1 Samuel 20
1 And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan: 'What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?'
Então fugiu David de Naioth, em Rama: e veiu, e disse perante Jonathan: Que fiz eu? qual é o meu crime? e qual é o meu peccado diante de teu pae, que procura tirar-me a vida?
2 And he said unto him: 'Far from it; thou shalt not die; behold, my father doeth nothing either great or small, but that he discloseth it unto me; and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.'
E elle lhe disse: Tal não haja: não morrerás; eis que meu pae não faz coisa nenhuma grande, nem pequena, sem primeiro me dar parte; porque pois meu pae me encobriria este negocio? não ha tal.
3 And David swore moreover, and said: 'Thy father knoweth well that I have found favour in thine eyes; and he saith: Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved; but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.'
Então David tornou a jurar, e disse: Mui bem sabe teu pae que achei graça em teus olhos; pelo que disse: Não saiba isto Jonathan, para que se não magõe, e, na verdade, vive o Senhor, e vive a tua alma, que apenas ha um passo entre mim e a morte.
4 Then said Jonathan unto David: 'What doth thy soul desire, that I should do it for thee?'
E disse Jonathan a David: O que disser a tua alma, eu te farei.
5 And David said unto Jonathan: 'Behold, to-morrow is the new moon, when I should sit with the king to eat; so let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
Disse David a Jonathan: Eis que ámanhã é a lua nova, em que costumo assentar-me com o rei para comer: deixa-me tu ir, porém, e esconder-me-hei no campo, até á terceira tarde
6 If thy father miss me at all, then say: David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Beth-lehem his city; for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
Se teu pae notar a minha ausencia, dirás: David me pediu muito que o deixasse ir correndo a Beth-lehem, sua cidade; porquanto se faz lá o sacrificio annual para toda a linhagem.
7 If he say thus: It is well; thy servant shall have peace; but if he be wroth, then know that evil is determined by him.
Se disser assim, Está bem; então teu servo tem paz: porém se muito se indignar, sabe que já está inteiramente determinado no mal.
8 Therefore deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee; but if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?'
Usa pois de misericordia com o teu servo, porque fizeste a teu servo entrar comtigo em alliança do Senhor: se porém ha em mim crime, mata-me tu mesmo: porque me levarias a teu pae?
9 And Jonathan said: 'Far be it from thee; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
Então disse Jonathan: Longe de ti tal coisa: porém se d'alguma maneira soubesse que já este mal está inteiramente determinado por meu pae, para que viesse sobre ti, não t'o descobriria eu?
10 Then said David to Jonathan: 'Who shall tell me if perchance thy father answer thee roughly?'
E disse David a Jonathan: Quem tal me fará saber, se por acaso teu pae te responder asperamente?
11 And Jonathan said unto David: 'Come and let us go out into the field.' And they went out both of them into the field.
Então disse Jonathan a David: Vem e saiamos ao campo. E sairam ambos ao campo.
12 And Jonathan said unto David: 'The LORD, the God of Israel — when I have sounded my father about this time to-morrow, or the third day, behold, if there be good toward David, shall I not then send unto thee, and disclose it unto thee?
E disse Jonathan a David: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, se, sondando eu a meu pae ámanhã a estas horas, ou depois d'ámanhã, e eis que houver coisa favoravel para David: e eu então não enviar a ti, e não t'o fizer saber;
13 The LORD do so to Jonathan, and more also, should it please my father to do thee evil, if I disclose it not unto thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace; and the LORD be with thee, as He hath been with my father.
O Senhor faça assim com Jonathan outro tanto; que se aprouver a meu pae fazer-te mal, tambem t'o farei saber, e te deixarei partir, e irás em paz: e o Senhor seja comtigo, assim como foi com meu pae.
14 And thou shalt not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not;
E, se eu então ainda viver, porventura não usarás comigo da beneficencia do Senhor, para que não morra?
15 but also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever; no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.'
Nem tão pouco cortarás da minha casa a tua beneficencia eternamente: nem ainda quando o Senhor desarraigar da terra a cada um dos inimigos de David.
16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David: 'The LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies.'
Assim fez Jonathan alliança com a casa de David, dizendo: O Senhor o requeira da mão dos inimigos de David.
17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
E Jonathan fez jurar a David de novo, porquanto o amava; porque o amava com todo o amor da sua alma.
18 And Jonathan said unto him: 'To-morrow is the new moon; and thou wilt be missed, thy seat will be empty.
E disse-lhe Jonathan: Ámanhã é a lua nova, e não te acharão no teu logar, pois o teu assento se achará vazio
19 And in the third day thou shalt hide thyself well, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself in the day of work, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
E, ausentando-te tu tres dias, desce apressadamente, e vae áquelle logar onde te escondeste no dia do negocio: e fica-te junto á pedra de Ezel.
20 And I will shoot three arrows to the side-ward, as though I shot at a mark.
E eu atirarei tres frechas para aquella banda, como se atirara ao alvo.
21 And, behold, I will send the lad: Go, find the arrows. If I say unto the lad: Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee; take them, and come; for there is peace to thee and no hurt, as the LORD liveth.
E eis que mandarei o moço dizendo: Anda, busca as frechas: se eu expressamente disser ao moço: Olha que as frechas estão para cá de ti; toma-o comtigo, e vem; porque ha paz para ti, e não ha nada, vive o Senhor.
