Amos 1
1 THE WORDS of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Mawu a Amosi, mmodzi mwa anthu oweta nkhosa ku Tekowa. Zimene iye anaona mʼmasomphenya zokhudza Israeli patatsala zaka ziwiri kuti chivomerezi chichitike, nthawi imene Uziya anali mfumu ya Yuda ndipo Yeroboamu mwana wa Yowasi anali mfumu ya Israeli.
2 And he said: The LORD roareth from Zion, and uttereth His voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
Amosi anati: “Yehova akubangula mu Ziyoni ndipo akumveka ngati bingu mu Yerusalemu; msipu wa abusa ukulira, ndipo pamwamba pa Karimeli pakuwuma.”
3 For thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Damascus, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have threshed Gilead with sledges of iron.
Yehova akuti, “Chifukwa anthu a ku Damasiko akunka nachimwirachimwira, Ine sindileka kuwalanga. Popeza anapuntha Giliyadi ndi zopunthira za mano achitsulo,
4 So will I send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad;
Ine ndidzatumiza moto pa nyumba ya Hazaeli umene udzanyeketsa nyumba zaufumu za Beni-Hadadi.
5 And I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from Bikath-Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-eden; and the people of Aram shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
Ndidzathyola chipata cha Damasiko; ndidzawononga mfumu yokhala ku Chigwa cha Aveni, ndiponso iye amene akugwira ndodo yaufumu mu Beti-Edeni. Anthu a ku Aramu adzapita ku ukapolo ku Kiri,” akutero Yehova.
6 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Gaza, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they carried away captive a whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom.
Yehova akuti, “Chifukwa anthu a ku Gaza akunka nachimwirachimwira, Ine sindileka kuwalanga. Popeza anatenga ukapolo mtundu wathunthu ndi kuwugulitsa ku Edomu,
7 So will I send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour the palaces thereof;
ndidzatumiza moto pa makoma a Gaza umene udzanyeketsa nyumba zake zaufumu.
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; and I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
Ndidzawononga mfumu ya ku Asidodi komanso amene akugwira ndodo yaufumu ku Asikeloni. Ndidzalanga Ekroni, mpaka wotsala mwa Afilisti atafa,” akutero Ambuye Yehova.
9 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Tyre, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they delivered up a whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant.
Yehova akuti, “Chifukwa anthu a ku Turo akunka nachimwirachimwira, Ine sindileka kuwalanga. Popeza iwo anagulitsa mtundu wathunthu ku ukapolo ku Edomu, osasunga pangano laubale lija,
10 So will I send a fire on the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
Ine ndidzatumiza moto pa makoma a Turo umene udzanyeketsa nyumba zake zaufumu.”
11 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Edom, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever.
Yehova akuti, “Chifukwa anthu a ku Edomu akunka nachimwirachimwira, Ine sindileka kuwalanga. Popeza anathamangitsa mʼbale wake ndi lupanga, popanda nʼchifundo chomwe. Popeza mkwiyo wake unakulabe ndipo ukali wake sunatonthozeke,
12 So will I send a fire upon Teman, and it shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
Ine ndidzatumiza moto pa Temani umene udzanyeketsa nyumba zaufumu za Bozira.”
13 Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.
Yehova akuti, “Chifukwa anthu a ku Amoni akunka nachimwirachimwira, Ine sindileka kuwalanga. Popeza anatumbula akazi oyembekezera a ku Giliyadi nʼcholinga choti akuze malire awo,
14 So will I kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;
Ine ndidzayatsa moto pa makoma a ku Raba umene udzanyeketsa nyumba zake zaufumu. Padzakhala kulira kwakukulu pa tsiku la nkhondoyo, kumenyana kudzakhala kwafumbi ngati mkuntho wa kamvuluvulu.
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
Mfumu yawo idzatengedwa kupita ku ukapolo, iyo pamodzi ndi akuluakulu ake,” akutero Yehova.
