2 Chronicles 36
1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
૧પછી દેશના લોકોએ યોશિયાના પુત્ર યહોઆહાઝને તેના પિતાની જગ્યાએ યરુશાલેમમાં રાજા તરીકે પસંદ કર્યો.
2 Joahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
૨યોઆહાઝ જ્યારે ગાદીએ આવ્યો ત્યારે તેની ઉંમર ત્રેવીસ વર્ષની હતી અને તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં માત્ર ત્રણ મહિના સુધી રાજ કર્યુ.
3 And the king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
૩મિસરના રાજાએ તેને યરુશાલેમમાં પદભ્રષ્ટ કર્યો. અને દેશ ઉપર સો તાલંત ચાંદીનો 3,400 કિલોગ્રામ ચાંદી અને એક તાલંત સોનાનો 34 કિલોગ્રામ સોનું કર ઝીંક્યો. એ રીતે દેશને દંડ કર્યો.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
૪મિસરના રાજા નકોએ તેના ભાઈ એલ્યાકીમને યહૂદિયાનો તથા યરુશાલેમનો રાજા બનાવ્યો અને તેનું નામ બદલીને યહોયાકીમ રાખ્યું. પછી તે એલ્યાકીમના ભાઈ યોઆહાઝને મિસર લઈ ગયો.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
૫યહોયાકીમ રાજા બન્યો ત્યારે તે પચીસ વર્ષનો હતો અને તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં અગિયાર વર્ષ સુધી રાજય કર્યુ. તેણે ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખરાબ હતું તે કર્યું.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
૬પછી બાબિલનો રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર તેના ઉપર ચઢી આવ્યો અને તેને સાંકળથી બાંધીને બાબિલ લઈ ગયો.
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
૭વળી નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાનની કેટલીક સામગ્રી પણ બાબિલ લઈ ગયો અને તેને પોતાના મહેલમાં રાખી.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
૮યહોયાકીમ સંબંધીના બનાવો, તેણે કરેલાં ઘૃણાજનક કાર્યો અને જેને માટે તેને ગુનેગાર ઠરાવવાંમાં આવ્યો હતો તે વિષે બધું વિગતવાર ઇઝરાયલના અને યહૂદિયાના રાજાઓનાં પુસ્તકમાં લખેલું છે. તેના પછી તેનો પુત્ર યહોયાખીન રાજા થયો.
9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
૯યહોયાખીન જયારે રાજા બન્યો ત્યારે તે આઠ વર્ષનો હતો. તેણે માત્ર ત્રણ માસ અને દસ દિવસ સુધી યરુશાલેમમાં રાજય કર્યુ. તેણે ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખરાબ હતું તે કર્યું.
10 And at the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
૧૦વસંતઋતુમાં નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર રાજાએ યરુશાલેમમાં માણસો મોકલ્યા. ત્યાંના ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાનની કિંમતી વસ્તુઓ લૂંટી લીધી. તે સાથે યહોયાખીનને પણ પકડીને બાબિલમાં લઈ જવાયો. અને તેના ભાઈ સિદકિયાને યહૂદિયા અને યરુશાલેમના રાજા તરીકે નિયુક્ત કર્યો.
11 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem;
૧૧સિદકિયા રાજા બન્યો ત્યારે તે એકવીસ વર્ષનો હતો અને તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં અગિયાર વર્ષ સુધી રાજય કર્યુ.
12 and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God; he humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.
૧૨તેણે તેના ઈશ્વર પ્રભુની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખરાબ હતું તે કર્યું. ઈશ્વરનાં વચન બોલનાર પ્રબોધક યર્મિયાની આગળ તે દીન થયો નહિ.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD, the God of Israel.
૧૩વળી નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર રાજાએ તેને વફાદાર રહેવાને ઈશ્વરના સમ ખવડાવ્યા હતા છતાં તેણે તેની સામે બળવો કર્યો. તેણે તેની ગરદન અક્કડ કરી અને ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર વિરુદ્ધ તેનું હૃદય કઠણ કર્યું.
14 Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, transgressed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of the LORD which He had hallowed in Jerusalem.
