< Daniel 10 >
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the word was true, even a great warfare; and he gave heed to the word, and had understanding of the vision.
ʻI hono tolu ʻoe taʻu ʻo Kolesi ko e tuʻi ʻo Peasia, naʻe ai ha meʻa naʻe fakahā kia Taniela, ʻaia naʻe hingoa ko Pelitisasa; pea naʻe moʻoni ʻae meʻa, ka naʻe fuoloa ʻae kuonga naʻe tuʻutuʻuni ki ai, pea naʻa ne poto ʻi he meʻa, pea naʻe ʻiate ia ʻae ʻiloʻi ʻoe meʻa hā mai.
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three whole weeks.
ʻI he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, ko au Taniela ne u mamahi ʻi he uike kātoa ʻe tolu.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Naʻe ʻikai te u kai ʻae mā melie, pea naʻe ʻikai ʻi hoku ngutu ʻae kanomate pe ha uaine, pea naʻe ʻikai siʻi te u takai au, kaeʻoua ke kakato ʻae uike ʻe tolu.
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Tigris,
Pea ʻi hono uofulu ma fā ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe ʻuluaki māhina, ʻi heʻeku nofo ʻi he veʻe vaitafe lahi, ʻaia ʻoku ui ko Hitikeli;
5 I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz;
Ne u hanga hake ai hoku mata ʻo sio, pea vakai, ko e tangata naʻe kofuʻaki ʻae tupenu lelei, pea naʻe noʻo hono noʻotanga vala ʻaki ʻae koula lelei ʻo ʻUfasi:
6 his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as torches of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
Ko hono sino foki naʻe hangē ko e pelili, pea ko hono mata naʻe hangē ko e ʻuhila, pea mo hono ongo mata naʻe hangē ko e ongo maama afi, pea ko hono nima mo hono vaʻe, naʻe ulo ʻo tatau mo e palasa kuo fakangingila, pea ko hono leʻo ʻi heʻene lea, naʻe hangē ko e leʻo ʻoe tokolahi.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; howbeit a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves.
Pea ko au Taniela ne u mamata tokotaha pe ki he meʻa hā mai: he ko e kau tangata naʻe ʻi ai mo au naʻe ʻikai te nau mamata ki he meʻa hā mai; ka naʻe hoko ʻae manavahē lahi kiate kinautolu, ko ia naʻa nau hola ke fakafufū ʻakinautolu.
8 So that I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
Ko ia naʻe tuku tokotaha pe au, pea ne u mamata ki he meʻa lahi ni naʻe hā mai, pea naʻe ʻikai toe ha mālohi siʻi ʻiate au: he naʻe liliu ʻiate au ʻa ʻeku matamatalelei ʻo fakalielia, pea naʻe ʻikai te u kei maʻu ha mālohi.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.
Ka naʻaku fanongo pe ki he leʻo ʻo ʻene ngaahi lea: pea ʻi heʻeku fanongo ki he leʻo ʻo ʻene ngaahi lea, naʻe lolotonga ia ʻae mohe maʻu ʻa hoku mata, ʻo fakafoʻohifo hoku mata ki he kelekele.
10 And, behold, a hand touched me, which set me tottering upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
Pea vakai, naʻe ala mai ha nima kiate au, mo ne fokotuʻu au ki hoku ongo tui mo hoku ʻaofi nima.
11 And he said unto me: 'O Daniel, thou man greatly beloved, give heed unto the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for now am I sent unto thee'; and when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
Pea ne pehē mai kiate au, “ʻE Taniela, ko e tangata ʻofeina lahi, ke ke ʻilo ʻae ngaahi lea ʻaia ʻoku ou lea ʻaki kiate koe, pea ke tuʻu tonu: he kuo toki fekau au kiate koe.” Pea hili ʻene lea ʻaki ʻae lea ni kiate au, ne u tuʻu tetetete pe.
12 Then said he unto me: 'Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard; and I am come because of thy words.
Pea ne toki pehē mai kiate au, “ʻOua naʻa ke manavahē, Taniela: he kuo talu ʻae ʻuluaki ʻaho ʻaia naʻa ke tukupau ai ho loto ke ʻilo, pea naʻa ke fakamamahiʻi koe ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻOtua, naʻe ongoʻi hoʻo ngaahi lea, pea koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ngaahi lea kuo u haʻu au.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I was left over there beside the kings of Persia.
Ka naʻe taʻofi au ʻe he ʻEiki ʻoe puleʻanga ʻo Peasia, ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻe uofulu ma taha: kae vakai, naʻe haʻu ʻa Maikeli, ko e tokotaha ia ʻoku tuʻu ki muʻa, ke tokoni au; pea ne u nofo ai mo e ngaahi tuʻi ʻo Peasia.
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the end of days; for there is yet a vision for the days.'
Pea ko eni, kuo u haʻu ke fakahā kiate koe, ʻae meʻa e hoko ki hoʻo kakai ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho fakamui: he ʻoku kau ʻae meʻa hā mai ki he ngaahi ʻaho lahi.”
15 And when he had spoken unto me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was dumb.
Pea ʻi heʻene lea pehē kiate au, ne u foʻohifo hoku mata ki he kelekele, pea ne u longo pe.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said unto him that stood before me: 'O my lord, by reason of the vision my pains are come upon me, and I retain no strength.
Pea vakai, ko e tokotaha naʻe hangē ko ha taha ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata, naʻe ala mai ki hoku loungutu: pea ne u toki mafaʻa hoku ngutu, ʻo lea, pea ne u pehē kiate ia naʻe tuʻu ʻi hoku ʻao, “ʻE hoku ʻEiki, ko e meʻa ʻi he meʻa hā mai, kuo toe foki mai ʻeku mamahi kiate au, pea ʻoku ʻikai te u kei maʻu ha mālohi.
17 For how can this servant of my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.'
He koeʻuhi ʻe faʻa alea fēfē ʻae tamaioʻeiki ʻo hoku ʻEiki ni, mo hoku ʻEiki ni? He ko au eni, naʻe fakafokifā ʻoku ʻikai toe ha mālohi ʻiate au, pea kuo ʻosi foki mo ʻeku mānava.”
18 Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me.
Pea naʻe toe haʻu ha taha ʻo hangē ko ha tangata, ʻo ala mai kiate au, ʻo ne fakamālohi au,
19 And he said: 'O man greatly beloved, fear not! peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong.' And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said: 'Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.'
Pea ne pehē mai ʻe ia, “ʻE tangata ʻofeina lahi, ʻOua naʻa ke manavahē: fiemālie pe koe, pea ke mālohi, ʻio, ke ke mālohi.” Pea ʻi heʻene lea kiate au ne u mālohi, pea ne u pehē, “Ke lea pe ʻa hoku ʻEiki, he kuo ke fakamālohi au.”
20 Then said he: Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I go forth, lo, the prince of Greece shall come.
Pea naʻe toki pehē ʻe ia, “ʻOku ke ʻilo hono ʻuhinga ʻo ʻeku haʻu kiate koe; pea ko eni, te u foki atu ke tau mo e tuʻi ʻo Peasia: pea ʻi heʻeku ʻalu atu, vakai ʻe haʻu ʻae ʻeiki ʻo Kalisi.
21 Howbeit I will declare unto thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth; and there is none that holdeth with me against these, except Michael your prince.
Ka te u fakahā kiate koe ʻaia ʻoku tohi ʻi he tohi tapu moʻoni: pea ʻoku ʻikai mo ha niʻihi ʻoku kau mo au ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni, ka ko Maikeli ko hoʻomou ʻeiki.”
