1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
Nísinsin yìí, àwọn ará Filistini dojú ìjà kọ Israẹli, àwọn ará Israẹli sì sálọ kúrò níwájú wọn, a sì pa ọ̀pọ̀ wọn sí orí òkè Gilboa.
2 And the Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.
Àwọn ará Filistini sí lépa Saulu gidigidi àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀. Wọ́n sì pa àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀. Jonatani, Abinadabu àti Malikiṣua.
3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was in anguish by reason of the archers.
Ogun náà sí gbóná janjan fún Saulu, nígbà tí àwọn tafàtafà sì lé e bá, wọ́n sì ṣá a lọ́gbẹ́.
4 Then said Saul unto his armour-bearer: 'Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and make a mock of me.' But his armour-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it.
Saulu sì sọ fún ẹni tí ó gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Fa idà rẹ yọ, kí o sì fi gún mi, kí àwọn aláìkọlà wọ̀nyí má wá láti bú mi.” Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó ń gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ ń bẹ̀rù, kò sì le ṣe é, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Saulu mú idà tirẹ̀ ó sì ṣubú lé e.
5 And when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell upon his sword, and died.
Nígbà tí agbé-ìhámọ́ra rí pé Saulu ti kú, òhun pẹ̀lú ṣubú lórí idà tirẹ̀, ó sì kú.
6 So Saul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Saulu àti ọmọ rẹ̀ mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta kú, gbogbo ilé rẹ̀ sì kú ṣọ̀kan, lọ́jọ́ kan náà.
7 And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí ó wà ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ rí wí pé àwọn ọmọ-ogun ti sálọ àti pé Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ti kú wọ́n kọ àwọn ìlú wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì sálọ. Àwọn ará Filistini wá, wọ́n sì jókòó nínú wọn.
8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
Ní ọjọ́ kejì, nígbà tí àwọn ará Filistini wá láti kó òkú, wọ́n rí Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ tí wọ́n ṣubú sórí òkè Gilboa.
9 And they stripped him, and took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
Wọ́n bọ́ ní aṣọ, wọ́n sì gbé orí rẹ̀ àti ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀, wọ́n sì rán ìránṣẹ́ lọ káàkiri ilẹ̀ àwọn ará Filistini láti kéde ìròyìn náà láàrín àwọn òrìṣà wọn àti àwọn ènìyàn wọn.
10 And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
Wọ́n gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ sí inú ilé tí wọ́n kọ́ fún òrìṣà wọn, wọ́n sì fi orí rẹ̀ kọ́ sí inú ilé Dagoni.
11 And when all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn olùgbé Jabesi—Gileadi gbọ́ gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ará Filistini ṣe fún Saulu,
12 all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the terebinth in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
gbogbo àwọn akọni ọkùnrin wọn lọ láti mú àwọn ará Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì kó wọn wá sí Jabesi. Nígbà náà, wọ́n sin egungun wọn sábẹ́ igi óákù ní Jabesi, wọ́n sì gbààwẹ̀ fún ọjọ́ méje.
13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he kept not; and also for that he asked counsel of a ghost, to inquire thereby,
Saulu kú nítorí kò ṣe òtítọ́ sí Olúwa, kò pa ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa mọ́ pẹ̀lú, ó tọ abókùúsọ̀rọ̀ lọ fún ìtọ́sọ́nà.
14 and inquired not of the LORD; therefore He slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
Kò sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa pa á, Ó sì yí ìjọba náà padà sọ́dọ̀ Dafidi ọmọ Jese.
