Matthew 14
1 AT that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report of Jesus,
ตทานีํ ราชา เหโรทฺ ยีโศ รฺยศ: ศฺรุตฺวา นิชทาเสยานฺ ชคาทฺ,
2 and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore miracles are wrought by him.
เอษ มชฺชยิตา โยหนฺ, ปฺรมิเตภยสฺตโสฺยตฺถานาตฺ เตเนตฺถมทฺภุตํ กรฺมฺม ปฺรกาศฺยเตฯ
3 For Herod having seized John, had bound him, and put him in prison, for the sake of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother.
ปุรา เหโรทฺ นิชภฺราตุ: ผิลิโป ชายายา เหโรทียายา อนุโรธาทฺ โยหนํ ธารยิตฺวา พทฺธา การายำ สฺถาปิตวานฺฯ
4 For John said unto him, It is unlawful for thee to have her.
ยโต โยหนฺ อุกฺตวานฺ, เอตฺสยา: สํคฺรโห ภวโต โนจิต: ฯ
5 And though he wished to kill him, he was afraid of the multitude, for they held him as a prophet.
ตสฺมาตฺ นฺฤปติสฺตํ หนฺตุมิจฺฉนฺนปิ โลเกโภฺย วิภยาญฺจการ; ยต: สรฺเวฺว โยหนํ ภวิษฺยทฺวาทินํ เมนิเรฯ
6 But when Herod’s birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced in the circle, and pleased Herod:
กินฺตุ เหโรโท ชนฺมาหียมห อุปสฺถิเต เหโรทียายา ทุหิตา เตษำ สมกฺษํ นฺฤติตฺวา เหโรทมปฺรีณฺยตฺฯ
7 so that with an oath he promised to give her whatever she should ask.
ตสฺมาตฺ ภูปติ: ศปถํ กุรฺวฺวนฺ อิติ ปฺรตฺยชฺญาสีตฺ, ตฺวยา ยทฺ ยาจฺยเต, ตเทวาหํ ทาสฺยามิฯ
8 And she, being previously urged on by her mother, said, Give me here, in a spacious dish, the head of John the Baptist.
สา กุมารี สฺวียมาตุ: ศิกฺษำ ลพฺธา พภาเษ, มชฺชยิตุโรฺยหน อุตฺตมางฺคํ ภาชเน สมานีย มหฺยํ วิศฺราณยฯ
9 And the king was grieved: but for his oath’s sake, and on account of those who were with him, he commanded it to be given her.
ตโต ราชา ศุโศจ, กินฺตุ โภชนาโยปวิศตำ สงฺคินำ สฺวกฺฤตศปถสฺย จานุโรธาตฺ ตตฺ ปฺรทาตุม อาทิเทศฯ
10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
ปศฺจาตฺ การำ ปฺรติ นรํ ปฺรหิตฺย โยหน อุตฺตมางฺคํ ฉิตฺตฺวา
11 And his head was brought on a large dish, and was given to the young lady: and she brought it to her mother.
ตตฺ ภาชน อานายฺย ตไสฺย กุมารฺไยฺย วฺยศฺราณยตฺ, ตต: สา สฺวชนนฺยา: สมีปํ ตนฺนินายฯ
12 And his disciples came and took the body, and buried it, and they came and told Jesus.
ปศฺจาตฺ โยหน: ศิษฺยา อาคตฺย กายํ นีตฺวา ศฺมศาเน สฺถาปยามาสุสฺตโต ยีโศ: สนฺนิธึ วฺรชิตฺวา ตทฺวารฺตฺตำ พภาษิเรฯ
13 And when Jesus heard it, he withdrew from thence in a vessel into a desert place apart: and when the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
อนนฺตรํ ยีศุริติ นิศภฺย นาวา นิรฺชนสฺถานมฺ เอกากี คตวานฺ, ปศฺจาตฺ มานวาสฺตตฺ ศฺรุตฺวา นานานคเรภฺย อาคตฺย ปไทสฺตตฺปศฺจาทฺ อียุ: ฯ
14 And when Jesus was come forth, he saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion towards them, and healed their sick.
ตทานีํ ยีศุ รฺพหิราคตฺย มหานฺตํ ชนนิวหํ นิรีกฺษฺย เตษุ การุณิก: มนฺ เตษำ ปีฑิตชนานฺ นิรามยานฺ จการฯ
15 But when evening was come, his disciples came unto him, saying, The place is desert, and the day is far advanced; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves provisions.
