1 Chronicles 18
1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
Après cela, David battit les Philistins et les soumit, et il prit Gath et ses villes de la main des Philistins.
2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought presents.
Il vainquit Moab; les Moabites devinrent les serviteurs de David et lui apportèrent un tribut.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah by Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the river Euphrates.
David battit Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba, vers Hamath, au moment où il allait établir sa domination sur le fleuve Euphrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.
David lui enleva mille chars, sept mille cavaliers et vingt mille hommes de pied; il fit atteler tous les chevaux des chars, mais il en réserva assez pour cent chars.
5 And when the Arameans of Damascus came to succour Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Arameans two and twenty thousand men.
Lorsque les Syriens de Damas vinrent au secours d'Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba, David frappa vingt-deux mille hommes des Syriens.
6 Then David put garrisons in Aram Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, and brought presents. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went.
David mit alors des garnisons dans la Syrie de Damas, et les Syriens devinrent les serviteurs de David et lui apportèrent un tribut. Yahvé donna la victoire à David partout où il allait.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
David prit les boucliers d'or qui étaient sur les serviteurs d'Hadadézer et les apporta à Jérusalem.
8 And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
David prit à Tibhath et à Cun, villes d'Hadadézer, une grande quantité d'airain, avec lequel Salomon fit la mer d'airain, les colonnes et les objets d'airain.
9 And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah,
Lorsque Tou, roi de Hamath, apprit que David avait battu toute l'armée d'Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba,
10 he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him — because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; for Hadarezer had wars with Tou — and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
il envoya Hadoram, son fils, vers le roi David pour le saluer et le bénir, parce qu'il avait combattu Hadadézer et l'avait battu (car Hadadézer était en guerre avec Tou); il avait avec lui toutes sortes d'objets d'or, d'argent et d'airain.
11 These also did king David dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
Le roi David les dédia aussi à Yahvé, avec l'argent et l'or qu'il avait emportés de toutes les nations: d'Édom, de Moab, des fils d'Ammon, des Philistins et d'Amalek.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.
Abischaï, fils de Tseruja, battit dix-huit mille Edomites dans la vallée du sel.
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went.
Il mit des garnisons en Édom, et tous les Édomites furent asservis à David. Yahvé a donné la victoire à David partout où il est allé.
14 And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.
David régna sur tout Israël, et il fit régner la justice et la droiture sur tout son peuple.
15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.
Joab, fils de Tseruja, était à la tête de l'armée; Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, était archiviste;
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
Tsadok, fils d'Ahitub, et Abimélec, fils d'Abiathar, étaient sacrificateurs; Schavsha était scribe;
17 and Beniah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
Benaja, fils de Jehojada, était à la tête des Kéréthiens et des Péléthiens; et les fils de David étaient les principaux fonctionnaires au service du roi.
