1 Samuel 21
1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest; and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling, and said unto him: 'Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?'
௧தாவீது நோபிலிருக்கிற ஆசாரியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கினிடம் போனான்; அகிமெலேக்கு நடுக்கத்தோடே தாவீதுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: ஒருவரும் உம்மோடு வராமல், நீர் தனித்து வருகிறது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டான்.
2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest: 'The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me: Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee; and the young men have I appointed to such and such a place.
௨தாவீது ஆசாரியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: ராஜா எனக்கு ஒரு காரியத்தைக் கட்டளையிட்டு, நான் உன்னை அனுப்பின காரியமும் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும் இன்னதென்று ஒருவரும் அறியாதிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று என்னோடே சொன்னார்; குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்திற்கு வரவேண்டும் என்று வாலிபர்களுக்கு சொல்லியிருக்கிறேன்.
3 Now therefore what is under thy hand? five loaves of bread? give them in my hand, or whatsoever there is present.'
௩இப்போதும் உம்முடைய கையில் இருக்கிறது என்ன? ஐந்து அப்பங்களோ, எதாவது, இருக்கிறதை என்னுடைய கையிலே கொடும் என்றான்.
4 And the priest answered David, and said: 'There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.'
௪ஆசாரியன் தாவீதுக்குப் பதிலாக: பரிசுத்த அப்பம் இருக்கிறதே தவிர, சாதாரண அப்பம் என்னுடைய கையில் இல்லை; வாலிபர் பெண்களோடு மட்டும் சேராமலிருந்தால் கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.
5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him: 'Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days; when I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was but a common journey; how much more then to-day, when there shall be holy bread in their vessels?'
௫தாவீது ஆசாரியனுக்குப் பதிலாக: நான் புறப்படுகிறதற்கு முன்பு நேற்றும் முந்தையநாளும் பெண்கள் எங்களுக்கு விலகியிருந்தார்கள்; வாலிபர்களுடைய சரீரங்களும் சுத்தமாயிருக்கிறது; இன்றையதினம் வேறே அப்பம் பாத்திரத்தில் பிரதிஷ்டைசெய்யப்பட்டதினால், இது சாதாரணமாயிற்றே என்றான்.
6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. —
௬அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட சமூகத்தின் அப்பங்களைத்தவிர, வேறு அப்பம் அங்கே இல்லாததால் ஆசாரியன் அவனுக்குப் பரிசுத்த அப்பத்தை கொடுத்தான்; அவைகள் எடுக்கப்படுகிற நாளிலே அதற்குப் பதிலாகச் சூடான அப்பம் வைக்கப்படும்.
7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul. —
௭சவுலுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களில் ஏதோமியனாகிய தோவேக்கு என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒருவன் அன்றையதினம் அங்கே யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியில் தடைபட்டிருந்தான்; அவன் சவுலுடைய மேய்ப்பருக்குத் தலைவனாயிருந்தான்.
8 And David said unto Ahimelech: 'And is there peradventure here under thy hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.'
௮தாவீது அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: இங்கே உம்முடைய வசத்தில் ஒரு ஈட்டியோ, பட்டயமோ இல்லையா? ராஜாவின் காரியம் அவசரமானபடியால், என் பட்டயத்தையோ, என் ஆயுதங்களையோ, நான் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவரவில்லை என்றான்.
9 And the priest said: 'The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the vale of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod; if thou wilt take that, take it; for there is no other save that here.' And David said: 'There is none like that; give it me.'
௯அதற்கு ஆசாரியன்: நீர் ஏலே பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே கொன்ற பெலிஸ்தனாகிய கோலியாத்தின் பட்டயம், இதோ, ஏபோத்திற்குப் பின்னாக ஒரு புடவையிலே சுருட்டி வைத்திருக்கிறது; அதை நீர் எடுக்க மனதானால் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோம், அதுவே அல்லாமல் வேறொன்றும் இங்கே இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது: அதற்கு நிகரில்லை; அதை எனக்குத் தாரும் என்றான்.
10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
௧0அன்றையதினம் தாவீது எழுந்து சவுலுக்குத் தப்பியோடி, காத்தின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகீசிடத்தில் போனான்.
11 And the servants of Achish said unto him: 'Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying: Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?'
௧௧ஆகீசின் ஊழியக்காரர்கள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: தேசத்து ராஜாவாகிய தாவீது இவன் அல்லவோ? “சவுல் கொன்றது 1,000, தாவீது கொன்றது 10,000” என்று இவனைக் குறித்தல்லவோ ஆடல் பாடலோடே கொண்டாடினார்கள் என்றார்கள்.
12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
௧௨இந்த வார்த்தைகளைத் தாவீது தன் மனதிலே வைத்துக்கொண்டு, காத்தின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகீசுக்கு மிகவும் பயப்பட்டு,
13 And he changed his demeanour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
௧௩அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தன் செய்கையை வேறுபடுத்தி, அவர்களிடம் பைத்தியக்காரனைப் போலக் காண்பித்து, வாசற்கதவுகளிலே கீறிக்கொண்டிருந்து, தன் வாயிலிருந்து நுரையைத் தன் தாடியில் விழசெய்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
14 Then said Achish unto his servants: 'Lo, when ye see a man that is mad, wherefore do ye bring him to me?
௧௪அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ்: தன் ஊழியக்காரர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, இந்த மனிதன் பைத்தியக்காரன் என்று காண்கிறீர்களே; இவனை நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டு வந்தது என்ன?
15 Do I lack madmen, that ye have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?'
௧௫எனக்கு முன்பாகப் பைத்திய சேட்டை செய்ய, நீங்கள் இவனைக் கொண்டு வருவதற்கு, பைத்தியக்காரர்கள் எனக்குக் குறைவாயிருக்கிறார்களோ? இவன் என் வீட்டிற்கு வரலாமா என்றான்.
