Exodus 20
1 And God spoke all these words, saying:
ʼElohim habló todas estas Palabras:
2 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Yo soy Yavé tu ʼElohim, Quien te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de esclavitud.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
No tendrás otros ʼelohim delante de Mí.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
No te harás imagen ni alguna semejanza de lo que hay arriba en el cielo, o en la tierra, o en el agua debajo de la tierra.
5 thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
No te postrarás ante ellas ni les rendirás culto, porque Yo Yavé tu ʼElohim soy un ʼEL celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y la cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen,
6 and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.
pero muestro misericordia a millares de los que me aman y guardan mis Mandamientos.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.
No tomarás el Nombre de Yavé tu ʼElohim en vano, porque Yavé no tendrá como inocente al que tome su Nombre en vano.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Acuérdate del día sábado para santificarlo.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,
10 but the seventh day is a sabbath unto the LORD thy God, in it thou shalt not do any manner of work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;
pero el sábado es reposo para Yavé tu ʼElohim. No hagas en él alguna labor, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu esclavo, ni tu esclava, ni tu animal, ni tu extranjero que está dentro de tus puertas.
11 for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Porque en seis días Yavé hizo los cielos, la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos, y reposó el sábado. Por tanto Yavé bendijo el día sábado y lo santificó.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Honra a tu padre y a tu madre para que tus días se prolonguen en la tierra que Yavé tu ʼElohim te da.
13 Thou shalt not murder.
No asesinarás.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
No adulterarás.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
No robarás.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
No darás testimonio falso contra tu prójimo.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo, ni la esposa de tu prójimo, ni su esclavo, ni su esclava, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni alguna cosa de tu prójimo.
18 And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the horn, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.
Todo el pueblo percibía los truenos, los relámpagos, el sonido de la corneta y la Montaña que humeaba. Cuando el pueblo percibió [esto], se estremecieron y se mantuvieron lejos.
19 And they said unto Moses: 'Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.'
Dijeron a Moisés: Habla tú con nosotros y escucharemos. Pero que ʼElohim no nos hable, no sea que muramos.
20 And Moses said unto the people: 'Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before you, that ye sin not.'
Moisés dijo al pueblo: No teman, pues ʼElohim vino para probarlos, a fin de que el temor a Él esté ante ustedes, de modo que no pequen.
21 And the people stood afar off; but Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
Y el pueblo se mantuvo en pie a distancia mientras Moisés subía a la densa nube donde estaba ʼElohim.
22 And the LORD said unto Moses: Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel: Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
Yavé dijo a Moisés: Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: Ustedes vieron que les hablé desde el cielo.
23 Ye shall not make with Me — gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you.
No harán además de Mí ʼelohim de plata ni de oro.
24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto Me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be mentioned I will come unto thee and bless thee.
Para Mí harás un altar de tierra y sacrificarás sobre él tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus becerros. En todo lugar donde Yo ordene recordar mi Nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.
25 And if thou make Me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast profaned it.
Si me haces altar de piedras, no lo construirás con piedra labrada, pues si alzas tu cincel sobre él, lo profanarás.
26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto Mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon.
No subirás por gradas a mi altar para que tu desnudez no se descubra sobre él.
