Amos 6
1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!
Biada beztroskim na Syjonie i pokładającym ufność w górze Samarii; tym, którzy są przywódcami wśród tych narodów, do których schodzi się dom Izraela.
2 Pass ye unto Calneh, and see, and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines; are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?
Idźcie do Kalne i rozejrzyjcie się, a stamtąd idźcie do Chamat wielkiego. Potem zstąpcie do Gat filistyńskiego. Czy są to lepsze królestwa niż te? Czy ich obszar jest większy niż wasz obszar?
3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
[Biada wam, którzy sądzicie], że dzień zły jest daleko i przybliżacie panowanie przemocy;
4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
Którzy sypiacie na łożach z kości słoniowej, a rozciągacie się na swoich posłaniach; którzy jadacie jagnięta z trzody, a cielce tuczone z zagrody;
5 That thrum on the psaltery, that devise for themselves instruments of music, like David;
Którzy śpiewacie przy lutni i wymyślacie sobie instrumenty muzyczne jak Dawid;
6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments; but they are not grieved for the hurt of Joseph.
Którzy pijecie wino z czasz i namaszczacie się drogimi maściami, a nie bolejecie nad utrapieniem Józefa.
7 Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of them that go captive, and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.
Dlatego teraz pójdą do niewoli na czele pojmanych i skończy się biesiada hulaków.
8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by Himself, saith the LORD, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, and hate his palaces; and I will deliver up the city with all that is therein.
Pan BÓG przysiągł na siebie samego, mówi PAN, Bóg zastępów: Obrzydła mi pycha Jakuba i nienawidzę jego pałaców. Dlatego wydam miasto i wszystko, co w nim jest.
9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
A stanie się tak: Jeśli pozostanie dziesięć osób w jednym domu i one pomrą.
10 And when a man's uncle shall take him up, even he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house: 'Is there yet any with thee?' and he shall say: 'No'; then shall he say: 'Hold thy peace; for we must not make mention of the name of the LORD.'
I każdego z nich weźmie jego stryj, i spali go, aby wynieść kości z domu, i zapyta tego, który jest w zakątkach domu: Czy jest jeszcze ktoś z tobą? A [ten] odpowie: Nie ma. Wtedy powie: Milcz, bo nie wolno wspominać imienia PANA.
11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten into splinters, and the little house into chips.
Oto bowiem PAN rozkaże i uderzy w wielki dom rozpadlinami, a w mały dom – pęknięciem.
12 Do horses run upon the rocks? Doth one plow there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;
Czy konie mogą biegać po skale? Czy można [tam] orać wołami? Sąd bowiem zamieniliście w truciznę, a owoc sprawiedliwości w piołun.
13 Ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say: 'Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?'
[Biada wam], którzy się cieszycie, a to z niczego, mówiąc: Czy nie wzięliśmy sobie rogów własną siłą?
14 For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath unto the Brook of the Arabah.
Ale oto ja wzbudzę naród przeciwko wam, domu Izraela, mówi PAN, Bóg zastępów, który was będzie uciskał od wejścia do Chamat aż do strumienia pustyni.
