Amos 7

1 Thus the Lord GOD showed me; and, behold, He formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

Así me lo mostró el Señor Yahvé: he aquí que formó langostas al principio del brote de la última hierba; y he aquí que era la última hierba después de la cosecha del rey.

2 And if it had come to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land — so I said: O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech Thee; how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.

Cuando terminaron de comer la hierba de la tierra, entonces dije: “¡Señor Yahvé, perdona, te lo ruego! ¿Cómo pudo Jacob mantenerse en pie? Porque es pequeño”.

3 The LORD repented concerning this; 'It shall not be', saith the LORD.

Yahvé cedió al respecto. “No será”, dice Yahvé.

4 Thus the Lord GOD showed me; and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.

Así me lo mostró el Señor Yahvé: he aquí que el Señor Yahvé llamó al juicio por el fuego, y éste secó el gran abismo, y hubiera devorado la tierra.

5 Then said I: O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech Thee; how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.

Entonces dije: “¡Señor Yahvé, detente, te lo ruego! ¿Cómo podrá resistir Jacob? Porque es pequeño”.

6 The LORD repented concerning this; 'This also shall not be', saith the Lord GOD.

Yahvé cedió al respecto. “Esto tampoco será”, dice el Señor Yahvé.

7 Thus He showed me; and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in His hand.

Así me lo mostró: he aquí que el Señor estaba de pie junto a un muro hecho con una plomada, con una plomada en la mano.

8 And the LORD said unto me: 'Amos, what seest thou?' And I said: 'A plumbline.' Then said the Lord: Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of My people Israel; I will not again pardon them any more;

El Señor me dijo: “Amós, ¿qué ves?” Dije: “Una plomada”. Entonces el Señor dijo: “He aquí que voy a poner una plomada en medio de mi pueblo Israel. No volveré a pasar por ellos.

9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

Los lugares altos de Isaac quedarán desolados, los santuarios de Israel serán asolados; y me levantaré contra la casa de Jeroboam con la espada.”

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: 'Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words.

Entonces Amasías, sacerdote de Betel, envió a decir a Jeroboam, rey de Israel: “Amós ha conspirado contra ti en medio de la casa de Israel. La tierra no puede soportar todas sus palabras.

11 For thus Amos saith: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'

Porque Amós dice: ‘Jeroboam morirá a espada, e Israel será llevado cautivo de su tierra’”.

12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos: 'O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there;

Amasías también le dijo a Amós: “¡Vidente, vete, huye a la tierra de Judá, y come allí el pan, y profetiza allí,

13 but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house.'

pero no vuelvas a profetizar en Betel, porque es el santuario del rey, y es una casa real!”

14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah: 'I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdman, and a dresser of sycamore-trees;

Entonces Amós respondió a Amasías: “Yo no era profeta, ni hijo de profeta, sino que era pastor y cultivador de higos sicómoros;

15 and the LORD took me from following the flock, and the LORD said unto me: Go, prophesy unto My people Israel.

y Yahvé me sacó del seguimiento del rebaño, y me dijo: ‘Ve, profetiza a mi pueblo Israel’.

16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest: Prophesy not against Israel, and preach not against the house of Isaac;

Ahora, pues, escucha la palabra de Yahvé: ‘Tú dices: No profetices contra Israel, y no prediques contra la casa de Isaac.’

17 Therefore thus saith the LORD: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in an unclean land, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'

Por eso dice Yahvé: ‘Tu mujer se prostituirá en la ciudad, y tus hijos y tus hijas caerán a espada, y tu tierra será dividida por líneas; y tú mismo morirás en una tierra inmunda, e Israel será llevado cautivo fuera de su tierra.’”
