Daniel 5
1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
O rei Belsazar fez um grande banquete para mil de seus senhores, e bebeu vinho antes dos mil.
2 Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his consorts and his concubines, might drink therein.
Belsazar, enquanto provava o vinho, ordenou que os vasos de ouro e prata que Nabucodonosor, seu pai, havia tirado do templo que estava em Jerusalém, fossem trazidos a ele, para que o rei e seus senhores, suas esposas e suas concubinas bebessem deles.
3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his lords, his consorts and his concubines, drank in them.
Depois trouxeram os vasos de ouro que foram retirados do templo da casa de Deus que estava em Jerusalém; e o rei e seus senhores, suas esposas e suas concubinas beberam deles.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
They beberam vinho, e louvaram os deuses do ouro, da prata, do bronze, do ferro, da madeira e da pedra.
5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace; and the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote.
Na mesma hora, os dedos da mão de um homem saíram e escreveram perto do suporte da lâmpada no reboco da parede do palácio do rei. O rei viu a parte da mão que escreveu.
6 Then the king's countenance was changed in him, and his thoughts affrighted him; and the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
Então o rosto do rei mudou nele, e seus pensamentos o perturbaram; e as articulações de suas coxas foram afrouxadas, e seus joelhos bateram uns contra os outros.
7 The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon: 'Whosoever shall read this writing, and declare unto me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall rule as one of three in the kingdom.'
O rei clamou em voz alta para trazer os encantadores, os caldeus e os adivinhadores. O rei falou e disse aos sábios da Babilônia: “Quem ler este escrito e me mostrar sua interpretação será revestido de púrpura, e terá uma corrente de ouro em seu pescoço, e será o terceiro governante no reino”.
8 Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation.
Então todos os sábios do rei entraram; mas não conseguiram ler a escrita, e não puderam dar a conhecer ao rei a interpretação.
9 Then was king Belshazzar greatly affrighted, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were perplexed.
Então o rei Belsazar ficou muito perturbado, e seu rosto foi mudado nele, e seus senhores ficaram perplexos.
10 Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house; the queen spoke and said: 'O king, live for ever! let not thy thoughts affright thee, nor let thy countenance be changed;
A rainha, em razão das palavras do rei e seus senhores, entrou na casa de banquete. A rainha falou e disse: “Ó rei, viva para sempre; não deixe que seus pensamentos o incomodem, nem deixe que seu rosto seja mudado”.
11 there is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; and the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers;
Há um homem em teu reino no qual está o espírito dos deuses santos; e nos dias de teu pai, luz, entendimento e sabedoria, como a sabedoria dos deuses, foram encontrados nele. O rei, Nabucodonosor, seu pai - sim, o rei, seu pai o fez mestre dos mágicos, encantadores, caldeus e adivinhadores,
12 forasmuch as a surpassing spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and declaring of riddles, and loosing of knots, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will declare the interpretation.'
porque um excelente espírito, conhecimento, compreensão, interpretação de sonhos, exibição de frases obscuras e dissolução de dúvidas foram encontrados no mesmo Daniel, a quem o rei chamou de Belteshazzar. Que Daniel seja chamado agora, e ele mostrará a interpretação”.
13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. The king spoke and said unto Daniel: 'Art thou Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?
Então Daniel foi trazido perante o rei. O rei falou e disse a Daniel: “Você é aquele Daniel dos filhos do cativeiro de Judá, que o rei meu pai trouxe de Judá?
14 I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and surpassing wisdom is found in thee.
Ouvi falar de ti, que o espírito dos deuses está em ti e que em ti se encontra luz, compreensão e excelente sabedoria.
15 And now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof; but they could not declare the interpretation of the thing.
Agora os sábios, os encantadores, foram trazidos diante de mim, para que lessem este escrito e me façam conhecer sua interpretação; mas não puderam mostrar a interpretação da coisa.
16 But I have heard of thee, that thou canst give interpretations, and loose knots; now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt rule as one of three in the kingdom.'
Mas já ouvi falar de vocês, que podem dar interpretações e dissolver dúvidas. Agora, se vocês puderem ler este escrito e fazer-me conhecer sua interpretação, vocês estarão vestidos de roxo, e terão uma corrente de ouro ao redor de seu pescoço, e serão o terceiro governante no reino”.
17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king: 'Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
Então Daniel respondeu diante do rei: “Que seus presentes sejam para você mesmo, e dê suas recompensas a outro”. No entanto, vou ler o escrito para o rei, e lhe darei a interpretação.
18 O thou king, God Most High gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty;
“Para você, rei, o Altíssimo Deus deu a Nabucodonosor seu pai o reino, a grandeza, a glória e a majestade.
19 and because of the greatness that He gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down.
Por causa da grandeza que ele lhe deu, todos os povos, nações e línguas estremeceram e temeram diante dele. Ele matou quem ele queria e manteve vivo quem ele queria. Ele levantou quem queria, e derrubou quem queria.
20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him;
Mas quando seu coração se elevou e seu espírito se endureceu, de modo que ele lidou com orgulho, ele foi deposto de seu trono real, e eles lhe tiraram sua glória.
21 and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that God Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and that He setteth up over it whomsoever He will.
Ele foi expulso dos filhos dos homens, e seu coração foi feito como o dos animais, e sua morada era com os burros selvagens. Ele foi alimentado com grama como os bois, e seu corpo foi molhado com o orvalho do céu, até saber que o Deus Altíssimo governa no reino dos homens, e que ele o estabelece sobre quem quer que ele queira.
22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this;
“Você, seu filho, Belsazar, não humilhou seu coração, embora soubesse de tudo isso,
23 but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy consorts and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified;
mas se levantou contra o Senhor do céu; e eles trouxeram os vasos de sua casa diante de você, e você e seus senhores, suas esposas e suas concubinas, beberam vinho deles. Vós louvastes os deuses de prata e ouro, de bronze, ferro, madeira e pedra, que não vêem, nem ouvem, nem sabem; e não glorificastes o Deus em cuja mão está vossa respiração, e de quem são todos os vossos caminhos.
24 then was the palm of the hand sent from before Him, and this writing was inscribed.
Então a parte da mão foi enviada de antes dele, e esta escrita foi inscrita.
25 And this is the writing that was inscribed: MENE MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.
“Esta é a redação que foi inscrita: “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN”.
26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and brought it to an end.
“Esta é a interpretação da coisa: MENE: Deus contou seu reino, e o pôs um fim.
27 TEKEL, Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
TEKEL: você é pesado na balança, e é encontrado em falta.
28 PERES, thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.'
PERES: seu reino está dividido, e dado aos medos e persas”.
29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should rule as one of three in the kingdom.
Então Belshazzar ordenou, e eles vestiram Daniel de roxo, e colocaram uma corrente de ouro em seu pescoço, e fizeram uma proclamação a seu respeito, que ele deveria ser o terceiro governante no reino.
30 In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain.
Nessa noite Belshazzar, o Rei Caldeu, foi assassinado.
31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
Darius o Mede recebeu o reino, com cerca de sessenta e dois anos de idade.
