1 Chronicles 5
1 And the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel — for he was the first-born; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, yet not so that he was to be reckoned in the genealogy as first-born.
Et les fils de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël, (car il était le premier-né, mais, pour avoir profané le lit de son père, sa primogéniture fut dévolue aux fils de Joseph, fils d'Israël, sans cependant qu'ils fussent comptés dans la généalogie à titre de primogéniture;
2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came he that is the prince; but the birthright was Joseph's —
sans doute Juda fut puissant parmi ses frères et fournit un prince, mais la primogéniture appartenait à Joseph)
3 the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
les fils de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël, sont: Hanoch et Pallu, Hetsron et Charmi.
4 The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son;
Les fils de Joël: son fils Semaïa, dont le fils fut Gog qui eut pour fils Siméï,
5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son;
dont le fils fut Michée qui eut pour fils Reaïa,
6 Beerah his son, whom Tillegath-pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive; he was prince of the Reubenites.
dont le fils fut Baal qui eut pour fils Beéra que Thiglath-Pilnéser, roi d'Assyrie, emmena captif; il était Prince des Rubénites.
7 And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned: the chief Jeiel, and Zechariah,
Et ses frères selon leurs familles au registre de leurs généalogies furent: le chef Jehiel et Zacharie
8 and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-meon;
et Béla, fils de Azaz, fils de Sema, fils de Joël; celui-ci habitait à Aroër et jusqu'à Nebo et Baal-Meon,
9 and eastward he dwelt even unto the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates; because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
et au levant jusqu'à l'entrée du désert borné par l'Euphrate; car ils avaient de nombreux troupeaux dans la contrée de Galaad.
10 And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the land east of Gilead.
Et à l'époque de Saul ils firent la guerre aux Hagarites qui tombèrent entre leurs mains et dont ils habitèrent les tentes sur tout le côté oriental de Galaad.
11 And the sons of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salcah:
Et les fils de Gad habitaient vis-à-vis d'eux au pays de Basan jusqu'à Salcha:
12 Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan;
Joël, le chef, et Sapham, le second, puis Jaënaï et Saphat en Basan.
13 and their brethren of their fathers' houses: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
Et leurs frères selon leurs maisons patriarcales sont: Michaël et Mesullam et Séba et Joraï et Jaëchan et Zia et Eber, sept.
14 These were the sons of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jehishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
Ce sont les fils d'Abihaïl, fils de Huri, fils de Jaroach, fils de Galaad, fils de Michaël, fils de Jesisaï, fils de Jahdo, fils de Buz.
15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of their fathers' houses.
Ahi, fils d'Abdiel, fils de Guni, était leur patriarche.
16 And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in the towns thereof, and in all the open lands of the plain, upon their borders.
Et ils habitaient en Galaad et en Basan et dans les villes de leur dépendance et dans tous les chesaux de Saron jusqu'à leurs issues.
17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
Tous ils furent inscrits aux registres à l'époque de Jotham, roi de Juda, et à l'époque de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël.
18 The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, as many as were valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were forty and four thousand seven hundred and threescore, that were able to go forth to war.
Les fils de Ruben et les Gadites et la demi-Tribu de Manassé, ce qu'il y avait d'hommes braves, portant le bouclier et l'épée et bandant l'arc et formés à la guerre, au nombre de quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, se mirent en campagne
19 And they made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
et firent la guerre aux Hagarites et à Jetur et Naphis et Nodab.
20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and He was entreated of them, because they put their trust in Him.
Et secours leur fut dispensé contre eux, et les Hagarites furent livrés entre leurs mains avec tous leurs auxiliaires; car dans le combat ils élevèrent leur cri vers Dieu qui les exauça parce qu'ils se confiaient en Lui.
21 And they took away their cattle: of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand; and of souls of men a hundred thousand.
Et ils emmenèrent leur bétail et leurs chameaux au nombre de cinquante mille et deux cent cinquante mille moutons, et deux mille ânes, et en hommes cent mille âmes.
22 For there fell many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their stead until the captivity.
Car il tomba une multitude de morts, parce que le combat était engagé de par Dieu. Et ils habitèrent en leur place jusqu'à la déportation.
23 And the children of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan unto Baal-hermon and Senir and mount Hermon, where they increased.
Et les fils de la demi-Tribu de Manassé habitèrent au pays de Basan jusqu'à Baal-Hermon et Senir et le mont Hermon: ils étaient nombreux.
24 And these were the heads of their fathers' houses: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, heads of their fathers' houses.
Et voici leurs patriarches: Epher et Jiseï et Eliel et Azriel et Jérémie et Hodavia et Jachdiel, braves guerriers et hommes de renom, chefs de leurs familles patriarcales.
25 And they broke faith with the God of their fathers, and went astray after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
Mais ils firent infidélité au Dieu de leurs pères et allèrent se prostituer après les dieux des peuples du pays, que Dieu avait exterminés devant eux.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tillegath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.
Alors le Dieu d'Israël émut l'esprit de Phul, roi d'Assyrie, et l'esprit de Thiglath-Pilnéser, roi d'Assyrie, et Il déporta les Rubénites et les Gadites et la demi-Tribu de Manassé et les amena à Chala et Chabor et Chara et au fleuve du Gozan, où ils sont aujourd'hui.
