Ecclesiastes 3
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Para todo hay un tiempo fijo, y un tiempo para cada propósito bajo el cielo.
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Un tiempo para el nacimiento y un tiempo para la muerte; un tiempo para plantar y un tiempo para arrancar de raíz;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Un tiempo para dar muerte y un tiempo para sanar; un tiempo para derribar y un tiempo para construir;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Un tiempo para llorar y un tiempo para reír; un tiempo para el dolor y un tiempo para bailar;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
Un tiempo para quitar piedras y un tiempo para juntar piedras; un tiempo para abrazar y un tiempo para no abrazar;
6 A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
Un tiempo para la búsqueda y un tiempo para la pérdida; un tiempo para guardar y un tiempo para regalar;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Un tiempo para desgarrar y un tiempo para coser; un tiempo para guardar silencio y un tiempo para hablar;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
Un tiempo para el amor y un tiempo para el odio; un tiempo para la guerra y un tiempo para la paz.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that he laboureth?
¿Qué beneficio tiene el trabajador en el trabajo que él hace?
10 I have seen the task which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.
Vi la obra que Dios ha puesto sobre los hijos del hombre.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in its time; also He hath set the world in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.
Él hizo todo hermoso en su tiempo; y entregó el mundo a su voluntad, pero él ha hecho sus corazones sin conocimiento, de modo que el hombre no puede ver las obras de Dios, desde el principio hasta el fin.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to get pleasure so long as they live.
Estoy seguro de que no hay nada mejor para un hombre que estar contento y hacer el bien mientras la vida está en él.
13 But also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy pleasure for all his labour, is the gift of God.
Y para cada hombre que coma, beba y tenga gozo en toda su obra, es una recompensa de Dios.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it; and God hath so made it, that men should fear before Him.
Estoy seguro de que todo lo que Dios haga será para siempre. No se le puede hacer ninguna adición, no se le puede quitar nada; y Dios lo ha hecho para que el hombre tenga reverencia ante él.
15 That which is hath been long ago, and that which is to be hath already been; and God seeketh that which is pursued.
Lo que ha sido antes, ya es, y lo que debe ser, es ahora; Porque Dios hace la búsqueda de las cosas que son pasadas.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
Y otra vez, vi debajo del sol, en el lugar de los jueces, que el mal estaba allí; y en el lugar de la justicia, que el mal estaba allí.
17 I said in my heart: 'The righteous and the wicked God will judge; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.'
Dije en mi corazón: Dios juzgará lo bueno y lo malo; porque ha fijado un tiempo para cada propósito y para cada trabajo.
18 I said in my heart: 'It is because of the sons of men, that God may sift them, and that they may see that they themselves are but as beasts.'
Dije en mi corazón: Es por los hijos de los hombres, para que Dios los ponga a prueba y se vean a sí mismos como bestias.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them; as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that man hath no pre-eminence above a beast; for all is vanity.
Porque el destino de los hijos de los hombres y el destino de las bestias es el mismo. Como la muerte de uno, así es la muerte del otro, y todos tienen un espíritu. El hombre no tiene ventaja sobre las bestias; porque todo es vanidad.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all return to dust.
Todos van a un lugar, todos son del polvo, y todos serán convertidos en polvo nuevamente.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man whether it goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast whether it goeth downward to the earth?
¿Quién está seguro de que el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres sube al cielo, o que el espíritu de las bestias desciende a la tierra?
22 Wherefore I perceived that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion; for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
Entonces vi que no hay nada mejor que un hombre tenga gozo en su trabajo, porque esa es su recompensa. ¿Quién le hará ver lo que vendrá después de él?
