Ezra 4
1 Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity were building a temple unto the LORD, the God of Israel;
௧சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்த மக்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுகிறார்கள் என்று யூதாவுக்கும் பென்யமீனுக்கும் இருந்த விரோதிகள் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது,
2 then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers' houses, and said unto them: 'Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up hither.'
௨அவர்கள் செருபாபேலிடத்திற்கும் தலைவர்களான பிதாக்களிடத்திற்கும் வந்து: உங்களுடன் நாங்களும் கட்டுவோம்; உங்களைப்போல நாங்களும் உங்கள் தேவனை நாடுவோம்; இந்த இடத்திற்கு எங்களை வரச் செய்த அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசரத்தோன் நாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு அவருக்கு நாங்களும் பலியிட்டுவருகிறோம் என்று அவர்களிடம் சொன்னார்கள்.
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers' houses of Israel, said unto them: 'Ye have nothing to do with us to build a house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD, the God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.'
௩அதற்கு செருபாபேலும், யெசுவாவும், இஸ்ரவேலில் உள்ள மற்ற தலைவர்களான பிதாக்களும் அவர்களை நோக்கி: எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுகிறதற்கு உங்களுக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் சம்பந்தமில்லை; பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கோரேஸ் ராஜா எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி. நாங்களே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு அதைக் கட்டுவோம் என்றார்கள்.
4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and harried them while they were building,
௪அதனால் அந்த தேசத்து மக்கள் யூதா மக்களின் கைகளைத் தளரச்செய்து, கட்டாமலிருக்க அவர்களை வருத்தப்படுத்தி,
5 and hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
௫பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கோரேசின் காலமுழுவதும், தரியு என்னும் பெர்சியா ராஜா அரசாண்ட காலம்வரை, அவர்கள் யோசனையைப் பொய்யாக்க அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக ஆலோசனைக்காரர்களுக்கு லஞ்சம் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
௬அகாஸ்வேரு அரசாளுகிறபோது, அவனுடைய அரசாட்சியின் ஆரம்பத்திலே, யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகக் குற்ற மனுவை எழுதினார்கள்.
7 And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Aramaic character, and set forth in the Aramaic tongue.
௭அர்தசஷ்டாவின் நாட்களிலும், பிஸ்லாமும், மித்திரேதாத்தும், தாபெயேலும், மற்றுமுள்ள அவர்களோடு உள்ளவர்களும், பெர்சியா ராஜாவான அர்தசஷ்டாவுக்கு ஒரு மனு எழுதினார்கள்; அந்த மனு சீரிய எழுத்திலும் சீரிய மொழியிலும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது.
8 Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort —
௮ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமும் பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயியும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாக அர்தசஷ்டா என்னும் ராஜாவுக்கு எழுதின மனுவிலே கையொப்பம் போட்டவர்கள் யாரென்றால்:
9 then wrote Rehum the commander, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinites, and the Apharesattechites, the Tarpelites, the Apharesites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehites, the Elamites,
௯ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயியும், மற்றும் அவர்களைச் சார்ந்த தீனாவியர்கள், அபற்சாத்தியர்கள், தர்பேலியர்கள், அப்பார்சியர்கள், அற்கேவியர்கள், பாபிலோனியர்கள், சூஷங்கியர்கள், தெகாவியர்கள், ஏலாமியரானவர்களும்,
10 and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asenappar brought over, and set in the city of Samaria, and the rest that are in the country beyond the River: — 'And now —
௧0பெரியவரும் பேர்பெற்றவருமான அஸ்னாப்பார், அந்த இடங்களிலிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து சமாரியாவின் பட்டணத்திலே குடியேறச் செய்த மற்ற மக்களும், நதிக்கு இந்தப் புறத்தில் இருக்கிற மற்ற மக்களுமே.
11 this is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king — thy servants the men beyond the River — and now
௧௧அவர்கள் அர்தசஷ்டா என்னும் ராஜாவுக்கு அனுப்பின மனுவின் நகலாவது: நதிக்கு இந்தப் புறத்தில் இருக்கிற உமது அடியார் முதலானவர்கள் அறிவிக்கிறது என்னவென்றால்.
12 be it known unto the king, that the Jews that came up from thee are come to us unto Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and are digging out the foundations.
௧௨உம்மிடத்திலிருந்து எங்களிடத்திற்கு வந்த யூதர்கள் எருசலேமிலே கூடி, கலகமும் பொல்லாப்புமான அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு அஸ்திபாரங்களை இணைத்து, அதின் மதில்களை எழுப்பிக்கட்டுகிறார்கள் என்பது ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிந்திருப்பதாக.
