Amos 5
1 Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:
Ouvi esta palavra que eu levanto sobre vós, uma lamentação, ó casa de Israel.
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up.
A virgem Israel caiu, não poderá mais se levantar; abandonada está sobre sua terra, ninguém há que a levante.
3 For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, of the house of Israel.
Porque assim diz o Senhor DEUS: A cidade que enviou mil [soldados] sobrará com cem; e a que enviou cem sobrará com dez, na casa de Israel.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel: Seek ye Me, and live;
Porque assim diz o SENHOR à casa de Israel: Buscai-me, e vivereis;
5 But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
Porém não busqueis a Betel nem venhais a Gilgal, nem passeis a Berseba; porque Gilgal será levada em cativeiro, e Betel será reduzida a nada.
6 Seek the LORD, and live — lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel —
Buscai ao SENHOR, e vivereis; para que não aconteça que surja como fogo à casa de José, e a consuma, sem haver em Betel quem o apague.
7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast righteousness to the ground;
Vós perverteis o juízo em absinto, e abandonam a justiça no chão.
8 Him that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and bringeth on the shadow of death in the morning, and darkeneth the day into night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is His name;
Ele é o que fez as Plêiades e o Órion, e torna as trevas em manhã, e faz escurecer o dia em noite; ele chama as águas do mar, e as derrama sobre a face da terra; EU-SOU é o seu nome.
9 That causeth destruction to flash upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.
Ele causa súbita destruição sobre o forte, e torna em ruínas a fortaleza.
10 They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
Na porta da cidade eles odeiam ao que repreende, e abominam ao que fala com justiça.
11 Therefore, because ye trample upon the poor, and take from him exactions of wheat; ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them, ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine thereof.
Portanto, visto que pisoteais ao pobre e tomais dele um carga de trigo; assim edificastes casas de pedras lavradas, mas não habitareis nelas; plantastes belas vinhas, mas não bebereis o vinho delas.
12 For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins; ye that afflict the just, that take a ransom, and that turn aside the needy in the gate.
Pois sei que vossas transgressões são muitas e vossos pecados são grandes; afligis o justo, e recebeis suborno, e negam o direito dos necessitados na porta da cidade.
13 Therefore the prudent doth keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.
Por isso o prudente em tal tempo fica calado, porque é um tempo mau.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.
Buscai o bem, e não o mal, para que vivais; e assim o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos estará convosco, como dizeis.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Odiai o mal, amai o bem, e praticai justiça na porta da cidade; talvez o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos tenha piedade do restante [do povo] de José.
16 Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Lamentation shall be in all the broad places, and they shall say in all the streets: 'Alas! alas!' and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and proclaim lamentation to such as are skilful of wailing.
Portanto assim diz o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos, o Senhor: Em todas as praças haverá pranto, e em todas as ruas dirão: Ai! ai! E chamarão o lavrador ao choro, e os que sabem prantear ao lamento.
17 And in all vineyards shall be lamentation; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
E em todas as vinhas haverá pranto, porque passarei por meio de ti, diz o SENHOR.
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! Wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? It is darkness, and not light.
Ai dos que desejam o dia do SENHOR! Para que quereis este dia do SENHOR? Será trevas, e não luz.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; and went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
Será como se alguém fugisse do leão, e o urso se encontrasse com ele; ou como se entrasse em alguma casa e apoiasse sua mão à parede, e fosse picado por uma cobra.
20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Por acaso não será o dia do SENHOR trevas e não luz, uma escuridão sem claridade alguma?
21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
Eu odeio, desprezo vossas solenidades, e não aguento vossas reuniões religiosas.
22 Yea, though ye offer me burnt-offerings and your meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.
Ainda que me ofereçais holocaustos e vossas ofertas de alimentos, não os aceitarei; nem darei atenção a vossas ofertas de gratidão de vossos animais cevados.
23 Take thou away from Me the noise of thy songs; and let Me not hear the melody of thy psalteries.
Afasta de mim os teus muitos cânticos; também não ouvirei as melodias de teus instrumentos.
24 But let justice well up as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Em vez disso, corra o juízo como as águas, e a justiça como um ribeiro impetuoso.
25 Did ye bring unto Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
Por acaso vós oferecestes a mim sacrifícios e ofertas de alimento no deserto durante os quarenta anos, ó casa de Israel?
26 So shall ye take up Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Em vez disso, levastes as imagens de vosso rei Sicute, e de Quium, a estrela de vossos deus, que fizestes para vós mesmos.
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith He, whose name is the LORD God of hosts.
Portanto eu vos levarei cativos, para além de Damasco, diz o SENHOR, cujo nome é Deus dos exércitos.
