Matthew 4
1 THEN was Jesus led away by the spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.
Hierauf wurde Jesus vom Geiste in die Wüste geführt, um vom Teufel versucht zu werden.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he became hungry.
Und als er vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte gefastet hatte, hungerte ihn zuletzt.
3 And the tempter coming to him said, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones be made loaves.
Und der Versucher trat herzu und sagte zu ihm: wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so sprich, daß diese Steine Brot werden.
4 But he answering said, It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Er aber antwortete also: es steht geschrieben: nicht vom Brot allein soll der Mensch leben, sondern von jedem Wort, welches durch Gottes Mund ausgeht.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and placed him on a wing of the temple,
Hierauf nimmt ihn der Teufel mit sich in die heilige Stadt und stellt ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels,
6 and saith to him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, “that he shall give his angels a charge concerning thee: and in their hands shall they hold thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
und sagt zu ihm: wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürze dich hinab; denn es steht geschrieben: er wird seinen Engeln Befehl geben deinetwegen und sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, daß du deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stoßest.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, “Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.”
Sagte Jesus zu ihm: wiederum steht geschrieben: du sollst den Herrn deinen Gott nicht versuchen.
8 Again the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory;
Wiederum nimmt ihn der Teufel mit auf einen sehr hohen Berg und zeigt ihm alle Reiche der Welt und ihre Herrlichkeit
9 and saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall prostrate and worship me.
und sagte zu ihm: dies alles will ich dir geben, wenn du niederfällst und mir huldigst.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Avaunt Satan! for it is written, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and to him only thou pay divine adoration.”
Hierauf sagt Jesus zu ihm: entweiche, Satan; denn es steht geschrieben: du sollst dem Herrn deinem Gott huldigen und ihn allein anbeten.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and lo! angels came and ministered unto him.
Hierauf läßt ihn der Teufel, und siehe, Engel kamen herzu und dienten ihm.
12 But when Jesus heard that John was cast into prison, he retired into Galilee;
Als er aber hörte, daß Johannes verhaftet sei, zog er sich zurück nach Galiläa;
13 and leaving Nazareth, he came and resided at Capernaum, a maritime city, on the confines of Zebulun and Nephthali:
und er verließ Nazara und zog nach Kapernaum, das am See liegt im Gebiete von Sebulon und Naphthali,
14 that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, saying,
damit erfüllt würde, was gesagt ist in dem Wort des Propheten Jesaias:
15 “The land of Zabulun, and the land of Naphthali, the road to the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
Land Sebulon und Land Naphthali, am Meer hin, und jenseit des Jordan, Galiläa der Heiden,
16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light; and on those who sat in the region and shadow of death, even on them hath the light arisen.”
das Volk, welches in Finsternis sitzt, ein großes Licht hat es erblickt, und denen, die im Todes-Land und Schatten sitzen, ein Licht ist ihnen aufgegangen.
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is approaching.
Von da an begann Jesus zu verkünden und zu sagen: Thut Buße, denn das Reich der Himmel ist herbeigekommen.
18 And as Jesus was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
Da er aber am See von Galiläa wandelte, sah er zwei Brüder, Simon, genannt Petrus, und seinen Bruder Andreas, wie sie ein Fangnetz in den See warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
19 And he saith to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Und er sagt zu ihnen: kommet mir nach, so will ich euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
20 Then immediately quitting their nets they followed him.
Sie aber ließen alsbald die Netze und folgten ihm.
21 And going on from thence, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
Und er gieng weiter von da und sah zwei andere Brüder, Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und seinen Bruder Johannes, im Schiff mit ihrem Vater Zebedäus an der Ausbesserung der Netze; und er berief sie.
22 Then they instantly quitting the ship and their father, followed him.
Sie aber verließen alsbald das Schiff und ihren Vater, und folgten ihm.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every malady among the people.
Und er zog umher in ganz Galiläa und lehrte in ihren Synagogen, und verkündete das Evangelium vom Reich, und heilte alle Krankheit und alle Gebrechen unter dem Volk,
24 And there went out a report of him into all Syria: and they brought unto him all who had illness, the afflicted with various diseases and painful complaints, and the demoniacs, and lunatics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
und es gieng sein Ruf aus über ganz Syria; und sie brachten zu ihm alle die ein Leiden hatten, mit mancherlei Krankheiten und schmerzhaften Uebeln Behaftete, Dämonische, Mondsüchtige und Gelähmte, und er heilte sie.
25 And great multitudes followed him from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond Jordan.
Und es folgten ihm große Massen von Galiläa und der Dekapolis und Jerusalem und Judäa und dem Land jenseit des Jordan.
