< Matthew 22 >

1 AND Jesus continuing his discourse, spake again to them in parables, saying,
Yesu de mmɛbuo ahodoɔ kyerɛɛ sɛdeɛ Ɔsoro Ahennie no teɛ.
2 The kingdom of heaven is like to a certain king, who made a marriage-feast for his son:
Ɔse, “Ɔsoro Ahennie no te sɛ ɔhene bi a ne babarima hyiaa ayeforɔ na ɔtoo pon maa no.
3 and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the entertainment: and they would not come.
Ɔtoo nsa frɛɛ nnipa pii. Ɛberɛ no duruiɛ no, ɔsomaa nʼasomfoɔ sɛ wɔnkɔfrɛfrɛ nnipa no na wɔmmra. Nanso, nnipa no amma.
4 Again he sent other servants, saying, Tell those who have been invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and the fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come unto the marriage-feast.
“Ɔsane somaa nʼasomfoɔ foforɔ sɛ, ‘Monkɔka nkyerɛ wɔn sɛ, wɔawie biribiara. Wɔakum mʼanantwie ne me nyɛmmoa de anoa aduane awie. Mommra ayeforɔ no ase mmɛdidi!’
5 But they gave themselves no concern about it, and went their several ways, one to his own farm, and another to his traffick:
“Nanso, ne ho yɛɛ wɔn a ɔtoo nsa frɛɛ wɔn no sere. Obiara kɔdii ne dwuma. Obi kɔɔ nʼafuom. Ɔfoforɔ nso kɔdii ne dwa.
6 And the rest seizing his servants, insulted and slew them.
Afoforɔ nso kyeree nʼasomfoɔ no hwee wɔn, pirapiraa wɔn, kunkumm ebinom nso.
7 Then the king, when he heard it, was incensed: and sending out his armies, destroyed these murderers, and burnt down their city.
Ɔhene no tee deɛ nnipa no ayɛ nʼasomfoɔ no, ne bo fuiɛ. Ɔsomaa nʼasraafoɔ ma wɔkɔkunkum awudifoɔ no, hyee wɔn kuro no pasaa.
8 Then he said to his servants, The wedding entertainment indeed is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy:
“Ɔsane frɛɛ nʼasomfoɔ ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, ‘Wɔawie ayeforɔ aduane no. Nanso, wɔn a mefrɛɛ wɔn no mfata sɛ wɔba apontoɔ no ase.
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the roads, and as many as ye find, invite to the banquet.
Enti, monkɔ mmɔntene so na obiara a mobɛhunu no no, momfrɛ no mmra apontoɔ no ase.’
10 So these servants going out into the roads, collected all, as many as they found, both bad and good; and the wedding feast was fully furnished with guests.
Asomfoɔ no firii adi kɔɔ mmɔntene so kɔfrɛɛ nnipa dodoɔ a wɔhunuu wɔn no nyinaa. Wɔfrɛɛ nnipa pa ne nnipa bɔne, maa ɛdan a wɔtoo ɛpono wɔ mu no yɛɛ ma.
11 Then the king coming in to look around on the guests, saw there a man who had not put on the wedding garment:
“Ɔhene no baa hɔ sɛ ɔrebɛhwɛ nnipa a wɔaba no, ɔhunuu obi a ɔnhyɛ ayeforɔhyia atadeɛ wɔ hɔ.
12 and he saith to him, Friend, how came thou in here, not having the garment provided for the marriage feast? And he was speechless.
Ɔbisaa no sɛ, ‘Damfo, ɛyɛɛ dɛn na wonhyɛ ayeforɔhyia atadeɛ, na wotumi baa ha?’ Nanso, damfo no antumi ammua.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind his feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him into the darkness, which is without; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
“Afei, ɔhene no ka kyerɛɛ nʼasomfoɔ no sɛ, ‘Monkyekyere ne nan ne ne nsa na monkɔto no ntwene akyirikyiri esum mu, deɛ esu ne agyaadwoɔ wɔ no.’
14 For many are called, but few elect.
“Wɔafrɛ bebree, nanso kakra bi na wɔayi wɔn.”
15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel together how they might lay a snare to entrap him in his discourse.
Farisifoɔ no tuu Yesu ho agyina, pɛɛ ɛkwan bi a wɔnam nʼanom asɛm so bɛnya no akyere no.
16 And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God with veracity; and carest for no man, for thou regardest not the person of men:
Wɔsii no gyinaeɛ sɛ, wɔbɛsoma wɔn nnipa bi ne Herodefoɔ aba Yesu nkyɛn abɛbisa no sɛ, “Owura, yɛnim sɛ woyɛ ɔnokwafoɔ, na wonam nokorɛ kwan so kyerɛ nnipa ɛkwan a ɛkɔ Onyankopɔn nkyɛn a wonsuro akyire asɛm, ɛfiri sɛ, wonhwɛ nnipa anim.
17 tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to pay tribute to Caesar, or not?
Ka ma yɛntie. Ɛyɛ sɛ wɔyi toɔ ma Roma Hempɔn Kaesare anaa ɛnyɛ?”
18 But Jesus knew their wicked design, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
Yesu hunuu wɔn adwemmɔne no ma ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Mo nyaatwomfoɔ! Adɛn enti na mopɛ sɛ mode nnaadaa sɔ me hwɛ?
19 Shew me the money for the tribute; and they brought him a denarius.
Momfa sika a wɔde yi toɔ no bi nkyerɛ me.” Wɔde bi kyerɛɛ no.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose figure is this and inscription?
Ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Hwan mfoni na ɛda so, na hwan din nso na ɛwɔ so?”
21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he to them, Render therefore to Caesar, the things which are Caesar’s; and to God, the things which are God’s.
