Romans 12
1 I BESEECH you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Je vous invite donc, frères, par les compassions de Dieu, à offrir vos corps comme un sacrifice vivant, saint et agréable à Dieu; c'est là le culte que vous devez raisonnablement rendre.
2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renovation of your mind, that you may prove by experience what is the will of God, that is good, acceptable, and perfect. (aiōn g165)
Et ne vous modelez pas sur le siècle présent, mais soyez transfigurés par le renouvellement de votre intelligence, afin d'apprécier ce qu'est la volonté de Dieu, qui est bonne, agréable, et parfaite. (aiōn g165)
3 For, I say, by the grace which is given unto me, to every one that is among you, not to think of himself above what he ought to think; but to think soberly, as God has divided to every one the measure of faith.
Car, par la grâce qui m'a été donnée, j'invite chacun de vous à ne point nourrir des sentiments qui dépassent ceux qu'il faut avoir, mais à être animé de sentiments convenables, proportionnés à la mesure de foi que Dieu a départie à chacun.
4 For as we have in one body many members, but the members, though many, have not the same function,
En effet, de même que, dans un seul corps, nous avons plusieurs membres, mais que tous les membres n'ont pas la même fonction,
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one reciprocally members of each other.
de même nous sommes, quoique plusieurs, un seul corps en Christ, tandis que nous sommes, chacun pris à part, les membres les uns des autres.
6 Having then different gifts according to the grace which is given unto us, if it be prophecy, speak according to the analogy of faith;
Ayant ainsi des dons différents selon la grâce qui nous a été donnée, soit de prophétie, exerçons-le selon la proportion de la foi;
7 or if the deacon’s office, be active in the service; or he that teacheth, in teaching;
soit de ministère, exerçons-le dans le ministère; soit qu'il s'agisse de celui qui enseigne, qu'il se livre à l'enseignement,
8 or he that exhorteth, in exhortation; he that distributes, let him do it with simplicity; he that presideth, with diligence; he that is employed in acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
ou de celui qui exhorte, qu'il se livre à l'exhortation; que celui qui distribue le fasse avec simplicité; que celui qui préside le fasse avec zèle; que celui qui compatit le fasse avec aménité.
9 Let love be undissembled. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Que la charité soit sans hypocrisie. Ayez en haine le mal, attachez-vous fortement au bien.
10 In brotherly affection be tenderly attached to each other; in honour preferring one another:
Quant à l'amour fraternel, soyez pleins d'affection les uns pour les autres; quant aux égards, devancez-vous réciproquement; quant au zèle, ne soyez pas indolents. Soyez bouillants d'esprit, asservis au Seigneur,
11 not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord:
joyeux par l'espérance, fermes dans la tribulation,
12 rejoicing in hope; patient in affliction; persevering in prayer:
persévérants dans la prière.
13 communicating to the wants of the saints; prompt to hospitality.
Prenez part aux besoins des saints, exercez l'hospitalité.
14 Bless them who persecute you; bless, and curse not.
Bénissez les persécuteurs, bénissez et ne maudissez pas.
15 Rejoice with those that rejoice, and weep with those that weep.
Réjouissez-vous avec ceux qui se réjouissent; pleurez avec ceux qui pleurent.
16 Be of the same mind among each other. Affect not high things, but be condescending to the lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Ayez, les uns pour les autres, des sentiments semblables. Ne visez pas aux grandeurs, mais laissez-vous attirer par ce qui est humble. Ne vous complaisez pas dans vos propres pensées.
17 Render to no man evil for evil. Be provident of things laudable in the sight of all men.
Ne rendez à personne mal pour mal; ayez à cœur ce qui est bon en présence de tous les hommes.
18 If possible, as far as you can, be at peace with all men.
S'il est possible, pour autant que cela dépend de vous, soyez en paix avec tous les hommes.
19 Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto wrath: for it is written, “Vengeance belongeth to me; I will recompence, saith the Lord.”
Ne vous vengez point vous-mêmes, bien-aimés, mais laissez agir la colère; car il est écrit: « A Moi la vengeance; c'est Moi qui rétribuerai, dit le Seigneur.
20 If therefore thine enemy hunger, give him food; if he thirst, give him drink: for so doing, thou shalt heap up coals of fire on his head.
Mais si ton ennemi a faim, donne-lui à manger; s'il a soif donne-lui à boire; car en agissant ainsi tu entasseras des charbons de feu sur sa tête. »
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Ne sois pas subjugué par le mal, mais subjugue le mal par le bien.
