Daniel 6
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom a hundred and twenty satraps, who should be throughout the whole kingdom;
E pareceu bem a Dario constituir sobre o reino a cento e vinte presidentes, que estivessem sobre todo o reino;
2 and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one; that these satraps might give account unto them, and that the king should have no damage.
E sobre elles tres principes, dos quaes Daniel era um, aos quaes estes presidentes déssem conta, para que o rei não soffresse damno.
3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the presidents and the satraps, because a surpassing spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Então o mesmo Daniel sobrepujou a estes principes e presidentes; porque n'elle havia um espirito excellente; porquanto o rei pensava constituil-o sobre todo o reino.
4 Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
Então os principes e os presidentes procuravam achar occasião contra Daniel a respeito do reino; mas não podiam achar occasião ou culpa alguma; porque elle era fiel, e não se achava n'elle nenhum vicio nem culpa.
5 Then said these men: 'We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him in the matter of the law of his God.'
Então estes homens disseram: Nunca acharemos occasião alguma contra este Daniel, se não a acharmos contra elle na lei do seu Deus.
6 Then these presidents and satraps came tumultuously to the king, and said thus unto him: 'King Darius, live for ever!
Então estes principes e presidentes foram juntos ao rei, e disseram-lhe assim: Ó rei Dario, vive para sempre!
7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the ministers and the governors, have consulted together that the king should establish a statute, and make a strong interdict, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
Todos os principes do reino, os prefeitos e presidentes, capitães e governadores, tomaram conselho afim de estabelecerem um edicto real e fazerem um mandamento firme: que qualquer que, por espaço de trinta dias, fizer uma petição a qualquer deus, ou a qualquer homem, e não a ti, ó rei, seja lançado na cova dos leões.
8 Now, O king, establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.'
Agora pois, ó rei, confirma o edicto, e assigna a escriptura, para que não se mude, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que se não pode revogar.
9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the interdict.
Por esta causa o rei Dario assignou esta escriptura e edicto.
10 And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house — now his windows were open in his upper chamber toward Jerusalem — and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Daniel, pois, quando soube que a escriptura estava assignada, entrou na sua casa (ora havia no seu quarto janellas abertas da banda de Jerusalem), e tres vezes no dia se punha de joelhos, e orava, e confessava diante do seu Deus, como tambem antes costumava fazer.
11 Then these men came tumultuously, and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God.
Então aquelles homens foram juntos, e acharam a Daniel orando e supplicando diante do seu Deus.
12 Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's interdict: 'Hast thou not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition unto any god or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?' The king answered and said: 'The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.'
Então se chegaram, e disseram diante do rei: No tocante ao edicto real, porventura não assignaste o edicto, que todo o homem que fizesse uma petição a qualquer deus, ou a qualquer homem, por espaço de trinta dias, e não a ti, ó rei, fosse lançado na cova dos leões? Respondeu o rei, e disse: Esta palavra é certa, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que se não pode revogar.
13 Then answered they and said before the king: 'That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the interdict that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.'
Então responderam, e disseram diante do rei: Daniel, que é dos transportados de Judah, não tem feito caso de ti, ó rei, nem do edicto que assignaste, antes tres vezes por dia faz a sua oração.
14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
Ouvindo então o rei o negocio, ficou muito penalisado, e a favor de Daniel propoz dentro do seu coração tiral-o; e até ao pôr do sol trabalhou por o salvar.
15 Then these men came tumultuously unto the king, and said unto the king: 'Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no interdict nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.'
Então aquelles homens se foram juntos ao rei, e disseram ao rei: Sabe, ó rei, que é uma lei dos medos e dos persas que nenhum edicto ou ordenança, que o rei determine, se pode mudar.
16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said unto Daniel: 'Thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee.'
Então o rei ordenou que trouxessem a Daniel, e o lançaram na cova dos leões. E, fallando o rei, disse a Daniel: O teu Deus, a quem tu continuamente serves, elle te livrará.
17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.
E foi trazida uma pedra, e foi posta sobre a bocca da cova; e o rei a sellou com o seu annel e com o annel dos seus grandes, para que se não mudasse a sentença ácerca de Daniel.
18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; neither were diversions brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.
Então o rei se foi para o seu palacio, e passou a noite em jejum, e não deixou trazer á sua presença instrumentos de musica; e fugiu d'elle o somno.
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
Então o rei se levantou pela manhã cedo, e foi com pressa á cova dos leões.
20 And when he came near unto the den to Daniel, he cried with a pained voice; the king spoke and said to Daniel: 'O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?'
E, chegando-se á cova, chamou por Daniel com voz triste; e, fallando o rei, disse a Daniel: Daniel, servo do Deus vivo! dar-se-hia o caso que o teu Deus, a quem tu continuamente serves, te podesse livrar dos leões?
21 Then said Daniel unto the king: 'O king, live for ever!
Então Daniel fallou ao rei: Ó rei, vive para sempre!
22 My God hath sent His angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me; forasmuch as before Him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.'
O meu Deus enviou o seu anjo, e fechou a bocca dos leões, para que não me fizessem damno, porque foi achada em mim innocencia diante d'elle; e tambem contra ti, ó rei, não tenho commettido delicto algum.
23 Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God.
Então o rei muito se alegrou em si mesmo, e mandou tirar a Daniel da cova: assim foi tirado Daniel da cova, e nenhum damno se achou n'elle, porque crêra no seu Deus.
24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men that had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and they had not come to the bottom of the den, when the lions had the mastery of them, and broke all their bones in pieces.
Então ordenou o rei, e foram trazidos aquelles homens que tinham accusado a Daniel, e foram lançados na cova dos leões, elles, seus filhos e suas mulheres; e ainda não tinham chegado ao fundo da cova quando os leões se apoderaram d'elles, e lhes esmigalharam todos os ossos.
25 Then king Darius wrote unto all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: 'Peace be multiplied unto you.
Então o rei Dario escreveu a todos os povos, nações e linguas que moram em toda a terra: A paz vos seja multiplicada.
26 I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall be even unto the end;
Da minha parte é feito um decreto, que em todo o dominio do meu reino tremam todos e temam perante o Deus de Daniel; porque elle é o Deus vivo e permanecente para sempre, e o seu reino não se pode destruir, e o seu dominio dura até ao fim
27 He delivereth and rescueth, and He worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth; who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.'
Elle faz escapar e livra, e faz signaes e maravilhas no céu e na terra, o qual fez escapar a Daniel do poder dos leões.
28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Este Daniel, pois, prosperava no reinado de Dario, e no reinado de Cyro, o persa.
