Esther 5

1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house; and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the entrance of the house.

Y aconteció que al tercero día Ester se vistió vestido real, y púsose en el patio de adentro de la casa del rey en frente del aposento del rey: y el rey estaba asentado sobre su trono real en el aposento real, en frente de la puerta del aposento.

2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

Y fue, que como vio a la reina Ester que estaba en el patio, ella tuvo gracia en sus ojos, y el rey extendió a Ester la vara de oro que tenía en la mano: entonces Ester llegó, y tocó la punta de la vara.

3 Then said the king unto her: 'What wilt thou, queen Esther? for whatever thy request, even to the half of the kingdom, it shall be given thee.'

Y díjole el rey: ¿Qué tienes reina Ester? ¿Y qué es tu petición? Hasta la mitad del reino se te dará.

4 And Esther said: 'If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.'

Y Ester dijo: Si al rey place, venga el rey, y Amán hoy al banquete que he hecho.

5 Then the king said: 'Cause Haman to make haste, that it may be done as Esther hath said.' So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Y respondió el rey: Dáos priesa, id a Amán, que haga el mandamiento de Ester. Y vino el rey y Amán al banquete que Ester hizo.

6 And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine: 'Whatever thy petition, it shall be granted thee; and whatever thy request, even to the half of the kingdom, it shall be performed.'

Y dijo el rey a Ester en el banquete de vino: ¿Qué es tu petición, y dársete ha? ¿Qué es tu demanda? Aunque sea la mitad del reino, se te hará.

7 Then answered Esther, and said: 'My petition and my request is —

Entonces respondió Ester, y dijo: Mi petición, y mi demanda es;

8 if I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request — let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to-morrow as the king hath said.'

Si he hallado gracia en los ojos del rey, y si place al rey dar mi petición, y hacer mi demanda, vendrá el rey y Amán al banquete, que les haré: y mañana haré lo que el rey manda.

9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and glad of heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, Haman was filled with wrath against Mordecai.

Y salió Amán aquel día alegre y bueno de corazón: y como vio a Mardoqueo a la puerta del rey, que no se levantó ni se movió de su lugar, fue lleno de ira contra Mardoqueo.

10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and Zeresh his wife.

Mas refrenóse Amán, y vino a su casa, y envió e hizo venir sus amigos, y a Zares su mujer:

11 And Haman recounted unto them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and everything as to how the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

Y recitóles Amán la gloria de sus riquezas, y la multitud de sus hijos, y todas las cosas con que el rey le había engrandecido, y con que le había ensalzado sobre los príncipes y siervos del rey.

12 Haman said moreover: 'Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king.

Y añadió Amán: También la reina Ester no hizo venir con el rey al banquete que hizo sino a mí: y aun para mañana soy convidado de ella con el rey.

13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.'

Y todo esto no me entra en provecho, cada vez que veo a Mardoqueo Judío sentado a la puerta del rey.

14 Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him: 'Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon; then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet.' And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

Y díjole Zares su mujer y todos sus amigos: Hagan una horca alta de cincuenta codos, y mañana di al rey que cuelguen a Mardoqueo sobre ella: y entra con el rey al banquete alegre. Y plugo la cosa en los ojos de Amán, e hizo hacer la horca.
