Deuteronomy 25
1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, and the judges judge them, by justifying the righteous, and condemning the wicked,
൧മനുഷ്യർക്ക് തമ്മിൽ വ്യവഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകുകയും, അവർ ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ വരുകയും അവരുടെ കാര്യം വിസ്തരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ, നീതിമാനെ നീതീകരിക്കുകയും കുറ്റക്കാരനെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുകയും വേണം.
2 then it shall be, if the wicked man deserve to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to the measure of his wickedness, by number.
൨കുറ്റക്കാരൻ അടിക്ക് യോഗ്യനാകുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ന്യായാധിപൻ അവനെ നിലത്തു കിടത്തി അവന്റെ കുറ്റത്തിനു തക്കവണ്ണം എണ്ണി അടിപ്പിക്കണം.
3 Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should be dishonoured before thine eyes.
൩നാല്പത് അടി അടിപ്പിക്കാം; അതിൽ കവിയരുത്; അതിൽ അധികമായി അടിപ്പിച്ചാൽ സഹോദരൻ നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന് നിന്ദിതനായിത്തീർന്നേക്കാം.
4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.
൪കാള, ധാന്യം മെതിക്കുമ്പോൾ അതിന് മുഖക്കൊട്ട കെട്ടരുത്.
5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not be married abroad unto one not of his kin; her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother unto her.
൫സഹോദരന്മാർ ഒന്നിച്ച് വസിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരിൽ ഒരുവൻ മകനില്ലാതെ മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ മരിച്ചവന്റെ ഭാര്യ പുറത്തുള്ള ഒരുവന് ഭാര്യയാകരുത്; ഭർത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് അവളെ ഭാര്യയായി പരിഗ്രഹിച്ച് അവളോട് ദേവരധർമ്മം നിവർത്തിക്കണം.
6 And it shall be, that the first-born that she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother that is dead, that his name be not blotted out of Israel.
൬മരിച്ചുപോയ സഹോദരന്റെ പേര് യിസ്രായേലിൽ മാഞ്ഞുപോകാതിരിക്കുവാൻ അവൾ പ്രസവിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യജാതനെ മരിച്ചവന്റെ അവകാശിയായി കണക്കാക്കണം.
7 And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate unto the elders, and say: 'My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother unto me.'
൭സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കുവാൻ അവന് മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവൾ പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കൽ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: “എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരന് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ പേര് യിസ്രായേലിൽ നിലനിർത്തുവാൻ ഇഷ്ടമില്ല; എന്നോട് ദേവരധർമ്മം നിവർത്തിപ്പാൻ അവന് മനസ്സില്ല” എന്നു പറയണം.
8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him; and if he stand, and say: 'I like not to take her';
൮അപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാർ അവനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച് അവനോട് സംസാരിക്കണം; എന്നാൽ: “ഇവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കുവാൻ എനിക്ക് മനസ്സില്ല” എന്ന് അവൻ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാൽ
9 then shall his brother's wife draw nigh unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say: 'So shall it be done unto the man that doth not build up his brother's house.'
൯അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യ മൂപ്പന്മാർ കാൺകെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്, അവന്റെ കാലിൽനിന്ന് ചെരിപ്പഴിച്ച് അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു തുപ്പി: “സഹോദരന്റെ വീടു പണിയാത്ത പുരുഷനോട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും” എന്ന് പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറയണം.
10 And his name shall be called in Israel The house of him that had his shoe loosed.
൧൦‘ചെരിപ്പഴിഞ്ഞവന്റെ കുടുംബം’ എന്ന് യിസ്രായേലിൽ അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന് പേര് പറയും.
11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets;
൧൧പുരുഷന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ അടിപിടികൂടുമ്പോൾ ഒരുവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഭർത്താവിനെ അടിക്കുന്നവന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അടുത്തുചെന്നു കൈ നീട്ടി അവന്റെ ലിംഗം പിടിച്ചാൽ
12 then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall have no pity.
൧൨അവളുടെ കൈ വെട്ടിക്കളയണം; അവളോട് കനിവ് തോന്നരുത്.
13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
൧൩നിന്റെ സഞ്ചിയിൽ ഒരേ തൂക്കത്തിന് ഏറിയതും കുറഞ്ഞതുമായ രണ്ടുതരം പടി ഉണ്ടാകരുത്.
14 Thou shalt not have in thy house diverse measures, a great and a small.
൧൪നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഒരേ അളവിന് ഏറിയതും കുറഞ്ഞതുമായ രണ്ടുതരം പറയും ഉണ്ടാകരുത്.
15 A perfect and just weight shalt thou have; a perfect and just measure shalt thou have; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
൧൫നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്ക് തരുന്ന ദേശത്ത്, നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് നിന്റെ അളവുകൾ നേരുള്ളതും ന്യായവുമായിരിക്കണം; അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ നിന്റെ പറയും ഒത്തതും ന്യായവുമായിരിക്കണം.
16 For all that do such things, even all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
൧൬ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ അന്യായം ചെയ്യുന്നവനൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു.
17 Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way as ye came forth out of Egypt;
൧൭നിങ്ങൾ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു വരുമ്പോൾ വഴിയിൽവച്ച് അമാലേക്ക് നിന്നോട് ചെയ്തത്,
18 how he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, all that were enfeebled in thy rear, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.
൧൮അവൻ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടാതെ വഴിയിൽ നിന്റെനേരെ വന്ന്, നീ ക്ഷീണിച്ചും തളർന്നും ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, നിന്റെ പിന്നണിയിലുള്ള ബലഹീനരെ ഒക്കെയും സംഹരിച്ച കാര്യം ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളുക.
19 Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget.
൧൯ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്ക് അവകാശമായി കീഴടക്കുവാൻ തരുന്ന ദേശത്ത് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നിന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളെയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നീക്കി നിനക്ക് സ്വസ്ഥത തന്നിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ നീ അമാലേക്കിന്റെ ഓർമ്മയെ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽനിന്ന് മായിച്ചുകളയണം; ഇത് മറന്നുപോകരുത്.
