2 Chronicles 21
1 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
Puis Josaphat s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux en la Cité de David; et Joram son fils régna en sa place.
2 And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariahu, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
Il eut des frères fils de Josaphat, [savoir] Hazaria, Jéhiël, Zacharie, Hazaria, Micaël, et Séphatia; tous ceux-là [furent] fils de Josaphat, Roi d'Israël.
3 And their father gave them great gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the first-born.
Or leur père leur avait fait de grands dons d'argent, d'or, et de choses exquises, avec des villes fortes en Juda; mais il avait donné le Royaume à Joram, parce qu'il était l'aîné.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
Et Joram étant élevé sur le Royaume de son père, se fortifia, et tua avec l'épée tous ses frères, et quelques-uns des principaux d'Israël.
5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Joram était âgé de trente-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Et il suivit le train des Rois d'Israël, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab; car la fille d'Achab était sa femme; de sorte qu'il fit ce qui est déplaisant à l'Eternel.
7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that He had made with David, and as He promised to give a lamp to him and to his children alway.
Toutefois l'Eternel ne voulut point détruire la maison de David, à cause de l'alliance qu'il avait traitée avec David, et selon ce qu'il avait dit, qu'il lui donnerait une Lampe, à lui et à ses fils à toujours.
8 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
De son temps ceux d'Edom se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, et établirent un Roi sur eux.
9 Then Jehoram passed over with his captains, and all his chariots with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots.
C'est pourquoi Joram marcha [vers Tsahir] avec ses capitaines et tous les chariots qu'il avait, et s'étant levé de nuit il battit les Iduméens qui étaient autour de lui, et tous les gouverneurs des chariots.
10 So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day; then did Libnah revolt at the same time from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.
Néanmoins les Iduméens se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, jusqu'à ce jour. En ce même temps Libna se révolta de l'obéissance de [Joram], parce qu'il avait abandonné l'Eternel le Dieu de ses pères.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and made the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, and drew Judah away.
Il fit aussi des hauts lieux dans les montagnes de Juda, et fit paillarder les habitants de Jérusalem, et il y poussa aussi Juda.
12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying: 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father: Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah;
Alors on lui apporta un écrit de la part d'Elie le Prophète, disant: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu de David ton père: Parce que tu n'as point suivi la voie de Josaphat ton père, ni la voie d'Asa Roi de Juda;
13 but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, like as the house of Ahab made Israel to go astray; and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, who were better than thyself;
Mais que tu as suivi le train des Rois d'Israël, et que tu as fait paillarder ceux de Juda, et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme la maison d'Achab a fait paillarder [Israël], et même que tu as tué tes frères, la famille de ton père, qui étaient meilleurs que toi;
14 behold, the LORD will smite with a great plague thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy substance;
Voici, l'Eternel s'en va frapper de grandes plaies ton peuple, tes enfants, tes femmes, et tous tes troupeaux.
15 and thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.'
Et tu auras de grosses maladies, une maladie d'entrailles, jusques là que tes entrailles sortiront par la force de la maladie, qui durera deux ans.
16 And the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians that are beside the Ethiopians;
L'Eternel souleva donc contre Joram l'esprit des Philistins, et des Arabes qui habitent près des Ethiopiens;
17 and they came up against Judah, and broke into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
Lesquels montèrent contre Juda, et se jetèrent sur tout le pays, et pillèrent toutes les richesses qui furent trouvées dans la maison du Roi, et même ils emmenèrent captifs ses enfants et ses femmes; de sorte qu'il ne lui demeura aucun fils, sinon Jéhoachaz, le plus petit de ses enfants.
18 And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
Et après toutes ces choses l'Eternel le frappa dans ses entrailles d'une maladie incurable.
19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, at the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
Et il arriva qu'un jour s'écoulant après l'autre, et comme le temps de deux ans vint à expirer, ses entrailles sortirent par la force de la maladie; ainsi il mourut avec de grandes douleurs; et le peuple ne fit point brûler sur lui de choses aromatiques, comme on avait fait sur ses pères.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years; and he departed joyless; and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
Il était âgé de trente-deux [ans] quand il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem; il s'en alla sans être regretté, et on l'ensevelit en la Cité de David, mais non pas aux sépulcres des Rois.
