Revelation 3
1 AND to the angel of the church in Sardis write, These things saith he that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, and that thou hast a name, as though thou wert alive, yet art dead.
»Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Sardes schreibe: So spricht der, der die sieben Geister Gottes und die sieben Sterne hat: Ich kenne deine Werke: du stehst in dem Rufe, daß du lebest, und bist doch tot.
2 Be vigilant and strengthen the things which remain, which are ready to die; for I have not found thy works complete before God.
Wache auf und stärke die übrigen (Gemeindeglieder), die nahe am Sterben waren! Denn ich habe deine Werke nicht als vollkommen vor meinem Gott erfunden.
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and observe, and repent. If then thou art not found watching, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt in no wise know at what hour I will come upon thee.
Denke also daran, wie du (die Heilsbotschaft, oder: das Heil) empfangen und vernommen hast, halte daran fest und gehe in dich! Willst du aber nicht wachsam sein, so werde ich wie ein Dieb kommen, und du sollst sicherlich nicht wissen, zu welcher Stunde ich über dich kommen werde.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white robes, for they are worthy.
Du hast jedoch einige Namen in Sardes, die ihre Kleider nicht befleckt haben; diese sollen mit mir in weißen Kleidern einhergehen, denn sie sind dessen würdig.
5 He that overcometh, this man shall be clothed in white robes; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Wer da überwindet, der wird mit weißen Kleidern angetan werden, und ich werde seinen Namen nimmermehr aus dem Buche des Lebens ausstreichen und werde seinen Namen vor meinem Vater und vor seinen Engeln bekennen.
6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt.«
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, These things saith the Holy One, he that is true, who hath the key of David, who openeth, and none shutteth, and shutteth, and no man openeth.
»Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Philadelphia schreibe: So spricht der Heilige, der Wahrhaftige, der den Schlüssel Davids hat, er, der da öffnet, so daß niemand wieder zuschließen wird, und der da zuschließt, so daß? niemand wieder öffnet:
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it; because thou hast but little strength, yet hast thou kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Ich kenne deine Werke. Siehe, ich habe eine offene Tür vor dir angebracht, die niemand zuzuschließen vermag; denn du besitzest zwar nur geringe Kraft, hast aber doch an meinem Wort festgehalten und meinen Namen nicht verleugnet.
9 Behold, I give thee out of Satan’s synagogue those who say they are Jews, yet they are not, but do lie. Lo! I will make them that they shall come and prostrate themselves at thy feet, and they shall know that I have loved thee.
Siehe, ich füge es so: aus der Synagoge des Satans, von den Leuten, die sich Juden nennen, aber es nicht sind, sondern lügen – siehe, ich will sie dahin bringen, daß sie kommen und sich vor deinen Füßen niederwerfen und erkennen, daß ich dich geliebt habe.
10 Because thou hast keep the word of my patience, I also will preserve thee from the hour of temptation, which is coming upon the whole habitable globe to try the dwellers upon earth.
Weil du das Wort vom standhaften Warten auf mich bewahrt hast, will auch ich dich bewahren aus der Stunde der Versuchung, die über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen wird, um die Bewohner der Erde zu versuchen.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold fast that thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Ich komme bald: halte fest, was du hast, damit niemand dir deine Krone raube!
12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall never more go out from thence: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.
Wer da überwindet, den werde ich zu einer Säule im Tempel meines Gottes machen, und er wird seinen Platz dort nie wieder verlieren, und ich werde auf ihn den Namen meines Gottes schreiben und den Namen der Stadt meines Gottes, des neuen Jerusalem, das aus dem Himmel von meinem Gott herabkommt, und auch meinen neuen Namen.
13 He that hath an ear to hear, let him ear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt.«
14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of the creation of God;
»Und dem Engel der Gemeinde in Laodizea schreibe: So spricht der, welcher (das) Amen ist, der treue und wahrhaftige Zeuge, der Anfang der Schöpfung Gottes:
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:
Ich kenne deine Werke, (ich weiß) daß du weder kalt noch heiß bist. O, daß du kalt oder heiß wärest!
16 I wish thou wert cold or hot. So because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit thee out of my mouth:
So aber, weil du lau bist und weder heiß noch kalt, will ich dich aus meinem Munde ausspeien.
17 because thou sayest, I am rich, and wallow in wealth, and have no want unsupplied; yet thou knowest not that thou art wretched, and pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
Weil du sagst: ›Ich bin reich, ja reich bin ich geworden und habe an nichts Mangel‹, und weil du nicht weißt, daß gerade du elend und erbarmenswert, arm, blind und nackt bist,
18 I advise thee to buy of me gold purified by the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white robes, that thou mayest be completely clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thine eyes with a collyrium, that thou mayest see.
so rate ich dir: kaufe dir Gold von mir, das durch Feuer geläutert ist, damit du reich wirst, und weiße Kleider, damit du sie anziehst und die Schande deiner Blöße nicht zutage tritt, und Augensalbe zum Bestreichen deiner Augen, damit du sehen kannst.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and correct: be zealous then, and repent.
Ich überführe und züchtige alle, die ich lieb habe. So sei nun eifrig und gehe in dich!
20 Lo! I stand at the door, and knock: if any person hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and I will sup with him, and he with me.
Siehe, ich stehe vor der Tür und klopfe an; wenn jemand meine Stimme hört und die Tür auftut, so werde ich bei ihm eintreten und das Mahl mit ihm halten und er mit mir.
21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit on my throne, as I also have overcome, and have sat down with my Father on his throne.
Wer da überwindet, dem werde ich verleihen, mit mir auf meinem Thron zu sitzen, wie auch ich überwunden und mich mit meinem Vater auf seinen Thron gesetzt habe.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Wer ein Ohr hat, der höre, was der Geist den Gemeinden sagt.«
