2 Chronicles 17
1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
Asa'nın yerine oğlu Yehoşafat kral oldu. Yehoşafat İsrail'e karşı krallığını pekiştirdi.
2 And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
Yahuda'nın bütün surlu kentlerine askeri birlikler yerleştirdi; Yahuda'ya ve babası Asa'nın ele geçirmiş olduğu Efrayim kentlerine de asker yerleştirdi.
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto the Baalim;
RAB Yehoşafat'laydı. Çünkü Yehoşafat atası Davut'un başlangıçtaki yollarını izledi; Baallar'a yöneleceğine,
4 but sought to the God of his father, and walked in His commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
babasının Tanrısı'na yöneldi; İsrail halkının yaptıklarına değil, Tanrı'nın buyruklarına uydu.
5 Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
RAB onun yönetimi altındaki krallığı pekiştirdi. Bütün Yahudalılar ona armağanlar getirdi. Böylece Yehoşafat büyük zenginliğe ve onura kavuştu.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD; and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
Yüreği RAB'de cesaret buldu, puta tapılan yerleri ve Aşera putlarını Yahuda'dan kaldırdı.
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
Yehoşafat krallığının üçüncü yılında halka öğretmek amacıyla görevlilerinden Ben-Hayil'i, Ovadya'yı, Zekeriya'yı, Netanel'i, Mikaya'yı Yahuda kentlerine gönderdi.
8 and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
Onlarla birlikte şu Levililer'i de gönderdi: Şemaya, Netanya, Zevadya, Asahel, Şemiramot, Yehonatan, Adoniya, Toviya, Tov-Adoniya. Kâhinlerden Elişama ile Yehoram'ı gönderdi.
9 And they taught in Judah, having the book of the Law of the LORD with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.
RAB'bin Yasa Kitabı'nı yanlarına alıp Yahuda'da halka öğrettiler. Bütün Yahuda kentlerini dolaşarak halka ders verdiler.
10 And a terror from the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
Yahuda'yı çevreleyen ülkelerin krallıklarını RAB korkusu sardı. Bu yüzden Yehoşafat'a karşı savaşamadılar.
11 And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he-goats.
Bazı Filistliler Yehoşafat'a haraç olarak armağanlar ve gümüş verdiler. Araplar da ona davar getirdiler: Yedi bin yedi yüz koçla yedi bin yedi yüz teke.
12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles and cities of store.
Yehoşafat giderek güçlendi. Yahuda'da kaleler, ambarlı kentler yaptırdı.
13 And he had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valour, in Jerusalem.
Yahuda kentlerinde birçok işler yaptı. Yeruşalim'e deneyimli yiğit savaşçılar yerleştirdi.
14 And this was the numbering of them according to their fathers' houses: of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand;
Bunlar boylarına göre şöyle kaydedilmişlerdi: Yahuda'dan binbaşılar: Komutan Adna ve komutasında 300 000 yiğit asker;
15 and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand;
Yanında Komutan Yehohanan ve komutasında 280 000 asker;
16 and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour;
Onun yanında kendini RAB'bin hizmetine adayan Zikri oğlu Amatsya ve komutasında 200 000 yiğit asker.
17 and of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
Benyamin oymağından: Yiğit bir savaşçı olan Elyada ile komutasında yay ve kalkanla silahlanmış 200 000 asker;
18 and next to him Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for war.
Yanında Yehozavat ve komutasında savaşmak üzere donatılmış 180 000 asker.
19 These were they that waited on the king beside those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
Bunlar kralın surlu Yahuda kentlerine yerleştirdiği askerlerin yanısıra, ona hizmet ediyorlardı.
