Ezekiel 4

1 Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and trace upon it a city, even Jerusalem;

Et toi, fils de l’homme, prends-toi une brique: tu la placeras devant toi et tu y graveras une ville, Jérusalem.

2 and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast up a mound against it; set camps also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.

Tu feras contre elle des travaux de siège, contre elle tu bâtiras un rempart, tu étendras une chaussée, tu établiras des camps, et tu dresseras des béliers tout autour.

3 And take thou unto thee an iron griddle, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city; and set thy face toward it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

Puis, prends-toi une poêle de fer et pose-la comme un mur de fer entre toi et la ville; tu tourneras ton visage vers celle-ci, elle sera en état de siège et tu l’investiras; que ce soit un signe pour la maison d’Israël!

4 Moreover lie thou upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it; according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it, thou shalt bear their iniquity.

Et toi, couche-toi sur le côté gauche, et tu y placeras l’iniquité de la maison d’Israël; pendant le nombre de jours où tu seras couché sur ce côté, tu porteras leur iniquité.

5 For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be unto thee a number of days, even three hundred and ninety days; so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

Et moi, je te compte en jours les années de leur iniquité, trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours, et ainsi tu porteras l’iniquité de la maison d’Israël.

6 And again, when thou hast accomplished these, thou shalt lie on thy right side, and shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah; forty days, each day for a year, have I appointed it unto thee.

Quand tu les auras accomplis, tu te coucheras en second lieu sur le côté droit et tu porteras le péché de la maison de Juda pendant quarante jours; c’est jour pour année, jour pour année que je te l’impose.

7 And thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with thine arm uncovered; and thou shalt prophesy against it.

Tu tourneras ta face vers le siège de Jérusalem, le bras dénudé, et tu prophétiseras sur elle.

8 And, behold, I lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou hast accomplished the days of thy siege.

Voici que je t’ai chargé de chaînes, et tu ne te retourneras pas d’un côté sur l’autre jusqu’à la consommation des années de ton siège.

9 Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof; according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, even three hundred and ninety days, shalt thou eat thereof.

Et toi, prends-toi du froment, de l’orge, des fèves, des lentilles, du millet et de l’épeautre. Et tu les mettras dans un même vase et tu t’en feras du pain pour le nombre de jours que tu coucheras sur le côté: pendant trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours, tu t’en nourriras.

10 And thy food which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day; from time to time shalt thou eat it.

Et ce mets dont tu te nourriras devra être pesé: le poids en sera de vingt sicles par jour, d’un bout à l’autre de la période tu le mangeras.

11 Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of a hin; from time to time shalt thou drink.

Et tu boiras de l’eau à la mesure, à savoir un sixième de hin, d’un bout à l’autre de la période.

12 And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it in their sight with dung that cometh out of man.'

Et tu en mangeras sous forme de galette d’orge, et cette galette, tu la feras cuire sur des boules d’excréments humains, à leurs yeux.

13 And the LORD said: 'Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their bread unclean, among the nations whither I will drive them.'

Et l’Eternel dit: "Ainsi les enfants d’Israël mangeront leur pain souillé chez les peuples où je les disperserai."

14 Then said I: 'Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted; for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn of beasts; neither came there abhorred flesh into my mouth.'

Et je dis: "Ah! Seigneur Dieu mais mon âme n’est point souillée, et je n’ai mangé de bête morte ni déchirée depuis mon enfance jusqu’à maintenant, et il n’est pas venu dans ma bouche de chair de rebut."

15 Then He said unto me: 'See, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread thereon.'

Et il me dit: "Vois! Je t’accorde des fientes de boeuf au lieu des excréments de l’homme, et tu feras ton pain là-dessus."

16 Moreover He said unto me: 'Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they shall eat bread by weight, and with anxiety; and they shall drink water by measure, and in appalment;

Il me dit encore: "Fils de l’homme, voici que je vais briser le bâton du pain dans Jérusalem, et ils mangeront le pain au poids et dans l’angoisse, et l’eau, c’est à la mesure et dans la désolation qu’ils la boiront,

17 that they may want bread and water, and be appalled one with another, and pine away in their iniquity.

afin qu’ils manquent de pain et d’eau, qu’ils soient consternés les uns et les autres et qu’ils se consument dans leur iniquité."
