1 Kings 22
1 And they continued three years without war between Aram and Israel.
Trong ba năm Sy-ri và Y-sơ-ra-ên không có giặc.
2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
Năm thứ ba, Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa, đi đến cùng vua Y-sơ-ra-ên.
3 And the king of Israel said unto his servants: 'Know ye that Ramoth-gilead is ours, and we are still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Aram?'
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên nói với tôi tớ mình rằng: Các ngươi há chẳng biết rằng Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át thuộc về chúng ta sao? Chúng ta lại làm thinh chẳng rứt nó khỏi tay vua Sy-ri sao!
4 And he said unto Jehoshaphat: 'Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead?' And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel: 'I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.'
Đoạn, người nói với Giô-sa-phát rằng: Vua muốn đến cùng ta đặng đánh lấy Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át chăng? Giô-sa-phát đáp với vua Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Tôi như ông; dân sự tôi như dân sự ông; và ngựa tôi như ngựa của ông.
5 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel: 'Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today.'
Song Giô-sa-phát nói với vua Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Tôi xin ông phải cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va trước đã.
6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them: 'Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?' And they said: 'Go up; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.'
Vậy, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên nhóm các tiên tri lại, số bốn trăm người, mà hỏi rằng: Ta có nên đi đánh Ra-mốt tại Ga-la-át, hay là chẳng nên đi? Chúng đáp rằng: Hãy đi lên; Chúa sẽ phó nó vào tay vua.
7 But Jehoshaphat said: 'Is there not here besides a prophet of the LORD, that we might inquire of him?'
Nhưng Giô-sa-phát tiếp rằng: ỳ đây còn có đấng tiên tri nào khác của Đức Giê-hô-va để chúng ta cầu vấn người ấy chăng?
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat: 'There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.' And Jehoshaphat said: 'Let not the king say so.'
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên đáp với Giô-sa-phát rằng: Còn có một người, tên là Mi-chê, con trai của Giêm-la; nhờ người ấy ta có thể cầu vấn Đức Giê-hô-va; nhưng tôi ghét người, vì người chẳng nói tiên tri lành về tôi, bèn là dữ đó thôi. Giô-sa-phát nói rằng: Xin vua chớ nói như vậy.
9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said: 'Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah.'
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên bèn đòi một hoạn quan mà bảo rằng: Hãy lập tức mời Mi-chê, con trai Giêm-la, đến.
10 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in a threshing-floor, at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
Vả, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên và Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa, mỗi người đều mặc đồ triều phục, đang ngồi trên một cái ngai tại trong sân đạp lúa, nơi cửa thành Sa-ma-ri; và hết thảy tiên tri nói tiên tri trước mặt hai vua.
11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said: 'Thus saith the LORD: With these shalt thou gore the Arameans, until they be consumed.'
Sê-đê-kia, con trai Kê-na-na, làm lấy những sừng bằng sắt, và nói rằng: Đức giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Với các sừng này, ngươi sẽ báng dân Sy-ri cho đến khi diệt hết chúng nó.
12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying: 'Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.'
Và hết thảy tiên tri đều nói một cách, mà rằng: Hãy đi lên Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át; vua sẽ được thắng, vì Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ phó thành ấy vào tay vua.
13 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke unto him, saying: 'Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth, let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak thou good.'
Vả, sứ giả đã đi mời Mi-chê, nói cùng người rằng: Những tiên tri đều đồng lòng báo cáo sự lành cho vua; tôi xin ông cũng hãy lấy lời như lời của họ mà báo cáo điều lành.
14 And Micaiah said: 'As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.'
Nhưng Mi-chê đáp rằng: Ta chỉ Đức Giê-hô-va hằng sống mà thề, ta sẽ báo cáo điều gì Đức Giê-hô-va phán dặn ta.
15 And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him: 'Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?' And he answered him: 'Go up, and prosper; and the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.'
Khi người đã đến cùng vua, vua bèn hỏi rằng: Hỡi Mi-chê, chúng ta có nên đi hãm đánh Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át, hay là chẳng nên đi? Mi-chê đáp: Hãy đi, vua sẽ được thắng: Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ phó thành ấy vào tay vua.
16 And the king said unto him: 'How many times shall I adjure thee that thou speak unto me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?'