Wɔbuaa sɛ, “Kaesare.” Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Ɛnneɛ, momfa Kaesare deɛ mma Kaesare, na momfa Onyankopɔn deɛ mma Onyankopɔn.”
22 And when they heard him, they marvelled, and leaving him, went away.
Ne mmuaeɛ a ɔmaa wɔn no maa wɔn ho dwirii wɔn ma wɔgyaa no hɔ kɔeɛ.
23 On the same day the Sadducees came to him, who say, that there is no resurrection, and they put a question to him,
Ɛda no ara, Sadukifoɔ a wɔnnye owusɔreɛ nni no baa Yesu nkyɛn bɛbisaa no sɛ,
24 saying, Master, Moses said, “If a man die having no children, his brother in right of affinity shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.”
“Owura, Mose kaa sɛ, ‘Sɛ ɔbarima bi anwo na ɔwu a, ne nuabarima mfa ne yere no kunabaa na ɔne no nwo mma owufoɔ no.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers; and the first marrying, died, and had no offspring, and left his wife to his brother;
Anuanom baason bi ne yɛn tenaa ha. Ɔpanin no wareeɛ a wanwo ba na ɔwuiɛ. Enti, ne nua a ɔtɔ so mmienu no faa ne yere no kunabaa.
26 likewise the second also; then the third; so on to the seven.
Deɛ ɔtɔ so mmienu no nso wuiɛ, maa deɛ ɔtɔ so mmiɛnsa no faa ɔbaa no kunabaa. Ɔno nso wuiɛ a wanwo ba, maa ɔfoforɔ nso faa ɔbaa no kunabaa. Yei toaa so ara kɔsii sɛ anuanom baason no nyinaa waree ɔbaa no.
27 Last of all the woman died also.
Deɛ ɛdi akyire ne sɛ, ɔbaa no nso wuiɛ.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
Ɛno enti, owusɔreberɛ no, nnipa baason yi mu hwan na ɔbaa no bɛyɛ ne yere? Ɛfiri sɛ wɔn nyinaa waree no!’”
29 Jesus then answering, said unto them, Ye are in an error, from not knowing the Scriptures, and the power of God.
Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mo mfomsoɔ a moayɛ no firi nim a monnim Atwerɛsɛm no ne Onyankopɔn tumi a ɔwɔ no!
30 For at the resurrection, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Na owusɔreberɛ no, awadeɛ nni hɔ; obiara bɛyɛ sɛ abɔfoɔ a wɔwɔ ɔsoro no.
31 But with respect to the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what was spoken to you of God, saying,
Afei, ɛfa owusɔreɛ no ho no nso, monnkanee deɛ Onyankopɔn aka afa ho no pɛn? Monhunu sɛ Onyankopɔn kasa kyerɛɛ mo ɛberɛ a ɔkaa sɛ,
32 “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?” God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
‘Mene Abraham Onyankopɔn, Isak Onyankopɔn ne Yakob Onyankopɔn no?’ Yei kyerɛ sɛ. Onyankopɔn nyɛ awufoɔ Onyankopɔn na mmom, ateasefoɔ Onyankopɔn.”
33 And when the multitude heard it, they were amazingly struck with his doctrine.
Nnipadɔm no tee ne nkyerɛkyerɛ no, ɛyɛɛ wɔn nwanwa.
34 But the Pharisees hearing that he had stopped the Sadducees’ mouths, they assembled together:
Farisifoɔ no tee sɛ Yesu abu afa Sadukifoɔ no so no, wɔkɔhyiaa Yesu.
35 and one of them, a teacher of the law, put a question to him, to make trial of him, and said,
Wɔn mu baako a ɔyɛ mmaranimfoɔ bisaa Yesu sɛ,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
“Owura, Mose mmaransɛm no mu deɛ ɛwɔ he koraa na ɛkyɛn ne nyinaa?”
37 Then Jesus said to him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
Yesu buaa no sɛ, “‘Dɔ Awurade, wo Onyankopɔn, wʼakoma nyinaa mu ne wo ɔkra nyinaa mu ne wʼadwene nyinaa mu.’
38 This is the first and great commandment.
Yei ne mmaransɛm no mu deɛ ɛdi ɛkan na ɛkyɛn ne nyinaa.
39 And the second is like to it, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Deɛ ɛtɔ so mmienu no te sɛ ɛno ara: ‘Dɔ wo yɔnko sɛ wo ho.’
40 On these two commandments, the whole law and the prophets depend.
Mose mmaransɛm ne adiyifoɔ no nkyerɛkyerɛ no nyinaa gyina saa mmaransɛm mmienu yi so.”
41 The Pharisees being then assembled, Jesus put a question to them,
Farisifoɔ no twaa Yesu ho hyiaeɛ no, ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ,
42 saying, What think ye of the Messiah, whose son is he? They say unto him, David’s.
“Ɛdeɛn na mowɔ ka wɔ Agyenkwa no ho? Hwan ba ne no?” Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Dawid Ba.”
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David by the Spirit call him Lord? saying,
Yesu bisaa wɔn sɛ “Ɛnneɛ, adɛn na Dawid nam Honhom Kronkron so frɛ no ‘Awurade’? Ɛfiri sɛ, Dawid kaa sɛ,
44 “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I put thine enemies as a footstool for thy feet.”
“‘Awurade ka kyerɛɛ me wura sɛ, “Tena me nifa kɔsi sɛ mɛma woadi wʼatamfoɔ nyinaa so.”’
45 If then David calleth him Lord, how is he his son?
Sɛ Dawid frɛ no ‘Awurade’ a, ɛnneɛ ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na watumi ayɛ ne ba?”
46 And no man could answer him a word, neither durst any man, from that day, interrogate him any more.
Obiara antumi ammua. Yei akyi nso, obiara antumi ammisa no nsɛm bio.
