Deuteronomy 14
1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Vosotros sois los hijos de Yahvé, vuestro Dios. No os cortaréis, ni os haréis calvicie entre los ojos por los muertos.
2 For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be His own treasure out of all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
Porque ustedes son un pueblo santo para Yahvé su Dios, y Yahvé los ha escogido para ser un pueblo de su propiedad, por encima de todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
No comeréis ninguna cosa abominable.
4 These are the beasts which ye may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
Estos son los animales que puedes comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,
5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the mountain-sheep.
el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y la gamuza.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof wholly cloven in two, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye may eat.
Todo animal que tenga la pezuña partida en dos y que rumie, entre los animales, podréis comerlo.
7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that only chew the cud, or of them that only have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger, because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you;
Sin embargo, no comerás estos animales que rumian, ni los que tienen la pezuña partida: el camello, la liebre y el conejo. Como mastican el bolo alimenticio, pero no tienen la pezuña partida, son inmundos para ti.
8 and the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you; of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch.
El cerdo, por tener la pezuña hendida pero no masticar la bestia, es impuro para ti. No comeréis su carne. No tocareis sus cadáveres.
9 These ye may eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales may ye eat;
De todo lo que hay en las aguas podrás comer esto; podrás comer todo lo que tenga aletas y escamas.
10 and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.
No comerás lo que no tenga aletas ni escamas. Es impuro para ti.
11 Of all clean birds ye may eat.
De todas las aves limpias podrás comer.
12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the great vulture, and the bearded vulture, and the ospray;
Pero éstas son las que no comerás: el águila, el buitre, el águila pescadora,
13 and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kinds;
el milano real, el halcón, el milano de cualquier clase,
14 and every raven after its kinds;
todo cuervo de cualquier clase,
15 and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kinds;
el avestruz, el búho, la gaviota, el halcón de cualquier clase,
16 the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl;
el búho chico, el búho grande, el búho cornudo,
17 and the pelican, and the carrion-vulture, and the cormorant;
el pelícano, el buitre, el cormorán,
18 and the stork, and the heron after its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
la cigüeña, la garza según su especie, la abubilla y el murciélago.
19 And all winged swarming things are unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.
Todos los reptiles alados son inmundos para ti. No se comerán.
20 Of all clean winged things ye may eat.
De todas las aves limpias comeréis.
21 Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself; thou mayest give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.
No comeréis nada que muera por sí mismo. Podrás dárselo al extranjero que viva entre ustedes y que esté dentro de sus puertas, para que lo coma; o podrás vendérselo a un extranjero, porque ustedes son un pueblo santo para el Señor, su Dios. No hervirás un cabrito en la leche de su madre.
22 Thou shalt surely tithe all the increase of thy seed, that which is brought forth in the field year by year.
Diezmarás todo el producto de tu semilla, lo que salga del campo cada año.
23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which He shall choose to cause His name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herd and of thy flock; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
Comerás delante de Yahvé vuestro Dios, en el lugar que él elija para hacer habitar su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino nuevo y de tu aceite, y de los primogénitos de tu ganado y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer siempre a Yahvé vuestro Dios.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set His name there, when the LORD thy God shall bless thee;
Si el camino es demasiado largo para ti, de modo que no puedas llevarlo porque el lugar que Yahvé vuestro Dios elegirá para fijar allí su nombre está demasiado lejos de ti, cuando Yahvé vuestro Dios te bendiga,
25 then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose.
entonces lo cambiaras por dinero, atarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar que Yahvé vuestro Dios elija.
26 And thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thy household.
Cambiarás el dinero por lo que tu alma desee: por ganado, o por ovejas, o por vino, o por bebida fuerte, o por lo que tu alma te pida. Allí comerás ante el Señor, tu Dios, y te alegrarás, tú y tu familia.
27 And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
No abandonarás al levita que está dentro de tus puertas, porque no tiene parte ni herencia contigo.
28 At the end of every three years, even in the same year, thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase, and shall lay it up within thy gates.
Al final de cada tres años traerás todo el diezmo de tu cosecha en el mismo año, y lo almacenarás dentro de tus puertas.
29 And the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
El levita, porque no tiene parte ni herencia contigo, así como el extranjero que vive entre ustedes, el huérfano y la viuda que están dentro de tus puertas, vendrán, comerán y se saciarán; para que el Señor, tu Dios, te bendiga en toda la obra de tu mano que hagas.
