Amos 5
1 Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:
Oíd esta palabra, porque yo levanto endecha sobre vosotros, casa de Israel.
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up.
Cayó, nunca más se levantará la virgen de Israel: fue dejada sobre su tierra, no hay quien la levante.
3 For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, of the house of Israel.
Porque así dijo el Señor Jehová: la ciudad que sacaba mil, quedará con ciento; y la que sacaba ciento, quedará con diez en la casa de Israel.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel: Seek ye Me, and live;
Porque así dijo Jehová a la casa de Israel: Buscádme, y vivíd.
5 But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
Y no busquéis a Bet-el, ni entréis en Gálgala, ni paséis a Beer-seba; porque Gálgala será llevada en cautividad, y Bet-el será deshecha.
6 Seek the LORD, and live — lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel —
Buscád a Jehová, y vivíd; porque no hienda, como fuego, a la casa de José, y la consuma, y no haya en Bet-el quien lo apague.
7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast righteousness to the ground;
Que convierten en ajenjo el juicio, y dejan en tierra la justicia.
8 Him that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and bringeth on the shadow of death in the morning, and darkeneth the day into night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is His name;
El que hace el Arcturo y el Orión, y las tinieblas vuelve en mañana, y hace oscurecer el día en noche: el que llama a las aguas de la mar, y las derrama sobre la haz de la tierra, Jehová es su nombre.
9 That causeth destruction to flash upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.
El que da esfuerzo al robador sobre el fuerte, y que el robador venga contra la fortaleza.
10 They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
Aborrecieron en la puerta al reprensor, y al que hablaba lo recto abominaron.
11 Therefore, because ye trample upon the poor, and take from him exactions of wheat; ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them, ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine thereof.
Por tanto por vuestro molestar al pobre, y recibís de él carga de trigo, edificasteis casas de sillares, mas no las habitaréis: plantasteis hermosas viñas, mas no beberéis el vino de ellas.
12 For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins; ye that afflict the just, that take a ransom, and that turn aside the needy in the gate.
Porque sabido he vuestras muchas rebeliones, y vuestros gruesos pecados: que afligen al justo, y reciben cohecho, y a los pobres en la puerta hacen perder su causa.
13 Therefore the prudent doth keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.
Por lo cual el prudente en tal tiempo calla, porque el tiempo es malo.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.
Buscád lo bueno, y no lo malo, para que viváis: porque así será con vosotros Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, como decís.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Aborrecéd el mal, y amád el bien, y ponéd juicio en la puerta: quizá Jehová Dios de los ejércitos habrá piedad de la resta de José.
16 Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Lamentation shall be in all the broad places, and they shall say in all the streets: 'Alas! alas!' and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and proclaim lamentation to such as are skilful of wailing.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, el Señor: En todas las plazas habrá llanto, y en todas las calles dirán; ¡Ay, ay! y al labrador llamarán a lloro, y a endecha, a los que supieren endechar.
17 And in all vineyards shall be lamentation; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
Y en todas las viñas habrá llanto, porque pasaré por medio de ti, dijo Jehová.
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! Wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? It is darkness, and not light.
¡Ay de los que desean el día de Jehová! ¿para qué queréis este día de Jehová? Tinieblas, y no luz.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; and went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
Como el que huye de delante del león, y se topa con el oso; o, si entrare en casa, y arrime su mano a la pared, y le muerda la culebra.
20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
¿El día de Jehová, no es tinieblas, y no luz: oscuridad, que no tiene resplandor?
21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
Aborrecí, abominé vuestras solemnidades, y no me darán buen olor vuestras congregaciones.
22 Yea, though ye offer me burnt-offerings and your meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.
Y si me ofreciereis holocaustos y vuestros presentes, no los recibiré: ni miraré a los sacrificios pacíficos de vuestros engordados.
23 Take thou away from Me the noise of thy songs; and let Me not hear the melody of thy psalteries.
Quita de mí la multitud de tus cantares; y las salmodias de tus instrumentos no oiré.
24 But let justice well up as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Y corra como las aguas el juicio, y la justicia como arroyo impetuoso.
25 Did ye bring unto Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
¿Habéisme ofrecido sacrificios y presente en el desierto en cuarenta años, casa de Israel?
26 So shall ye take up Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Y ofrecisteis a Sicut, vuestro rey, y a Quión, vuestros ídolos, estrella de vuestros dioses que os hicisteis.
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith He, whose name is the LORD God of hosts.
Haréos pues trasportar de ese cabo de Damasco, dijo Jehová, Dios de los ejércitos es su nombre.
