Matthew 19
1 AND it came to pass when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond Jordan.
イエスはこれらの言葉を語り終えると，ガリラヤを去って，ヨルダンの向こうのユダヤ地方に入った。
2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
大群衆が彼に従った。そこで彼はその場所で彼らをいやした。
3 And the Pharisees came to him, tempting him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
ファリサイ人たちがやって来て，彼を試そうとして言った，「どんな理由でも，男が自分の妻を離縁することは許されているのですか」。
4 But he replying, said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who created them from the beginning, created them male and female?
彼は答えた，「あなた方は読んだことがないのか。人を造られた方は，はじめから彼らを男性と女性に造られ，
5 And he said, for this reason shall a man forsake father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
そして，『このために，男は自分の父と母を離れて，自分の妻と結び付く。こうして二人は一体となる』と言われたのを。
6 Wherefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath yoked together, let no man separate.
それで，彼らはもはや二つではなく，一体なのだ。だから，神が結び合わされたものを，人が引き離してはいけない」 。
7 They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give her a bill of divorce, and to put her away?
彼らは彼に尋ねた，「それでは，なぜモーセは，離縁状を与えて妻を離縁することをわたしたちに命じたのですか」。
8 He saith unto them, It was on account of the hardness of your hearts that Moses gave you permission to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not thus.
彼は彼らに言った，「モーセは，あなた方の心のかたくなさのゆえに，あなた方が自分の妻を離縁することを容認したのであって，はじめからそうだったわけではない。
9 And I tell you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for whoredom, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth the divorced woman, committeth adultery.
あなた方に告げるが，淫行以外の理由で自分の妻を離縁して別の女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのであり，離縁された女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのだ」 。
10 His disciples said unto him, If the case of a man with his wife be thus, it is not expedient to marry.
弟子たちは彼に言った，「妻についての男の実情がそのようなものであれば，結婚するのはうまいことではありません」。
11 Then he said to them, All men are not capable of receiving this saying, but they to whom it is given.
しかし彼は彼らに言った，「すべての人がこの言葉を受け入れることができるわけではなく，授けられている人たちだけがそうできる。
12 For there are eunuchs, who were so from their mothers’ womb; and there are eunuchs, who have been made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that is capable of receiving, let him receive it.
母の胎からそのように生まれついた去勢者がおり，人に去勢させられた去勢者がおり，天の王国のために自分を去勢した去勢者がいるからだ。それを受け入れることができる者は，受け入れなさい」 。
13 Then were brought to him little children, that he should lay his hands upon them, and pray for them: but the disciples rebuked them.
その時，その上に両手を置いて祈ってもらおうとして，幼子たちが彼のもとに連れて来られたが，弟子たちは彼らをしかりつけた。
14 Then said Jesus, Permit little children, and hinder them not from coming to me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
しかしイエスは言った，「幼子たちをそのままにしておきなさい。彼らがわたしのところに来るのをとどめてはいけない。天の王国はこのような者たちのものだからだ」 。
15 And when he had laid his hands upon them, he departed thence.
両手を彼らの上に置いてから，そこを去って行った。
16 And lo! a person coming to him, said, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, in order to attain eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
見よ，ある人が彼に近寄って来て言った，「善い先生，永遠の命を得るためには，どんな善いことをしたらよいでしょうか」。 (aiōnios g166)
17 Then he said to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, even God: but if thou art desirous of entering into life, keep the commandments.
イエスは彼に言った，「なぜ，わたしのことを善いと呼ぶのか。神おひとりのほかに善い者はいない。だが，命に入りたいなら，おきてを守りなさい」 。
18 He saith unto him, Which? Then said Jesus, these, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
彼はイエスに言った，「どのおきてですか」。 イエスは言った，「『あなたは殺してはならない』，『あなたは姦淫を犯してはならない』，『あなたは盗んではならない』，『あなたは偽りの証言をしてはならない』，
19 Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
『あなたの父と母を敬いなさい』，そして，『あなたは隣人を自分自身のように愛さなければならない』」 。
20 The young man saith to him, All these things have I observed from my youth: in what am I still deficient?
その若者はイエスに言った，「わたしはそうした事すべてを幼いころから守ってきました。まだ何が足りないのでしょうか」。
21 Jesus said to him, If thou art desirous to be perfect, go, sell all thy substance, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
イエスは彼に言った，「もしあなたが完全でありたいと思うなら，行って，持ち物を売り，貧しい人たちに与えなさい。そうすれば，天に宝を持つことになる。それから来て，わたしに従いなさい」 。
22 Now when the young man heard this speech, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
しかし，この言葉を聞くと，その若者は悲しそうに去って行った。多くの資産を持っていたからである。
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That very difficultly shall a rich man enter into the kingdom of heaven.
イエスは弟子たちに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に言う。富んだ人が天の王国に入るのは難しいことだ。
24 And again I repeat it to you, It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
重ねて，あなた方に告げる。富んだ人が神の王国に入るよりは，ラクダが針の穴を通り抜ける方が易しいのだ」 。
25 But when his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
これを聞いて，弟子たちは非常に驚いて言った，「いったいだれが救いを得られるのだろう」。
26 And Jesus looking upon them, said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
イエスは彼らを見つめて言った，「人には不可能だが，神にはすべての事が可能だ」 。
27 Then Peter addressing him, said unto him, Lo! we have left all and followed thee; what, I pray thee, shall we receive?
その時，ペトロが彼に答えた，「ご覧ください，わたしたちは何もかも後にして，あなたに従いました。それで，わたしたちは何を持つことになるのでしょうか」。
28 Then said Jesus unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
イエスは彼らに言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，再生の際，人の子が自分の栄光の座に着くときには，わたしに従ってきたあなた方も十二の座に着き，イスラエルの十二部族を裁くだろう。
29 And every one who hath left family, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name sake, shall receive an hundred fold, and shall inherit life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
わたしの名のために，家々，兄弟たち，姉妹たち，父，母，妻，子供たち，あるいは畑を後にする者は，その百倍を受け，また永遠の命を受け継ぐことになる。 (aiōnios g166)
30 But many, now first, will be the last; and last, who will be the first.
だが，多くの最初の者が最後に，最後の者が最初になるだろう。
