1 Kings 21

1 And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria.

Pasados estos negocios, aconteció que Nabot de Jezrael tenía una viña en Jezrael, junto al palacio de Acab rey de Samaria.

2 And Ahab spoke unto Naboth, saying: 'Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house; and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.'

Y Acab habló a Nabot, diciendo: Dáme tu viña para un huerto de legumbres, porque está cercana, cerca de mi casa, y yo te daré por ella otra viña mejor que esta: o si mejor te pareciere, pagártela he a su precio de dinero.

3 And Naboth said to Ahab: 'The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.'

Y Nabot respondió a Acab: Guárdeme Jehová de que yo te dé a ti la heredad de mis padres.

4 And Ahab came into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said: 'I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers.' And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

Y vínose Acab a su casa triste y enojado por la palabra que Nabot de Jezrael le había respondido, diciendo: No te daré la heredad de mis padres. Y acostóse en su cama, y volvió su rostro, y no comió pan.

5 But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him: 'Why is thy spirit so sullen, that thou eatest no bread?'

Y vino a él su mujer Jezabel y díjole: ¿Por qué está así triste tu espíritu? ¿y no comes pan?

6 And he said unto her: 'Because I spoke unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him: Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it; and he answered: I will not give thee my vineyard.'

Y él respondió: Porque hablé con Nabot de Jezrael, y díjele, que me diese su viña por dinero: o que, si más quería, le daría otra viña por ella: y él respondió: Yo no te daré mi viña.

7 And Jezebel his wife said unto him: 'Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thy heart be merry; I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.'

Y su mujer Jezabel le dijo: ¿Eres tú ahora rey sobre Israel? Levántate, y come pan, y alégrate: yo te daré la viña de Nabot de Jezrael.

8 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, and that dwelt with Naboth.

Entonces ella escribió cartas en nombre de Acab, y sellólas con su anillo, y enviólas a los ancianos, y a los principales, que moraban en su ciudad con Nabot.

9 And she wrote in the letters, saying: 'Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people;

Y las cartas que escribió decían así: Pregonád ayuno: y ponéd a Nabot en la cabecera del pueblo:

10 and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying: Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he die.'

Y ponéd asimismo dos hombres, hijos de Belial, delante de él, que atestiguen contra él, y digan: Tú has blasfemado a Dios y al rey. Y entonces sacádle, y apedreádle, y muera.

11 And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

Y los de su ciudad, los ancianos y los principales, que moraban en su ciudad, lo hicieron como Jezabel les mandó, conforme a como estaba escrito en las cartas que ella les había enviado.

12 They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people.

Y pregonaron ayuno, y asentaron a Nabot en la cabecera del pueblo.

13 And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him; and the base fellows bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying: 'Naboth did curse God and the king.' Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

Y vinieron dos hombres, hijos de Belial, y sentáronse delante de él, y aquellos hombres, hijos de Belial, atestiguaron contra Nabot delante del pueblo, diciendo: Nabot ha blasfemado a Dios y al rey. Y sacáronle fuera de la ciudad, y apedreáronle con piedras, y murió.

14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying: 'Naboth is stoned, and is dead.'

Y enviaron luego a Jezabel, diciendo: Nabot es apedreado, y muerto.

15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab: 'Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.'

Y como Jezabel oyó, que Nabot era apedreado y muerto, dijo a Acab: Levántate, y posee la viña de Nabot de Jezrael, que no te la quiso dar por dinero: porque Nabot no vive, mas es muerto.

16 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

Y oyendo Acab que Nabot era muerto, levántose para descender a la viña de Nabot de Jezrael, para tomar la posesión de ella.

17 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying:

Entonces fue palabra de Jehová a Elías Tesbita, diciendo:

18 'Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who dwelleth in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to take possession of it.

Levántate, desciende a encontrarte con Acab rey de Israel, que está en Samaria: He aquí, el está en la viña de Nabot, a la cual ha descendido para tomar la posesión de ella.

19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying: Thus saith the LORD: Hast thou killed, and also taken possessions? and thou shalt speak unto him, saying: Thus saith the LORD: In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.'

Y hablarle has, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: ¿No mataste, y también has poseido? Y tornarle has a hablar, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: En el mismo lugar donde lamieron los perros la sangre de Nabot, los perros también lamerán tu sangre, la tuya misma.

20 And Ahab said to Elijah: 'Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?' And he answered: 'I have found thee; because thou hast given thyself over to do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD.

Y Acab dijo a Elías: ¿Enemigo mío, me has ya hallado? Y él respondió: Te hallé, porque te has vendido a mal hacer delante de Jehová.

21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will utterly sweep thee away, and will cut off from Ahab every man-child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel.

He aquí, yo traigo mal sobre ti, y barreré tu posteridad, y talaré de Acab todo meante a la pared, al guardado, y al desamparado en Israel.

22 And I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasa the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked Me, and hast made Israel to sin.

Y yo pondré tu casa como la casa de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa, hijo de Ahías, por la provocación con que me provocaste a ira, y con que has hecho pecar a Israel.

23 And of Jezebel also spoke the LORD, saying: The dogs shall eat Jezebel in the moat of Jezreel.

De Jezabel también ha hablado Jehová, diciendo: Los perros comerán a Jezabel en la barbacana de Jezrael.

24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.'

El que de Acab fuere muerto en la ciudad, perros lo comerán: y el que fuere muerto en el campo, comerle han las aves del cielo.

25 But there was none like unto Ahab, who did give himself over to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

A la verdad ninguno fue como Acab, que así se vendiese a hacer lo malo delante de los ojos de Jehová: porque Jezabel su mujer le incitaba.

26 And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

El fue en grande manera abominable, caminando en pos de los ídolos, conforme a todo lo que hicieron los Amorreos, a los cuales lanzó Jehová delante de los hijos de Israel.

27 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softy.

Y fue, cuando Acab oyó estas palabras, rompió sus vestidos, y puso saco sobre su carne, y ayunó, y durmió en saco, y anduvo humillado.

28 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying:

Entonces fue palabra de Jehová a Elías Tesbita, diciendo:

29 'Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before Me? because he humbleth himself before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.'

¿No has visto como Acab se ha humillado delante de mí? Pues por cuanto se ha humillado delante de mí, no traeré el mal en sus días, en los días de su hijo traeré el mal sobre su casa.