Nhưng vua nói với người rằng: Biết bao lần ta đã lấy lời thề buộc ngươi chỉ khá nói chân thật với ta nhân danh Đức Giê-hô-va.
17 And he said: 'I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said: These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.'
Bấy giờ Mi-chê đáp rằng: Tôi thấy cả Y-sơ-ra-ên bị tản lạc trên các núi, như bầy chiên không có người chăn; và Đức Giê-hô-va phán rằng: Những kẻ ấy không có chủ; ai nấy khá trở về nhà mình bình yên.
18 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat: 'Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?'
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên nói cùng Giô-sa-phát rằng: Tôi há chẳng có nói với vua rằng người chẳng nói tiên tri lành về việc tôi, bèn là nói tiên tri dữ sao?
19 And he said: 'Therefore hear thou the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right hand and on his left.
Mi-chê lại tiếp: Vậy, hãy nghe lời của Đức Giê-hô-va: Tôi thấy Đức Giê-hô-va ngự trên ngôi Ngài và cả cơ binh trên trời đứng chầu Ngài bên hữu và bên tả.
20 And the LORD said: Who shall entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead. And one said: On this manner; and another said: On that manner.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán hỏi: Ai sẽ đi dụ A-háp, để người đi lên Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át, và ngã chết tại đó? Người trả lời cách này, kẻ trả lời cách khác.
21 And there came forth the spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said: I will entice him.
Bấy giờ, có một thần ra đứng trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va mà thưa rằng: Tôi sẽ đi dụ người. Đức Giê-hô-va phán hỏi thần rằng: Dụ cách nào?
22 And the LORD said unto him: Wherewith? And he said: I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And He said: Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also; go forth, and do so.
Thần thưa lại rằng: Tôi sẽ đi và làm một thần nói dối trong miệng những tiên tri của người. Đức Giê-hô-va phán rằng: Phải, ngươi sẽ dụ người được. Hãy đi và làm như ngươi đã nói.
23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets; and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.'
Vậy bây giờ, kìa, Đức Giê-hô-va đã đặt một thần nói dối trong miệng các tiên tri vua, và Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán sự dữ cho vua.
24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah on the check, and said: 'Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?'
Bấy giờ, Sê-đê-kia, con trai của Kê-na-na, đến gần Mi-chê, vả vào má người, mà rằng: Thần của Đức Giê-hô-va có do đường nào lìa khỏi ta đặng đến nói với ngươi?
25 And Micaiah said: 'Behold, thou shalt see on that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.'
Mi-chê đáp: Trong ngày ngươi chạy từ phòng này đến phòng kia đặng ẩn lánh, thì sẽ biết điều đó.
26 And the king of Israel said: 'Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên truyền lịnh rằng: Hãy bắt Mi-chê dẫn đến cho A-môn, quan cai thành, và cho Giô-ách, con trai của vua,
27 and say: Thus saith the king: Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with scant bread and with scant water, until I come in peace.'
rồi hãy nói rằng: Vua bảo như vầy: Hãy bỏ tù người này, lấy bánh và nước khổ nạn mà nuôi nó cho đến khi ta trở về bình an.
28 And Micaiah said: 'If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me.' And he said: 'Hear, ye peoples, all of you.'
Mi-chê tiếp rằng: Nếu vua trở về bình an, thì Đức Giê-hô-va không cậy tôi phán. Người lại nói: Hỡi chúng dân! các ngươi khá nghe ta.
29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
Vậy, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên đi lên Ra-mốt trong Ga-la-át với Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa.
30 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat: 'I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put thou on thy robes.' And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên nói cùng Giô-sa-phát rằng: Tôi sẽ giả dạng ăn mặc, rồi ra trận; còn vua hãy mặc áo của vua. Như vậy, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên ăn mặc giả dạng mà ra trận.
31 Now the king of Aram had commanded the thirty and two captains of his chariots, saying: 'Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.'
Vả, vua Sỵ-ri đã truyền lịnh cho ba mươi hai quan coi xe mình rằng: Các ngươi chớ áp đánh ai bất k” lớn hay nhỏ, nhưng chỉ một mình vua Y-sơ-ra-ên mà thôi.
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said: 'Surely it is the king of Israel'; and they turned aside to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out.
