Amos 3
1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:
Ouvi esta palavra que o SENHOR fala contra vós, ó filhos de Israel, contra toda família que eu fiz subir da terra do Egito:
2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities.
Somente reconheci a vós mesmos de todas as famílias da terra; por isso punirei contra vós todas as vossas injustiças.
3 Will two walk together, except they have agreed?
Por acaso irão dois juntos, se não estiverem de acordo?
4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? Will a young lion give forth his voice out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
Rugirá o leão no bosque se não houver presa? Dará o leãozinho seu som desde sua cova, se nada tiver capturado?
5 Will a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where there is no lure for it? Will a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all?
Cairá o ave no laço na terra, se não houver armadilha para ela? Se levantará o laço da terra, se nada houver prendido?
6 Shall the horn be blown in a city, and the people not tremble? Shall evil befall a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Tocará a trombeta na cidade, e o povo não se estremecerá? Haverá alguma calamidade na cidade que o SENHOR não tenha feito?
7 For the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His counsel unto His servants the prophets.
Certamente o Senhor DEUS não fará coisa alguma sem ter revelado seu segredo a seus servos os profetas.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
Quando o leão ruge, quem não temerá? Quando o Senhor DEUS fala, quem não profetizará?
9 Proclaim it upon the palaces at Ashdod, and upon the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say: 'Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions therein, and the oppressions in the midst thereof.'
Anunciai nos palácios de Asdode e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizei: Reuni-vos sobre os montes de Samaria, e vede os grandes tumultos no meio dela, e as opressões no meio dela.
10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
E não sabem fazer o que é correto, diz o SENHOR; em seus palácios acumulam bens [obtidos] por violência e destruição.
11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: An adversary, even round about the land! And he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
Portanto o Senhor DEUS diz assim: Um inimigo! Ele está ao redor da terra, e derrubará de ti a tua fortaleza, e teus palácios serão saqueados.
12 Thus saith the LORD: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel that dwell in Samaria escape with the corner of a couch, and the leg of a bed.
Assim diz o SENHOR: Tal como o pastor livra da boca do leão duas pernas ou a ponta de uma orelha, assim os filhos de Israel que moram em Samaria serão livrados, com um canto da cama, e um pedaço do leito.
13 Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts.
Ouvi e testemunhai contra a casa de Jacó, diz o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos;
14 For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also punish the altars of Beth-el, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
Que no dia em que eu punir as transgressões de Israel sobre ele, também farei punição sobre os altares de Betel; e as pontas do altar serão cortadas, e cairão por terra.
15 And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
E ferirei a casa do inverno com a casa do verão, e as casas de marfim se acabarão; e muitas casas terão fim, diz o SENHOR.
