2 Kings 18
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
Agora no terceiro ano de Oséias, filho de Elá, rei de Israel, Hezequias, filho de Acaz, rei de Judá, começou a reinar.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
Ele tinha vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Abi, filha de Zacarias.
3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
Ele fez o que era certo aos olhos de Iavé, de acordo com tudo o que David, seu pai, havia feito.
4 He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah; and he broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did offer to it; and it was called Nehushtan.
Ele removeu os lugares altos, quebrou os pilares e cortou o Asherah. Ele também quebrou a serpente de bronze que Moisés havia feito, porque naqueles dias os filhos de Israel queimavam incenso nela; e ele a chamou de Neushtan.
5 He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.
Ele confiou em Javé, o Deus de Israel, para que depois dele não houvesse ninguém como ele entre todos os reis de Judá, nem entre os que foram antes dele.
6 For he cleaved to the LORD, he departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
Pois ele se uniu a Iavé. Ele não deixou de segui-lo, mas guardou seus mandamentos, que Javé ordenou a Moisés.
7 And the LORD was with him: whithersoever he went forth he prospered; and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
Yahweh estava com ele. Onde quer que ele fosse, ele prosperava. Ele se rebelou contra o rei da Assíria, e não o serviu.
8 He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
Ele atingiu os filisteus até Gaza e suas fronteiras, desde a torre dos guardas até a cidade fortificada.
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
No quarto ano do rei Ezequias, que foi o sétimo ano de Oséias, filho de Elá, rei de Israel, Shalmaneser, rei da Assíria, enfrentou Samaria e a sitiou.
10 And at the end of three years they took it; even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
Ao final de três anos, eles a tomaram. No sexto ano de Ezequias, que foi o nono ano de Oséias, rei de Israel, Samaria foi tomada.
11 And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes;
O rei da Assíria levou Israel para a Assíria, e os colocou em Hala, e no Habor, o rio de Gozan, e nas cidades dos Medos,
12 because they hearkened not to the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
porque não obedeceram à voz de Javé, mas transgrediram seu pacto, mesmo tudo o que Moisés, servo de Javé, ordenou, e não quiseram ouvi-lo nem fazê-lo.
13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
Now no décimo quarto ano do rei Ezequias, Sennacheribe, rei da Assíria, enfrentou todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá e as tomou.
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying: 'I have offended; return from me; that which thou puttest on me will I bear.' And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
Ezequias, rei de Judá, enviou ao rei da Assíria em Laquis, dizendo: “Eu vos ofendi. Retirem-se de mim”. O que vocês me puseram, eu o suportarei”. O rei da Assíria nomeou a Ezequias rei de Judá trezentos talentos de prata e trinta talentos de ouro.
15 And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
Ezequias deu-lhe toda a prata que foi encontrada na casa de Iavé e nos tesouros da casa do rei.
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the door-posts which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
Naquele tempo, Ezequias cortou o ouro das portas do templo de Iavé, e dos pilares que Ezequias, rei de Judá, havia sobreposto, e o deu ao rei da Assíria.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fullers' field.
O rei da Assíria enviou Tartan, Rabsaris e Rabshakeh de Laquis ao rei Ezequias com um grande exército a Jerusalém. Eles subiram e vieram a Jerusalém. Quando subiram, vieram e ficaram junto ao conduto da piscina superior, que fica na rodovia do campo do fuller.
18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
Quando chamaram o rei, Eliaquim, o filho de Hilquias, que estava sobre a casa, e Sebnah, o escriba, e Joah, o filho de Asafe, o gravador, saíram para eles.
19 And Rab-shakeh said unto them: 'Say ye now to Hezekiah: Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
Rabshakeh disse-lhes: “Digam agora a Ezequias: 'O grande rei, o rei da Assíria, diz: “Que confiança é essa em que vocês confiam?
20 Sayest thou that a mere word of the lips is counsel and strength for the war? Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
Você diz (mas são apenas palavras vãs), 'Há conselho e força para a guerra'. Em quem você confia, que você se rebelou contra mim?