Vậy, khi các quan coi xe thấy Giô-sa-phát thì nói rằng: Aáy quả thật là vua Y-sơ-ra-ên. Chúng bèn đến gần người đặng áp đánh; nhưng Giô-sa-phát kêu la lên.
33 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
Khi các quan coi xe thấy chẳng phải vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì thối lại, không đuổi theo nữa.
34 And a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the lower armour and the breastplate; wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot: 'Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded.'
Bấy giờ, có một người tình cờ giương cung bắn vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, trúng nhằm người nơi giáp đâu lại. Vua nói cùng kẻ đánh xe mình rằng: Hãy quay cương lại, dẫn ta ra ngoài hàng quân, vì ta bị thương nặng.
35 And the battle increased that day; and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Arameans, and died at even; and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
Nhưng trong ngày đó thế trận thêm dữ dội; có người nâng đỡ vua đứng trong xe mình đối địch dân Sy-ri. Đến chiều tối vua chết; huyết của vít thương người chảy xuống trong lòng xe.
36 And there went a cry throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying: 'Every man to his city, and every man to his country.'
Lối chiều, trong hàng quân có rao truyền rằng: Ai nấy hãy trở về thành mình, xứ mình.
37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
Vua băng hà là như vậy; người ta đem thây vua về Sa-ma-ri, và chôn tại đó.
38 And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; the harlots also washed themselves there; according unto the word of the LORD which He spoke.
Người ta rửa xe người tại trong ao Sa-ma-ri, là nơi những bợm buôn hương tắm, và có những chó liếm máu người, y như lời Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán.
39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Các chuyện khác của A-háp, những công việc người làm, cái đền bằng ngà người cất, và các thành người xây, đều chép trong sử ký về các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên.
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
Vậy A-háp an giấc cùng tổ phụ mình, và A-cha-xia, con trai người, kế vị người.
41 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
Năm thứ tư đời A-háp, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì Giô-sa-phát con trai A-sa, lên ngôi làm vua Giu-đa.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Giô-sa-phát lên ngôi, tuổi được ba mươi lăm; người cai trị hai mươi lăm năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Tên của mẹ người là A-xu-ba, con gái của Si-chi.
43 And he walked in all the way of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD; howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and offered in the high places.
Người đi theo đường của A-sa, cha người, chẳng xây bỏ đi, song làm điều thiện trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va. Nhưng người không trừ bỏ các nơi cao; dân sự còn tế lễ và đốt hương tại trên các nơi cao.
44 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
Giô-sa-phát và vua Y-sơ-ra-ên ở hòa hảo với nhau.
45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Các chuyện khác của Giô-sa-phát, dõng lực người, những giặc giã người, đều đã chép trong sử ký về các vua Giu-đa.
46 And the remnant of the sodomites that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.
Người trừ diệt những bợm vĩ-gian còn lại trong xứ từ đời A-sa, cha mình.
47 And there was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
Bấy giờ, dân Ê-đôm không có vua, có một quan trấn thủ cai trị.
48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold; but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.
Giô-sa-phát đóng một đoàn tàu Ta-rê-si đặng đi Ô-phia chở vàng, nhưng không đi đến đó được, bởi vì tàu vỡ ra tại Ê-xi-ôn-Ghê-be.
49 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat: 'Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships.' But Jehoshaphat would not.
A-cha-xia, con trai của A-háp, nói với Giô-sa-phát rằng: Hãy cho phép các đầy tớ ta đi tàu với các đầy tớ ông. Nhưng Giô-sa-phát không chịu.
50 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
Giô-sa-phát an giấc với tổ phụ mình, được chôn với họ trong thành Đa-vít, cha người, và Giô-ram, con trai người, kế vị người.
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.
Năm thứ bảy đời Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa, thì A-cha-xia, con trai A-háp, lên ngôi làm vua Y-sơ-ra-ên tại Sa-ma-ri, và cai trị hai năm.
52 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherein he made Israel to sin.
Người làm điều ác trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, đi theo con đường của cha và mẹ mình, cùng theo đường của Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai của Nê-bát, là người xui cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội.
53 And he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
Người hầu việc Ba-anh và thờ lạy nó, chọc giận Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, cứ theo mọi sự cha người cha người đã làm.
