Exodus 22
1 If a man steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
Cuando un hombre robe un buey o un cordero, y lo degüelle o lo venda, por aquel buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por aquel cordero pagará cuatro corderos.
2 If a thief be found breaking in, and be smitten so that he dieth, there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him.
Si un ladrón es hallado cuando irrumpe en un lugar y es herido de tal modo que muere, a nadie se inculpará por su sangre.
3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be bloodguiltiness for him — he shall make restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
Pero si ya salió el sol, será delito de sangre. Ciertamente hará restitución. Si nada tiene, entonces será vendido por su robo.
4 If the theft be found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep, he shall pay double.
Si lo que robó se encuentra vivo en su poder, sea buey, asno u oveja, hará restitución con el doble.
5 If a man cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall let his beast loose, and it feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
Cuando alguno destroce un campo o una viña al soltar su bestia a pastar en campo ajeno, hará restitución con lo mejor de su campo o lo mejor de su viña.
6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the shocks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field are consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
Cuando un fuego se propague a las espinas y consuma las gavillas amontonadas o en pie en el campo, el que encendió el fuego restituirá sin falta.
7 If a man deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, he shall pay double.
Cuando un hombre dé a su prójimo plata u objetos para que los guarde, y sean robados de la casa de aquel que los guardó, si se halla al ladrón, restituirá el doble.
8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall come near unto God, to see whether he have not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
Pero si el ladrón no es hallado, entonces el dueño de la casa se presentará ante los jueces y jurará si metió su mano en los bienes de su prójimo, o no.
9 For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, whereof one saith: 'This is it,' the cause of both parties shall come before God; he whom God shall condemn shall pay double unto his neighbour.
En todo asunto de transgresión, sea de buey, de asno, de oveja, de ropa, o cualquier pérdida en la que se diga: Esto es así, el asunto de ambos se llevará ante los jueces, y aquel a quien los jueces declaren culpable, pagará el doble a su prójimo.
10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep, and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it;
Cuando un hombre dé a su prójimo un asno, buey u oveja, o cualquier animal para que lo guarde, y muera, o sea destrozado o robado sin que nadie vea,
11 the oath of the LORD shall be between them both, to see whether he have not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner thereof shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.
se interpondrá juramento ante Yavé entre ambos para afirmar que su mano no se extendió a los bienes de su prójimo, su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.
12 But if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
Pero si fue robado de junto a él, hará restitución a su dueño,
13 If it be torn in pieces, let him bring it for witness; he shall not make good that which was torn.
y si fue destrozado por una fiera, le llevará evidencia y no pagará lo destrozado.
14 And if a man borrow aught of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.
Cuando un hombre pida a su prójimo un animal, y sea herido o muerto en ausencia de su dueño, ciertamente lo pagará.
15 If the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good; if it be a hireling, he loseth his hire.
Si el dueño está presente, no pagará. Si era alquilado, entrará en su alquiler.
16 And if a man entice a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
Si un varón seduce a una virgen que no está comprometida y se une a ella, ciertamente deberá pagar la dote a fin de tomarla como esposa para él mismo.
17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
Pero si su padre rehúsa terminantemente dársela, él pagará el dinero conforme a la dote de las vírgenes.
18 Thou shalt not suffer a sorceress to live.
No dejarás vivir a la hechicera.
19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Todo el que se ayunte con animal ciertamente será muerto.
20 He that sacrificeth unto the gods, save unto the LORD only, shall be utterly destroyed.
El que ofrezca sacrificio a cualquier ʼelohim que no sea Yavé, será completamente destruido.
21 And a stranger shalt thou not wrong, neither shalt thou oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
No maltratarás ni oprimirás al extranjero, porque también ustedes fueron extranjeros en la tierra de Egipto.
22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
No afligirán a la viuda ni al huérfano.
23 If thou afflict them in any wise — for if they cry at all unto Me, I will surely hear their cry —
Porque si los afligen, y ellos elevan su clamor a Mí, ciertamente escucharé el clamor de ellos
24 My wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
y se encenderá mi ira. A ustedes los haré morir a espada, y sus esposas quedarán viudas y sus hijos huérfanos.
25 If thou lend money to any of My people, even to the poor with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a creditor; neither shall ye lay upon him interest.
Si prestas dinero al pobre de mi pueblo que está entre ustedes, no actuarás como un acreedor ni le cobrarás interés.
26 If thou at all take thy neighbour's garment to pledge, thou shalt restore it unto him by that the sun goeth down;
Si tomas en prenda la ropa de tu prójimo, se lo devolverás antes de la puesta del sol,
27 for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin; wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto Me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
pues la ropa es su único cobertor para su piel. ¿En qué se va a acostar? Y si clama a Mí, sucederá que Yo lo escucharé, porque soy misericordioso.
28 Thou shalt not revile God, nor curse a ruler of thy people.
No insultarás a los jueces, ni maldecirás al magistrado de tu pueblo.
29 Thou shalt not delay to offer of the fulness of thy harvest, and of the outflow of thy presses. The first-born of thy sons shalt thou give unto Me.
No retardes la ofrenda de tu cosecha y de tu vendimia. Me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.
30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep; seven days it shall be with its dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it Me.
Lo mismo harás con el de tu buey y con el de tu oveja. Siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.
31 And ye shall be holy men unto Me; therefore ye shall not eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
Me serán hombres santos. No comerán carne despedazada en el campo. La echarán a los perros.