21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it; so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
Agora, eis que você confia no pessoal desta palheta machucada, mesmo no Egito. Se um homem se inclina sobre ela, ela vai para a mão dele e a fura. Assim é o faraó rei do Egito para todos os que confiam nele.
22 But if ye say unto me: We trust in the LORD our God; is not that He, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem: Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
Mas se você me disser: 'Nós confiamos em Javé nosso Deus', não é aquele cujos altos lugares e cujos altares Ezequias tirou, e disse a Judá e a Jerusalém: 'Você adorará diante deste altar em Jerusalém?
23 Now therefore, I pray thee, make a wager with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
Portanto, agora, por favor, dê promessas ao meu senhor, o rei da Assíria, e eu lhe darei dois mil cavalos se você puder de sua parte colocar cavaleiros sobre eles.
24 How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain, even of the least of my masters servants? and yet thou puttest thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen!
Como, então, você pode afastar o rosto de um capitão do menor dos servos de meu senhor e depositar sua confiança no Egito para as carruagens e para os cavaleiros?
25 Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me: Go up against this land, destroy it.'
Será que agora eu subi sem Iavé contra este lugar para destruí-lo? Javé me disse: 'Suba contra esta terra, e a destrua'””.
26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh: 'Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Aramean language; for we understand it; and speak not with us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.'
Então Eliakim, o filho de Hilkiah, Shebnah, e Joah, disseram a Rabshakeh: “Por favor, fale com seus servos na língua síria, pois nós a entendemos. Não fale conosco na língua dos judeus, na audição das pessoas que estão no muro”.
27 But Rab-shakeh said unto them: 'Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?'
Mas Rabshakeh lhes disse: “Meu mestre me enviou a seu mestre e a você, para dizer estas palavras? Ele não me enviou aos homens que se sentam na parede, para comer seu próprio esterco e beber sua própria urina com você?”
28 Then Rab-shakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying: 'Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
Então Rabshakeh levantou-se e gritou com voz alta na língua dos judeus, e falou, dizendo: “Ouçam a palavra do grande rei, o rei da Assíria”.
29 Thus saith the king: Let not Hezekiah beguile you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand;
O rei diz: 'Não deixe que Ezequias o engane, pois ele não será capaz de livrá-lo de suas mãos'.
30 neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying: The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Não deixe que Ezequias lhe faça confiar em Iavé, dizendo: “Iavé certamente nos libertará, e esta cidade não será entregue na mão do rei da Assíria”.
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah; for thus saith the king of Assyria: Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
“Não dê ouvidos a Ezequias”. Pois o rei da Assíria diz: “Fazei as pazes comigo, e vinde a mim; e cada um de vós coma de sua própria videira, e cada um de sua figueira, e cada um beba água de sua própria cisterna;
32 until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive-trees and of honey, that ye may live, and not die; and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying: The LORD will deliver us.
até que eu venha e vos leve para uma terra como sua própria terra, uma terra de grãos e vinho novo, uma terra de pão e vinhas, uma terra de oliveiras e de mel, para que possais viver e não morrer. Não dê ouvidos a Ezequias quando ele o convencer, dizendo: “Yahweh nos libertará”.
33 Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Algum dos deuses das nações já libertou sua terra da mão do rei da Assíria?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
Onde estão os deuses de Hamath e de Arpad? Onde estão os deuses de Sefarvaim, de Hena, e de Ivvah? Eles já entregaram Samaria das minhas mãos?
35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'
Quem são eles entre todos os deuses dos países, que libertaram seu país da minha mão, que Javé deveria libertar Jerusalém da minha mão?'”.
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, saying: 'Answer him not.'
Mas o povo ficou calado e não lhe respondeu uma palavra; pois o mandamento do rei era: “Não lhe responda”.
37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
Então Eliakim, filho de Hilkiah, que estava sobre a casa, veio com Shebna, o escriba, e Joah, o filho de Asafe, o gravador, a Hezekiah com suas roupas rasgadas, e lhe contou as palavras de Rabshakeh.
