Exodus 4

1 And Moses answered and said: 'But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say: The lord hath not appeared unto thee.'

Y respondiendo Moisés, dijo: Es cierto que no tendrán fe en mí ni oirán mi voz; porque dirán: No has visto al Señor.

2 And the LORD said unto him: 'What is that in thy hand?' And he said: 'A rod.'

Y el Señor le dijo: ¿Qué es eso que tienes en tu mano? Y él dijo: Una vara.

3 And He said: 'Cast it on the ground.' And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

Y dijo: Ponla en la tierra. Y lo dejó en la tierra y se convirtió en una serpiente; y Moisés salió corriendo de allí.

4 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Put forth thy hand, and take it by the tail — and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand —

Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano, y tómala por la cola; y él, extendiendo la mano, la tomó, y se convirtió en vara en su mano.

5 that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.'

Para que tengan certeza de que el Señor, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, ha sido visto por ustedes.

6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him: 'Put now thy hand into thy bosom.' And he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.

Entonces el Señor le volvió a decir: Métete la mano en la ropa. Y metió la mano dentro de su túnica; y cuando la sacó, era como la mano de un leproso, blanca como la nieve.

7 And He said: 'Put thy hand back into thy bosom. — And he put his hand back into his bosom; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. —

Y él dijo: Pon tu mano dentro de tu manto otra vez. Y volvió a meterse la mano en la túnica, y cuando la sacó vio que se había vuelto como su otra carne.

8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

Y si no tienen fe en ti ni prestan atención a la voz de la primera señal, tendrán fe en la segunda señal.

9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land; and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.'

Y si no tienen fe en estas dos señales, y no oyen tu voz, entonces tomarás las aguas del Nilo y las pondrás en tierra firme; y las aguas que saques del río se convertirán en sangre en la tierra seca.

10 And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Oh Lord, I am not a man of words, neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto Thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.'

Y dijo Moisés al Señor: Oh SEÑOR, no soy hombre de palabras; Nunca he sido así, y no lo soy ahora, incluso después de lo que le has dicho a tu siervo; porque hablar es duro para mí, y soy tardo de lengua.

11 And the LORD said unto him: 'Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD?

Y el Señor le dijo: ¿Quién hizo la boca del hombre? ¿Quién hizo al mudo o al sordo, o lo hace ver o cegar? ¿No soy yo, el Señor?

12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.'

Ahora ve, y yo estaré con tu boca, enseñándote qué decir.

13 And he said: 'Oh Lord, send, I pray Thee, by the hand of him whom Thou wilt send.'

Y dijo: Señor, envía, si quieres, de la mano de cualquiera que te pareciere bueno enviar.

14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and He said: 'Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee; and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

Entonces Él Señor se enojó contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿No está Aarón tu hermano, el levita? Que yo sepa, él es bueno hablando. Y ahora él saldrá a recibirte; y cuando él te vea, se alegrará en su corazón.

15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

Que Aarón escuché tu instrucción, y le dirás lo que tiene que decir, pondrás mis palabras en su boca; y estaré con él y contigo, enseñándote lo que tienes que hacer.

16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people; and it shall come to pass, that he shall be to thee a mouth, and thou shalt be to him in God's stead.

Y él hablará por ti al pueblo; él te será como boca, y tú serás para él como Dios.

17 And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs.'

Y toma en tu mano esta vara con la cual harás las señales.

18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said unto him: 'Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive.' And Jethro said to Moses: 'Go in peace.'

Y Moisés volvió a Jetro, su suegro, y le dijo: Déjame volver ahora a mis parientes en Egipto y ver si todavía están vivos. Y Jetro le dijo a Moisés: Ve en paz.

19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian: 'Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead that sought thy life.'

Y el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés en Madián: Vuelve a Egipto, porque todos los hombres han muerto que intentaban quitarte la vida.

20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt; and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

Y Moisés tomó su mujer y sus hijos, y los puso sobre un asno, y volvió a la tierra de Egipto; y tomó en su mano la vara de Dios.

21 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand; but I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Cuando vuelvas a Egipto, mira que hagas delante de Faraón todas las maravillas que te he dado poder para hacer; pero endureceré su corazón y no dejará ir al pueblo.

22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh: Thus saith the LORD: Israel is My son, My first-born.

Y le dirás a Faraón: El Señor dice: Israel es el primero de mis hijos.

23 And I have said unto thee: Let My son go, that he may serve Me; and thou hast refused to let him go. Behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.' —

Y yo te dije: Deja ir a mi hijo, para que me dé culto; y no lo dejaste ir, así que ahora voy a matar al primero de tus hijos.

24 And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

Ahora en el viaje, en el lugar de descanso de la noche, el Señor se cruzó en su camino y lo quiso matar.

25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said: 'Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me.'

Entonces Séfora tomó una piedra afilada, y cortó la piel de las partes íntimas de su hijo, y tocó sus pies con ella, y dijo: Verdaderamente eres un esposo de sangre para mí.

26 So He let him alone. Then she said: 'A bridegroom of blood in regard of the circumcision.'

Entonces lo dejó ir. Entonces ella dijo: “Eres un esposo de sangre por la circuncisión”.

27 And the LORD said to Aaron: 'Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.' And he went, and met him in the mountain of God, and kissed him.

Y el Señor dijo a Aarón: Ve al desierto, y verás a Moisés. Entonces él fue y se encontró con Moisés en el monte de Dios, y le dio un beso.

28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD wherewith He had sent him, and all the signs wherewith He had charged him.

Y dio Moisés cuentas a Aarón de todas las palabras del Señor que le había enviado a decir, y de todas las señales que le había ordenado que hiciera.

29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.

Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron y juntaron a todos los jefes de los hijos de Israel.

30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

Y Aarón les dijo todas las palabras que el Señor le había dicho a Moisés, e hizo las señales delante de todo el pueblo.

31 And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had remembered the children of Israel, and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

Y la gente tenía fe en ellos; y oyendo que el Señor había tomado la causa de los hijos de Israel y había visto sus problemas, con la cabeza inclinada lo adoraron.