22 But if I say thus unto the boy: Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way; for the LORD hath sent thee away.
Porém se disser ao moço assim: Olha que as frechas estão para lá de ti; vae-te embora; porque o Senhor te deixa ir.
23 And as touching the matter which I and thou have spoken of, behold, the LORD is between me and thee for ever.'
E quanto ao negocio de que eu e tu fallámos, eis que o Senhor está entre mim e ti eternamente.
24 So David hid himself in the field; and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to the meal to eat.
Escondeu-se pois David no campo: e, sendo a lua nova, assentou-se o rei para comer pão.
25 And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon the seat by the wall; and Jonathan stood up, and Abner sat by Saul's side; but David's place was empty.
E, assentando-se o rei no seu assento, como as outras vezes, no logar junto á parede, Jonathan se levantou, e assentou-se Abner ao lado de Saul: e o logar de David appareceu vasio.
26 Nevertheless Saul spoke not any thing that day; for he thought: 'Something hath befallen him, he is unclean; surely he is not clean.'
Porém n'aquelle dia não disse Saul nada, porque dizia: Aconteceu-lhe alguma coisa, pela qual não está limpo; certamente não está limpo
27 And it came to pass on the morrow after the new moon, which was the second day, that David's place was empty; and Saul said unto Jonathan his son: 'Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to the meal, neither yesterday, nor to-day?'
Succedeu tambem ao outro dia, o segundo da lua nova, que o logar de David appareceu vasio: disse pois Saul a Jonathan, seu filho: Porque não veiu o filho de Jessé nem hontem nem hoje a comer pão?
28 And Jonathan answered Saul: 'David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Beth-lehem;
E respondeu Jonathan a Saul: David me pediu encarecidamente que o deixasse ir a Beth-lehem,
29 and he said: Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me; and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he is not come unto the king's table.'
Dizendo: Peço-te que me deixes ir, porquanto a nossa linhagem tem um sacrificio na cidade, e meu irmão mesmo me mandou ir: se pois agora tenho achado graça em teus olhos, peço-te que me deixes partir, para que veja a meus irmãos: por isso não veiu á mesa do rei
30 Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him: 'Thou son of perverse rebellion, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own shame, and unto the shame of thy mother's nakedness?
Então se accendeu a ira de Saul contra Jonathan, e disse-lhe: Filho da perversa em rebeldia; não sei eu que tens elegido o filho de Jessé, para vergonha tua e para vergonha da nudez de tua mãe?
31 For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the earth, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he deserveth to die.'
Porque todos os dias que o filho de Jessé viver sobre a terra nem tu serás firme, nem o teu reino: pelo que envia, e traze-m'o n'esta hora; porque é digno de morte.
32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him: 'Wherefore should he be put to death? what hath he done?'
Então respondeu Jonathan a Saul, seu pae, e lhe disse: Porque ha de elle morrer? que tem feito?
33 And Saul cast his spear at him to smite him; whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to put David to death.
Então Saul atirou-lhe com a lança, para o ferir: assim entendeu Jonathan que já seu pae tinha determinado matar a David.
34 So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no food the second day of the month; for he was grieved for David, and because his father had put him to shame.
Pelo que Jonathan, todo encolerisado, se levantou da mesa: e no segundo dia da lua nova não comeu pão; porque se magoava por causa de David, porque seu pae o tinha maltratado.
35 And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
E aconteceu, pela manhã, que Jonathan saiu ao campo, ao tempo que tinha ajustado com David, e um moço pequeno com elle.
36 And he said unto his lad: 'Run, find now the arrows which I shoot.' And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
Então disse ao seu moço: Corre a buscar as frechas que eu atirar. Correu pois o moço, e elle atirou uma frecha, que fez passar além d'elle.
37 And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said: 'Is not the arrow beyond thee?'
E, chegando o moço ao logar da frecha que Jonathan tinha atirado, gritou Jonathan atraz do moço, e disse: Não está porventura a frecha mais para lá de ti?
38 And Jonathan cried after the lad: 'Make speed, hasten, stay not.' And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
E tornou Jonathan a gritar atraz do moço: Apressa-te, avia-te, não te demores. E o moço de Jonathan apanhou as frechas, e veiu a seu senhor.
39 But the lad knew not any thing; only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
E o moço não entendeu coisa alguma: só Jonathan e David sabiam d'este negocio.
40 And Jonathan gave his weapons unto his lad, and said unto him: 'Go, carry them to the city.'
Então Jonathan deu as suas armas ao moço que trazia, e disse-lhe: Anda, e leva-as á cidade.
41 And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the South, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times; and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
E, indo-se o moço, levantou-se David da banda do sul, e lançou-se sobre o seu rosto em terra, e inclinou-se tres vezes: e beijaram-se um ao outro, e choraram juntos até que David chorou muito mais.
42 And Jonathan said to David: 'Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying: The LORD shall be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed, for ever.' And he arose and departed; and Jonathan went into the city.
E disse Jonathan a David: Vae-te em paz: o que nós temos jurado ambos em nome do Senhor, dizendo: O Senhor seja entre mim e ti, e entre a minha semente e a tua semente, seja perpetuamente. Então se levantou David, e se foi; e Jonathan entrou na cidade.
