2 Samuel 4

1 And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands became feeble, and all the Israelites were affrighted.

Cuando el hijo de Saúl supo que Abner había sido muerto en Hebrón, se le cayeron las manos y todo Israel quedó consternado.

2 And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands; the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin; for Beeroth also is reckoned to Benjamin;

Tenía el hijo de Saúl dos hombres, capitanes de tropas guerrilleras, de los cuales uno se llamaba Baaná, y el otro Recab, hijos de Rimón beerotita, de los hijos de Benjamín pues Beerot se cuenta también entre (las ciudades) de Benjamín,

3 and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and have been sojourners there until this day.

aunque los beerotitas habían huido a Gitaim, quedándose allí como forasteros hasta el día de hoy.

4 Now Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled; and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo tullido de los pies. Tenía este cinco años cuando vino de Jesreel la noticia (de la muerte) de Saúl y de Jonatán. Lo tomó su nodriza y echó a huir, pero en la precipitación de la fuga cayó él y quedó cojo. Se llamaba Mefibóset.

5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth, as he took his rest at noon.

Fueron, pues, los hijos de Rimón beerotita, Recab y Baaná, y a la hora del calor del día entraron en casa de Isbóset, el cual estaba durmiendo la siesta del mediodía.

6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him in the groin; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

Penetraron en el interior de la casa como para buscar trigo, y le hirieron en la ingle. Después huyeron Recab y su hermano Baaná.

7 Now when they came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bed-chamber, they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and went by the way of the Arabah all night.

Habían entrado en la casa, donde le encontraron tendido sobre su cama, en su cámara de dormir. Allí lo hirieron de muerte, y después de cortarle la cabeza marcharon toda la noche por el camino del Arabá. CASTIGO DE LOS ASESINOS

8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king: 'Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, who sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.'

Trajeron la cabeza de Isbóset a David, a Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: “Aquí tienes la cabeza de Isbóset, hijo de Saúl, tu enemigo, que atentaba contra tu vida. Yahvé ha vengado hoy a mi señor, el rey, de Saúl y de su linaje.”

9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them: 'As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

Respondió David a Recab y a Baaná su hermano, hijos de Rimón beerotita, y les dijo: “¡Vive Yahvé, que ha librado mi vida de todo peligro!

10 when one told me, saying: Behold, Saul is dead, and he was in his own eyes as though he brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, instead of giving a reward for his tidings.

Al que me avisó, diciendo: “He aquí, ha muerto Saúl”, creyéndose portador de una buena nueva, le hice prender y matar en Siceleg, en vez de darle albricias por la noticia.

11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?'

¡Cuánto más ahora, que unos hombres malvados han muerto a un hombre justo en su casa, sobre su cama!, ¿no he de demandar su sangre de vuestras manos y borraros de la tierra?

12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.

Mandó, pues, David a sus criados, los cuales los mataron; y cortándoles las manos y los pies, los colgaron junto al estanque de Hebrón. Después tomaron la cabeza de Isbóset y la sepultaron en el sepulcro de Abner en Hebrón.