૧૪તે ઉપરાંત યાજકોના સર્વ આગેવાનો અને લોકોએ પણ બીજા લોકોની જેમ ધિક્કારપાત્ર કાર્યો કરીને પાપ કર્યું. તેઓએ યરુશાલેમમાં આવેલા ઈશ્વરે પવિત્ર કરેલા સભાસ્થાનને ભ્રષ્ટ કર્યું.
15 And the LORD, the God of their fathers, sent to them by His messengers, sending betimes and often; because He had compassion on His people, and on His dwelling-place;
૧૫તેઓના પિતૃઓના ઈશ્વરે વારંવાર પોતાના પ્રબોધકો મોકલીને તેઓની મારફતે તેઓને ચેતવણી આપી, કારણ કે પોતાના લોકો પર અને પોતાના નિવાસ પર તેને દયા આવતી હતી.
16 but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.
૧૬પણ તેઓએ ઈશ્વરના સંદેશવાહકોની મશ્કરી કરી, તેના વચનોની ઉપેક્ષા કરી અને પ્રબોધકોને હસી કાઢ્યાં, તેથી ઈશ્વરને તેના લોકો પર એટલો બધો રોષ ચઢ્યો કે આખરે કોઈ જ ઉપાય રહ્યો નહિ.
17 Therefore He brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man or hoary-headed; He gave them all into his hand.
૧૭તેથી ઈશ્વરે ખાલદીઓના રાજાને તેમના ઉપર ચઢાઈ કરવા મોકલ્યો. તેણે પવિત્રસ્થાનમાં તેઓના જુવાન માણસોને મારી નાખ્યા. તેણે યુવાન, યુવતી, વૃદ્ધ કે પ્રૌઢ કોઈનાં પર દયા રાખી નહિ. ઈશ્વરે તેઓ સર્વને તેના હાથમાં સોંપી દીધાં.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
૧૮ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાનની નાનીમોટી બધી જ સામગ્રી તથા તેના ખજાના અને રાજા તેમ જ તેના અધિકારીઓનાં ખજાના, એ બધું તે બાબિલમાં લઈ ગયો.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
૧૯તેઓએ ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાન બાળી નાખ્યું. યરુશાલેમનો કોટ તોડી પાડીને જમીનદોસ્ત કરી નાખ્યો. તેના મહેલોને બાળીને ભસ્મ કર્યા. બધી જ કિંમતી વસ્તુઓનો નાશ કર્યો.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia;
૨૦જે લોકો તલવારની ધારથી બચી ગયા હતા, તે લોકોને તે બાબિલ લઈ ગયો. ઇરાનના રાજયના અમલ સુધી તેઓ તેના તથા તેના વંશજોના ગુલામ થઈને રહ્યા.
21 to fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had been paid her sabbaths; for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
૨૧આ રીતે યર્મિયાના મુખથી બોલાયેલું ઈશ્વરનું વચન પૂરું થાય માટે દેશે પોતાના સાબ્બાથો ભોગવ્યા ત્યાં સુધી એટલે કે સિત્તેર વર્ષ સુધી દેશ ઉજ્જડ રહ્યો, તેટલાં સમય સુધી દેશે વિશ્રામ પાળ્યો!
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying:
૨૨હવે યર્મિયા પ્રબોધક દ્વારા આપવામાં આવેલ યહોવાહનું વચન પૂર્ણ થાય માટે ઇરાનના રાજા કોરેશના પહેલા વર્ષમાં ઈશ્વરે કોરેશને પ્રેરણા કરી. કોરેશને થયેલી ઈશ્વરીય પ્રેરણા પ્રમાણે તેણે લિખિત જાહેરાત કરાવી કે,
23 'Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD, the God of heaven, given me; and He hath charged me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whosoever there is among you of all His people — the LORD his God be with him — let him go up.'
૨૩“ઇરાનનો રાજા કોરેશ એમ કહે છે કે, આકાશના ઈશ્વર પ્રભુએ મને પૃથ્વીના સર્વ રાજયો આપ્યાં છે. યહૂદિયામાં આવેલા યરુશાલેમમાં સભાસ્થાન બાંધવાની તેમણે મને આજ્ઞા આપી છે, તેમના લોકમાંનો જે કોઈ તમારામાં હોય, તે ત્યાં જાય. તેમના ઈશ્વર પ્રભુ તેમની સાથે હોજો.”
