Deuteronomy 11
1 Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep His charge, and His statutes, and His ordinances, and His commandments, alway.
"So liebe den Herrn, deinen Gott, und warte seines Amtes, seiner Gesetze, Gebote und Gebräuche!
2 And know ye this day; for I speak not with your children that have not known, and that have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, His greatness, His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm,
Beachtet, daß dies jetzt nicht euren Kindern gilt! Sie haben die Zucht des Herrn, eures Gottes, nicht erlebt und nicht erfahren seine Größe, seine starke Hand und seinen ausgereckten Arm,
3 and His signs, and His works, which He did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
seine Zeichen und Taten, die er in Ägypten an Ägyptens König Pharao und seinem ganzen Land getan,
4 and what He did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how He made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;
und was er getan an Ägyptens Heer, seinen Rossen und Wagen. Über sie hat der Herr des Schilfmeeres Wasser fluten lassen, als sie euch nachjagten; so vertilgte sie der Herr bis auf diesen Tag.
5 and what He did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place;
Und was er an euch in der Wüste getan bis zu eurer Ankunft an diesem Ort,
6 and what He did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living substance that followed them, in the midst of all Israel;
und was er getan an Datan und Abiram, den Söhnen des Rubensohnes Eliab, wie die Erde ihren Schlund aufgetan und sie dann verschlang inmitten von ganz Israel samt ihren Behausungen und Zelten und ihrem ganzen Gefolge.
7 but your eyes have seen all the great work of the LORD which He did.
Ihr dagegen sahet mit eigenen Augen all die Großtaten, die der Herr getan.
8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I command thee this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go over to possess it;
So achtet aller Gebote, die ich euch heute gebiete, damit ihr stark seid und das Land betretet und es einnehmt, das zu besetzen ihr hinüberschreitet,
9 and that ye may prolong your days upon the land, which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.
und damit ihr lange lebet in dem Lande, das der Herr euren Vätern und ihrem Stamme zugeschworen, in dem Lande, das von Milch und Honig fließt!
10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou didst sow thy seed, and didst water it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;
Denn das Land, in das du ziehst, es zu besetzen, gleicht nicht dem Lande Ägypten, aus dem du gezogen, das du mit deiner Saat besätest und das du, wie einen Gemüsegarten, mit deinem Fuß bewässert hast.
11 but the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water as the rain of heaven cometh down;
Das Land, in das ihr hinüberzieht, es zu besetzen, ist ein Land mit Bergen und Tälern; vom Regen des Himmels trinkt es Wasser,
12 a land which the LORD thy God careth for; the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
ein Land, für das der Herr, dein Gott, sorgt. Beständig ruhen des Herrn, deines Gottes, Augen auf ihm, vom Anfang bis zum Schluß des Jahres.
13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto My commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Gehorchet ihr treulich meinen Geboten, die ich euch heute gebiete, den Herrn, euren Gott, zu lieben und ihm von ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele zu dienen,
14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
dann gebe ich eurem Lande zur rechten Zeit Regen, Frühregen und Spätregen, daß du dein Korn, deinen Wein und dein Öl einheimsest.
15 And I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be satisfied.
Ich gebe auf deiner Flur Gras für dein Vieh, daß du essest und satt werdest.
16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
Hütet euch, daß euer Herz nicht betört werde und ihr abfallet, anderen Göttern dienet und euch davor hinwerfet!
17 and the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and He shut up the heaven, so that there shall be no rain, and the ground shall not yield her fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
Sonst entbrennt des Herrn Zorn gegen euch, und er sperrt den Himmel. Kein Regen fällt, und die Scholle gibt ihre Ernte nicht mehr. Dann schwindet ihr rasch aus dem schönen Lande, das der Herr euch gibt.
18 Therefore shall ye lay up these My words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.
Nehmt euch diese meine Worte zu Herzen und zu Gemüt! Bindet sie als Denkzeichen an eure Hand! Tragt sie als Marken zwischen euren Augen!
19 And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Lehrt sie eure Kinder, indem ihr davon redet, wenn du in deinem Hause weilst oder auf Reisen gehst, wenn du dich legst und wenn du aufstehst!
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;
Schreibe sie auf die Pfosten deines Hauses und an deine Tore,
21 that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, upon the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
auf daß sich eure und eurer Kinder Tage mehren in dem vom Herrn euren Vätern zugeschworenen Land, wie die Tage des Himmels über der Erde!
22 For if ye shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave unto Him,
Achtet ernstlich darauf, all diese Gebote, die ich gebiete zu tun, den Herrn, euren Gott, zu lieben, auf seinen Wegen zu wandeln und ihm anzuhängen!
23 then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.
Dann rottet der Herr all diese Völker vor euch aus, und ihr besiegt Völker, die größer und stärker als ihr.
24 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border.
Jeder Ort, den eure Fußsohle betritt, wird euer sein. Von der Wüste bis zum Libanon, vom Strome, dem Euphratstrom, bis ans Westmeer, das wird euer Gebiet sein.
25 There shall no man be able to stand against you: the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as He hath spoken unto you.
Niemand besteht vor euch. Furcht und Schrecken legt vor euch der Herr, euer Gott, über das ganze Land, das ihr nach seiner Verheißung betretet.
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:
Seht! Ich lege euch heute Segen und Fluch vor.
27 the blessing, if ye shall hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day;
Den Segen, falls ihr gehorchet des Herrn, eures Gottes, Geboten, die ich euch heute gebiete.
28 and the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
Den Fluch, wenn ihr nicht gehorcht den Geboten des Herrn, eures Gottes, wenn ihr abweicht von dem Weg, den ich euch heute gebiete, und anderen Göttern nachlauft, die ihr nicht kanntet.
29 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt set the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
Bringt dich der Herr, dein Gott, in das Land, in das du ziehst, es zu besetzen, so erteile den Segen auf dem Berge Garizim und den Fluch auf dem Berge Ebal!
30 Are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites that dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the terebinths of Moreh?
Liegen sie nicht jenseits des Jordans, westlich der Straße des Sonnenuntergangs, im Land der Kanaaniter, in der Steppe gegenüber Gilgal bei den Maulbeerbäumen?
31 For ye are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
Denn ihr überschreitet den Jordan, um vorzudringen und das Land zu besetzen, das euch der Herr, euer Gott, gibt. Habt ihr es besetzt und besiedelt,
32 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.
dann achtet, all die Gesetze und Gebräuche zu halten, die ich euch heute vorlege!"
