2 Chronicles 4
1 Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.
Il fit aussi un autel d’airain de vingt coudées de longueur, de vingt coudées de largeur, et de dix coudées de hauteur:
2 Also he made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and the height thereof was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
Et la mer d’airain, jetée en fonte, de dix coudées d’un bord jusqu’à l’autre, était toute ronde: elle avait cinq coudées de hauteur, et un cordon de trente coudées entourait sa circonférence.
3 And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about, for ten cubits, compassing the sea round about. The oxen were in two rows, cast when it was cast.
De plus, une représentation de bœufs était au-dessous de la mer, et certaines ciselures au dehors entouraient comme en deux rangs la partie la plus large de la mer dans un espace de dix coudées. Or ces bœufs avaient été jetés en fonte.
4 It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and the sea was set upon them above, and all their hinder parts were inward.
Et la mer elle-même était posée sur douze bœufs, dont trois regardaient l’aquilon, et trois autres l’occident; or trois autres, le midi, et les autres, l’orient, tous ayant la mer posée sur eux: or la partie de derrière des bœufs était en dedans sous la mer.
5 And it was a handbreadth thick; and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily: it received and held three thousand baths.
L’épaisseur de la mer avait la mesure d’un palme, et son bord était fait comme le bord d’une coupe, ou d’un lis épanoui: et elle contenait trois mille métrètes.
6 He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them; such things as belonged to the burnt-offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.
Mais il fit aussi dix conques, et il en mit cinq à droite et cinq à gauche, pour qu’on y lavât tout ce qui devait être offert en holocauste; mais c’est dans la mer que les prêtres se lavaient.
7 And he made the ten candlesticks of gold according to the ordinance concerning them; and he set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.
Il fit en outre dix chandeliers d’or, selon la forme d’après laquelle il avait ordonné de les faire; et il les mit dans le temple, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche;
8 He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made a hundred basins of gold.
Et de plus dix tables; et il les mit dans le temple, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche, ainsi que cent fioles d’or.
9 Furthermore he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors of them with brass.
Il fit encore le parvis des prêtres, et la grande basilique, et à la basilique des portes qu’il couvrit d’airain.
10 And he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward, toward the south.
Quant à la mer, il la mit du côté droit contre l’orient, vers le midi.
11 And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basins. So Huram made an end of doing the work that he wrought for king Solomon in the house of God:
Hiram fit aussi les chaudières, les grandes fourchettes et les fioles, et il acheva tout l’ouvrage du roi dans la maison de Dieu;
12 the two pillars, and the bowls, and the two capitals which were on the top of the pillars; and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the pillars;
C’est-à-dire les deux colonnes, les architraves, les chapiteaux, et les espèces de réseaux qui couvraient les chapiteaux par-dessus les architraves.
13 and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks: two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars.
Il fit encore les quatre cents grenades et les deux réseaux, de manière que deux rangs de grenades étaient attachés ensemble à chacun des réseaux qui couvraient les architraves et les chapiteaux des colonnes.
14 He made also the bases, and the lavers made he upon the bases;
Il fit aussi les bases d’airain, et les conques qu’il superposa aux bases;
15 one sea, and the twelve oxen under it.
La mer unique, et aussi les douze bœufs sous la mer,
16 The pots also, and the shovels, and the flesh-hooks, and all the vessels thereof, did Huram his master craftsman make for king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
Et les chaudières, et les grandes fourchettes, et les fioles. Hiram, son père, fit à Salomon tous les vases pour la maison du Seigneur, d’un airain très pur.
17 In the plain of the Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah.
C’est dans la contrée du Jourdain que le roi les jeta en fonte, dans la terre argileuse, entre Sochoth et Sarédatha.
18 Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance; for the weight of the brass could not be found out.
Or la multitude de ces vases était innombrable; en sorte qu’on ignorait le poids de l’airain.
19 And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon was the showbread;
Ainsi Salomon fit tous les vases de la maison de Dieu, ainsi que l’autel d’or, les tables, et sur elles les pains de proposition.
20 and the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn according to the ordinance before the Sanctuary, of pure gold;
Il fit encore d’un or très pur les chandeliers avec leurs lampes, pour luire devant l’oracle, selon le rite;
21 and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold, and that perfect gold;
Ainsi que certains fleurons, les lampes et les pincettes d’or: toutes ces choses furent faites d’un or très pur.
22 and the snuffers, and the basins, and the pans, and the fire-pans, of pure gold. And as for the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy place, and the doors of the house, that is, of the temple, were of gold.
Il fit aussi les cassolettes, les encensoirs, les fioles et les petits mortiers, d’un or très pur. Et il cisela les portes du temple intérieur, c’est-à-dire du Saint des saints; et les portes du temple à l’extérieur étaient d’or. Et ainsi fut achevé tout l’ouvrage que fit Salomon pour la maison du Seigneur.