13 Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, impost, or toll, and so thou wilt endamage the revenue of the kings.
௧௩இப்போதும் இந்தப் பட்டணம் கட்டப்பட்டு, மதில்கள் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் எந்தவொரு வரியையும் கொடுக்கமாட்டார்கள்; அதனால் ராஜாக்களின் வருமானத்திற்கு நஷ்டம் வரும் என்று ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிந்திருப்பதாக.
14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and announced to the king,
௧௪இப்போதும், நாங்கள் அரண்மனை உப்பை சாப்பிடுவதால், ராஜாவுக்குக் குறைவு வருவதைப் பார்க்கிறது எங்களுக்கு முடியாத காரியம்; ஆகையால் நாங்கள் இதை அனுப்பி, ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறோம்.
15 that search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers; so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time; for which cause was this city laid waste.
௧௫உம்முடைய பிதாக்களின் நடபடி புத்தகங்களில் சோதித்துப்பார்க்கக் கட்டளையிடவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது இந்தப் பட்டணம் கலகமும், ராஜாக்களுக்கும் தேசத்திற்கும் நஷ்டமும் உண்டாக்குகிற பட்டணம் என்றும், பூர்வகாலமுதல் கலகம் உள்ளதாயிருந்ததால் இந்தப் பட்டணம் அழிக்கப்பட்டது என்றும், அந்த நடபடி புத்ததகங்களில் கண்டறியலாம்.
16 We announce to the king that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, by this means thou shalt have no portion beyond the River.'
௧௬ஆகையால் இந்தப் பட்டணம் கட்டப்பட்டு, இதன் மதில்கள் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டால், நதிக்கு இந்தப்புறத்திலே உமக்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லாமல்போகும் என்பதை ராஜாவுக்கு தெரியப்படுத்துகிறோம் என்று எழுதி அனுப்பினார்கள்.
17 Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the commander, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the River: 'Peace, and now
௧௭அப்பொழுது ராஜா ஆலோசனைத் தலைவனாகிய ரெகூமுக்கும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயிக்கும், சமாரியாவில் குடியிருக்கிற அவர்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களுக்கும், நதிக்கு மறுபுறத்தில் இருக்கிற மற்றவர்களுக்கும் எழுதியனுப்பின மறுமொழியாவது: உங்களுக்கு சமாதானம்,
18 the letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
௧௮நீங்கள் அனுப்பின மனு நமது சமுகத்தில் தெளிவாக வாசிக்கப்பட்டது.
19 And I decreed, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
௧௯நம்முடைய கட்டளையினால் சோதித்துப் பார்க்கும்போது, அந்தப் பட்டணம் பூர்வகாலமுதல் ராஜாக்களுக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பினது என்றும், அதிலே கலகமும் ராஜதுரோகமும் காணப்பட்டது என்றும்,
20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all the country beyond the River; and tribute, impost, and toll, was paid unto them.
௨0எருசலேமில் வல்லமையுள்ள ராஜாக்கள் இருந்தார்கள் என்றும், அவர்கள் நதிக்கு மறுபுறத்தில் இருக்கிற சகல தேசங்களையும் ஆண்டுவந்தார்கள் என்றும், அனைத்து வரியும் அவர்களுக்குச் செலுத்தப்பட்டது என்றும் தெரியவருகிறது.
21 Make ye now a decree to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until a decree shall be made by me.
௨௧இப்பொழுதும் நம்மிடத்திலிருந்து மறுஉத்திரவு வரும்வரை அந்த மனிதர்கள் அந்தப் பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டாமல் நிறுத்திவிடக் கட்டளையிடுங்கள்.
22 And take heed that ye be not slack herein; why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?'
௨௨இதிலே நீங்கள் தவறாதபடி எச்சரிக்கையாக இருங்கள்; ராஜாக்களுக்கு நஷ்டமும் சேதமும் ஏன் வரவேண்டும் என்று எழுதி அனுப்பினான்.
23 Then when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
௨௩ராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டாவுடைய கட்டளையின் நகல் ரெகூமுக்கும், பதிவாளனாகிய சிம்சாயிக்கும், அவர்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வாசிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் விரைவாக எருசலேமிலிருக்கிற யூதரிடத்திற்குப்போய், நிர்பந்தம் செய்தும் வலுக்கட்டாயமாகவும் அவர்களை வேலைசெய்யவிடாமல் நிறுத்திப்போட்டார்கள்.
24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
௨௪அப்பொழுது எருசலேமிலுள்ள தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலை தடைபட்டு, பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய தரியு அரசாட்சி செய்த இரண்டாம் வருடம்வரை நிறுத்தப்பட்டிருந்தது.
