Amos 8
1 Thus the Lord GOD showed me; and behold a basket of summer fruit.
യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് എന്നെ കാണിച്ചത് ഇതാണ്: ഒരു കുട്ട നിറയെ പാകമായ പഴം:
2 And He said: 'Amos, what seest thou?' And I said: 'A basket of summer fruit.' Then said the LORD unto me: The end is come upon My people Israel; I will not again pardon them any more.
“ആമോസേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു?” എന്ന് യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചു. “ഒരു കുട്ട നിറയെ പാകമായ പഴം കാണുന്നു,” എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “എന്റെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ സമയം പാകമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി ഞാൻ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല.”
3 And the songs of the palace shall be wailings in that day, saith the Lord GOD; the dead bodies shall be many; in every place silence shall be cast.
യഹോവയായ കർത്താവു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നു: “ആ ദിവസത്തിൽ ആലയത്തിലെ ഗാനങ്ങൾ വിലാപമായിത്തീരും. നിരവധി, നിരവധി ശരീരങ്ങൾ എറിയപ്പെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്നു! നിശ്ശബ്ദമായിരിക്കുക!”
4 Hear this, O ye that would swallow the needy, and destroy the poor of the land,
ദരിദ്രരെ ചവിട്ടിമെതിക്കുന്നവരേ, ദേശത്തിലെ സാധുക്കളെ ഓടിച്ചുകളയുന്നവരേ, ഇതു കേൾക്കുക:
5 Saying: 'When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth corn? making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances of deceit;
അവർ പറയുന്നു, “ധാന്യം വിൽക്കേണ്ടതിന് അമാവാസി എപ്പോൾ കഴിയും? ഗോതമ്പു വിൽക്കേണ്ടതിന് ശബ്ബത്ത് എപ്പോൾ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും?” അവർ അളവുപാത്രം ചെറുതാക്കുന്നു, വില വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു കള്ളത്തുലാസുകൊണ്ടു വഞ്ചിക്കുന്നു,
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the refuse of the corn?'
ദരിദ്രരെ വെള്ളിക്കുപകരമായും എളിയവരെ ഒരു ജോടി ചെരിപ്പിനുപകരമായും വാങ്ങുന്നു, ഗോതമ്പിന്റെ പതിരുപോലും അവർ വിൽക്കുന്നു.
7 The LORD hath sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their works.
യഹോവ യാക്കോബിന്റെ നിഗളത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി ശപഥംചെയ്തു: “അവർ ചെയ്തതൊന്നും ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലും മറക്കുകയില്ല.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? Yea, it shall rise up wholly like the River; and it shall be troubled and sink again, like the River of Egypt.
“ദേശം ഇതുനിമിത്തം നടുങ്ങുകയില്ലയോ? അതിൽ പാർക്കുന്നവർ വിലപിക്കുകയില്ലയോ? ദേശംമുഴുവനും നൈൽനദിപോലെ ഉയരും; ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ നദിപോലെ അതു പൊങ്ങുകയും താഴുകയും ചെയ്യും.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
“യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ആ ദിവസത്തിൽ, സൂര്യനെ ഞാൻ നട്ടുച്ചയ്ക്ക് അസ്തമിപ്പിക്കും മധ്യാഹ്നത്തിൽ ഭൂമിയിൽ ഞാൻ ഇരുട്ടു പരത്തും.
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്സവങ്ങളെ ഞാൻ വിലാപങ്ങളാക്കിത്തീർക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ സംഗീതം കരച്ചിലായിത്തീരും. നിങ്ങളെ എല്ലാവരെയും ചാക്കുശീല ഉടുപ്പിക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ തല ക്ഷൗരംചെയ്യിക്കും. ആ സമയം, ഏകപുത്രന്റെ വിയോഗത്തിൽ വിലപിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ആക്കും അതിന്റെ അവസാനം അത്യന്തം കയ്‌പുമായിരിക്കും.”
11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.
യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ ദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം അയയ്ക്കുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങൾ വരുന്നു. അത് അപ്പത്തിനായുള്ള ക്ഷാമമോ വെള്ളത്തിനായുള്ള ദാഹമോ അല്ല; പിന്നെയോ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്കാനുള്ള മഹാക്ഷാമംതന്നെ.
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
അന്ന് അവർ സമുദ്രംമുതൽ സമുദ്രംവരെ അലയും വടക്കുമുതൽ കിഴക്കുവരെ അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കും. അവർ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അന്വേഷിക്കും, എന്നാൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst.
“ആ ദിവസത്തിൽ, “സൗന്ദര്യമുള്ള യുവതികളും ശക്തരായ യുവാക്കന്മാരും ദാഹംകൊണ്ടു തളർന്നുപോകും.
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say: 'As thy God, O Dan, liveth'; and: 'As the way of Beer-sheba liveth'; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
ശമര്യയുടെ പാപത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നവരും, ‘ദാനേ, നിന്റെ ദൈവത്താണെ’ എന്നോ ‘ബേർ-ശേബയിലെ ദേവനാണെ’ എന്നോ ശപഥംചെയ്യുന്നവരും വീണുപോകും: പിന്നീടൊരിക്കലും അവർ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുകയില്ല.”
