1 Kings 10
1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon because of the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions.
Et la Reine de Séba, au bruit de la renommée de Salomon, du Nom de l'Éternel, vint pour l'éprouver par des problèmes énigmatiques.
2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices and gold very much, and precious stones; and when she was come to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was in her heart.
Et elle fit son entrée à Jérusalem avec très grand train, avec des chameaux portant des aromates et de l'or en très grande quantité et des pierres précieuses, et elle entra chez Salomon et lui exposa tout ce qu'elle avait dans la pensée.
3 And Solomon told her all her questions; there was not any thing hid from the king which he told her not.
Et Salomon lui résolut toutes ses questions; il n'y eut pour le Roi rien de trop difficile qu'il ne pût résoudre.
4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
Et comme la Reine de Séba contemplait toute la sagesse de Salomon, et le palais qu'il avait bâti,
5 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his burnt-offering which he offered in the house of the LORD, there was no more spirit in her.
et les mets de sa table, et les appartements de ses serviteurs, et les loges de ses valets, et leurs costumes, et ses celliers et ses holocaustes qu'il offrait dans la Maison de l'Éternel, elle était toute hors d'haleine, et elle dit au Roi:
6 And she said to the king: 'It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom.
Il étaient vrais les rapports que j'entendais faire dans mon pays de tes dits et faits et de ta sagesse,
7 Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it; and, behold, the half was not told me; thou hast wisdom and prosperity exceeding the fame which I heard.
et je n'ajoutais pas foi à ces rapports jusqu'à ce qu'étant venue j'ai vu de mes yeux, et voilà qu'on ne m'a pas dit la moitié; tu surpasses en sagesse et en prospérité ta renommée parvenue jusqu'à moi.
8 Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, that stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.
Heureux ton monde! heureux tes serviteurs que voilà en permanence debout devant toi, auditeurs de ta sagesse!
9 Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel; because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made He thee king, to do justice and righteousness.'
Que béni soit l'Éternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a fait la faveur de te placer sur le trône d'Israël! C'est parce que le Seigneur a pour Israël un éternel amour qu'il t'a établi Roi pour que tu fasses droit et justice.
10 And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones; there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
Et elle donna au Roi cent vingt talents d'or et des aromates en immense quantité et des pierres précieuses: il ne vint plus une quantité d'aromates égale au don que la Reine de Séba fît au Roi Salomon.
11 And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of sandal-wood and precious stones.
(La flotte d'Hiram qui rapportait l'or d'Ophir, ramenait aussi d'Ophir du bois de sandal en très grande quantité et des pierres précieuses.
12 And the king made of the sandal-wood pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for the singers; there came no such sandal-wood, nor was seen, unto this day.
Et avec le bois de sandal le Roi Salomon fit une balustrade au Temple de l'Éternel et au palais royal et des luths et des harpes pour les chantres; il n'était pas encore venu tant de bois de sandal et jusqu'aujourd'hui on n'en a pas vu au tant.)
13 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.
Et le Roi Salomon donna à la Reine de Séba tout ce qui fut à son gré et qu'elle demanda, outre les présents qu'il lui fit à la manière du Roi Salomon. Puis elle s'en retourna et regagna son pays, elle et sa suite.
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,
Et le poids de l'or qui formait le revenu annuel de Salomon, était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,
15 beside that which came of the merchants, and of the traffic of the traders, and of all the kings of the mingled people and of the governors of the country.
non compris ce qu'il retirait des marchands et du trafic des commerçants, et de tous les rois des étrangers et gouverneurs du pays.
16 And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.
Et le Roi Salomon fit deux cents boucliers d'or laminé, plaquant chaque bouclier de six cents sicles d'or,
17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold: three pounds of gold went to one shield; and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
et trois cents rondaches d'or laminé, plaquant chaque rondache de trois mines d'or; et le Roi les plaça dans la Maison de la Forêt du Liban.
18 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.
Et le Roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire et il le recouvrit d'or affiné.
19 There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were arms on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the arms.
Le trône avait six marches, et le haut du dossier en était arrondi, et au siège étaient les bras d'un côté et de l'autre, et deux lions debout à côté des bras,
20 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps; there was not the like made in any kingdom.
et douze lions debout se trouvaient là sur les six marches de part et d'autre: il n'en fut fait de pareil en aucun royaume;
21 And all king Solomon's drinking-vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.
et toutes les coupes du Roi Salomon étaient d'or et toute la vaisselle de la Maison de la Forêt du Liban était d'or fin: point d'argent; au temps de Salomon, on n'en faisait aucun cas.
22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram; once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
Car le Roi avait en mer une flotte de Tharsis de conserve avec la flotte d'Hiram; une fois, en trois ans arrivait la flotte de Tharsis, apportant de l'or et de l'argent, de l'ivoire et des singes et des paons.
23 So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.
Et le Roi Salomon devint plus grand que tous les rois de la terre en opulence et en sagesse.
24 And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
Et tout le monde recherchait la présence de Salomon pour ouïr sa sagesse, de laquelle Dieu avait doué son cœur.
25 And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
Et chacun apportait son présent, de la vaisselle d'argent et de la vaisselle d'or, et des vêtements et des armes et des aromates, des chevaux et des mules, chaque année le contingent de l'année.
26 And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
Et Salomon rassembla chars et cavalerie, et il avait mille et quatre cents chars et douze mille cavaliers, dont il établit le dépôt dans les villes des chars et à Jérusalem près du Roi.
27 And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore-trees that are in the Lowland, for abundance.
Et le Roi rendit l'argent à Jérusalem aussi commun que les pierres, et les cèdres, quant au nombre, que les sycomores qui viennent dans la plaine basse.
28 And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; also out of Keveh, the king's merchants buying them of the men of Keveh at a price.
Et les chevaux qu'il avait, Salomon les tirait de l'Egypte, et c'était à Thékôa que les marchands de Salomon allaient recevoir le convoi contre paiement.
29 And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Aram, did they bring them out by their means.
Et l'on amenait et tirait de l'Egypte un char pour six cents sicles d'argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante, et de la même manière on en exportait par leur entremise pour tous les rois des Héthiens et pour tous les rois de la Syrie.
