Ecclesiastes 3
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
௧ஒவ்வொன்றிற்கும் ஒவ்வொரு காலம் உண்டு; வானத்தின் கீழ் இருக்கிற ஒவ்வொரு காரியத்திற்கும் ஒவ்வொரு நேரம் உண்டு.
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
௨பிறக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, இறக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; நட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, நட்டதைப் பிடுங்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
௩கொல்ல ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, குணமாக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; இடிக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, கட்ட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
௪அழ ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, சிரிக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; புலம்ப ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, நடனமாட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
௫கற்களை எறிந்துவிட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, கற்களைச் சேர்க்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; தழுவ ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, தழுவாமல் இருக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
6 A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
௬தேட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, இழக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; காப்பாற்ற ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, எறிந்துவிட ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
௭கிழிக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, தைக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; மவுனமாக இருக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, பேச ஒரு காலம் உண்டு;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
௮நேசிக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, பகைக்க ஒரு காலம் உண்டு; யுத்தம்செய்ய ஒரு காலம் உண்டு, சமாதானப்படுத்த ஒரு காலம் உண்டு.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that he laboureth?
௯வருத்தப்பட்டு பிரயாசப்படுகிறவனுக்கு அதினால் பலன் என்ன?
10 I have seen the task which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.
௧0மனிதர்கள் பாடுபடும்படி தேவன் அவர்களுக்கு நியமித்த தொல்லையைக் கண்டேன்.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in its time; also He hath set the world in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.
௧௧அவர் அனைத்தையும் அதினதின் காலத்திலே நேர்த்தியாகச் செய்திருக்கிறார்; உலகத்தையும் அவர்களுடைய உள்ளத்திலே வைத்திருக்கிறார்; ஆதலால் தேவன் ஆரம்பம்முதல் முடிவுவரை செய்துவரும் செயல்களை மனிதன் கண்டுபிடிக்கமாட்டான்.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to get pleasure so long as they live.
௧௨மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருப்பதும் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போது நன்மைசெய்வதையும்தவிர, வேறொரு நன்மையும் மனிதனுக்கு இல்லையென்று அறிந்தேன்.
13 But also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy pleasure for all his labour, is the gift of God.
௧௩அன்றியும் மனிதர்கள் எல்லோரும் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து தங்களுடைய எல்லா பிரயாசத்தின் பலனையும் அனுபவிப்பது தேவனுடைய வெகுமதி.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it; and God hath so made it, that men should fear before Him.
௧௪தேவன் செய்வது எதுவோ அது என்றைக்கும் நிலைக்கும் என்று அறிவேன்; அதினோடு ஒன்றும் கூட்டவும் கூடாது, அதிலிருந்து ஒன்றும் குறைக்கவும் கூடாது; மனிதர்கள் தமது சமுகத்தில் பயந்திருக்கும்படி தேவன் இப்படிச் செய்துவருகிறார்.
15 That which is hath been long ago, and that which is to be hath already been; and God seeketh that which is pursued.
௧௫முன் நடந்ததே இப்பொழுதும் நடக்கிறது; இனி நடக்கப்போகிறதும் முன்பே நடந்தது; நடந்ததையோ தேவன் விசாரிப்பார்.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
௧௬பின்னும் சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே நான் நீதிமன்றத்தைக் கண்டேன், அங்கே அநியாயம் இருந்தது, நீதிமன்றத்தையும் கண்டேன். அங்கே அநீதி இருந்தது;
17 I said in my heart: 'The righteous and the wicked God will judge; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.'
௧௭எல்லா எண்ணங்களையும் எல்லா செயல்களையும் நியாயந்தீர்க்கும்காலம் இனி இருக்கிறபடியால் நீதிமானையும் துன்மார்க்கனையும் தேவன் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பார் என்று என்னுடைய உள்ளத்தில் நினைத்தேன்.
18 I said in my heart: 'It is because of the sons of men, that God may sift them, and that they may see that they themselves are but as beasts.'
௧௮மனிதர்கள் தாங்கள் மிருகங்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்களென்பதை அவர்கள் காணும்படி தேவன் அவர்களைச் சோதிக்கிறாரென்று நான் மனிதர்களுடைய நிலைமையைக்குறித்து என்னுடைய உள்ளத்தில் நினைத்தேன்.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them; as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that man hath no pre-eminence above a beast; for all is vanity.
௧௯மனிதர்களுக்கு சம்பவிப்பது மிருகங்களுக்கும் சம்பவிக்கும்; அவர்களுக்கும் இவைகளுக்கும் ஒரே மாதிரி நடக்கும்; இவைகள் சாகிறதுபோலவே அவர்களும் சாகிறார்கள்; உயிர்களுக்கெல்லாம் சுவாசம் ஒன்றே; மிருகத்தைவிட மனிதன் மேன்மையுள்ளவன் அல்ல; எல்லாம் மாயையே.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all return to dust.
௨0எல்லாம் ஒரே இடத்திற்குப் போகிறது; எல்லாம் மண்ணிலே உண்டாகிறது, எல்லாம் மண்ணிற்குத் திரும்புகிறது.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man whether it goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast whether it goeth downward to the earth?
௨௧உயர ஏறும் மனிதனுடைய ஆவியையும், தாழ பூமியில் இறங்கும் மிருகங்களுடைய ஆவியையும் அறிகிறவன் யார்?
22 Wherefore I perceived that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
௨௨இப்படியிருக்கிறபடியால், மனிதன் தன்னுடைய செயல்களில் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கும் நன்மையைத்தவிர, வேறே நன்மை இல்லையென்று கண்டேன்; இதுவே அவனுடைய பங்கு; தனக்குப் பின்வரும் காரியங்களைக் காணும்படி அவனைத் திரும்பிவரச்செய்கிறவன் யார்?
