depuis ce jour-ci je donnerai la bénédiction.
20 And the word of the LORD came the second time unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying:
Et la parole de l'Eternel fut [adressée] pour la seconde fois à Aggée, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en disant:
21 'Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying: I will shake the heavens and the earth;
Parle à Zorobabel, Gouverneur de Juda, en disant: J'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre;
22 and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Je renverserai le trône des Royaumes, je détruirai la force des Royaumes des Nations! je renverserai les chariots, et ceux qui montent dessus; et les chevaux, et ceux qui sont montés dessus, seront abattus, chacun par l'épée de son frère.
23 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, My servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.'
En ce temps là, dit l'Eternel des armées, je te prendrai, ô Zorobabel! fils de Salathiel, mon serviteur, dit l'Eternel, et je te mettrai comme un anneau de cachet; car je t'ai élu, dit l'Eternel des armées.