ตต: ปรํ สนฺธฺยายำ ศิษฺยาสฺตทนฺติกมาคตฺย กถยาญฺจกฺรุ: , อิทํ นิรฺชนสฺถานํ เวลาปฺยวสนฺนา; ตสฺมาตฺ มนุชานฺ สฺวสฺวคฺรามํ คนฺตุํ สฺวารฺถํ ภกฺษฺยาณิ เกฺรตุญฺจ ภวานฺ ตานฺ วิสฺฤชตุฯ
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart: give ye them to eat.
กินฺตุ ยีศุสฺตานวาทีตฺ, เตษำ คมเน ปฺรโยชนํ นาสฺติ, ยูยเมว ตานฺ โภชยตฯ
17 And they said unto him, We have nothing here except five loaves and two fishes.
ตทา เต ปฺรตฺยวทนฺ, อสฺมากมตฺร ปูปปญฺจกํ มีนทฺวยญฺจาเสฺตฯ
18 Then he said, Bring them hither to me.
ตทานีํ เตโนกฺตํ ตานิ มทนฺติกมานยตฯ
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fishes, looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
อนนฺตรํ ส มนุชานฺ ยวโสปรฺยฺยุปเวษฺฏุมฺ อาชฺญาปยามาส; อปร ตตฺ ปูปปญฺจกํ มีนทฺวยญฺจ คฺฤหฺลนฺ สฺวรฺคํ ปฺรติ นิรีกฺเษฺยศฺวรียคุณานฺ อนูทฺย ภํกฺตฺวา ศิเษฺยโภฺย ทตฺตวานฺ, ศิษฺยาศฺจ โลเกโภฺย ททุ: ฯ
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up the superabundance of the fragments, twelve baskets full.
ตต: สรฺเวฺว ภุกฺตฺวา ปริตฺฤปฺตวนฺต: , ตตสฺตทวศิษฺฏภกฺไษฺย: ปูรฺณานฺ ทฺวาทศฑลกานฺ คฺฤหีตวนฺต: ฯ
21 And they who had eaten, were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
เต โภกฺตาร: สฺตฺรีรฺพาลกำศฺจ วิหาย ปฺราเยณ ปญฺจ สหสฺราณิ ปุมำส อาสนฺฯ
22 And immediately Jesus compelled his disciples to go on board the vessel, and pass before him to the other side, while he dismissed the people.
ตทนนฺตรํ ยีศุ โรฺลกานำ วิสรฺชนกาเล ศิษฺยานฺ ตรณิมาโรฒุํ สฺวาเคฺร ปารํ ยาตุญฺจ คาฒมาทิษฺฏวานฺฯ
23 And when he had sent away the multitude, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when evening came, he was there alone.
ตโต โลเกษุ วิสฺฤษฺเฏษุ ส วิวิกฺเต ปฺรารฺถยิตุํ คิริเมกํ คตฺวา สนฺธฺยำ ยาวตฺ ตไตฺรกากี สฺถิตวานฺฯ
24 But the vessel was already in the midst of the sea, tossed with the waves: for the wind was contrary.
กินฺตุ ตทานีํ สมฺมุขวาตตฺวาตฺ สริตฺปเต รฺมเธฺย ตรงฺไคสฺตรณิรฺโทลายมานาภวตฺฯ
25 Then at the fourth watch of the night came Jesus unto them, walking on the sea.
ตทา ส ยามินฺยาศฺจตุรฺถปฺรหเร ปทฺภฺยำ วฺรชนฺ เตษามนฺติกํ คตวานฺฯ
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were greatly agitated, saying, It is his apparition. And they cried out with terror.
กินฺตุ ศิษฺยาสฺตํ สาคโรปริ วฺรชนฺตํ วิโลกฺย สมุทฺวิคฺนา ชคทุ: , เอษ ภูต อิติ ศงฺกมานา อุจฺไจ: ศพฺทายาญฺจกฺริเร จฯ
27 And immediately Jesus spake to them, saying, Be of good courage: it is I; be not terrified.
ตไทว ยีศุสฺตานวทตฺ, สุสฺถิรา ภวต, มา ไภษฺฏ, เอโษ'หมฺฯ
28 Then Peter answering, said, Lord, if it be thou, command me to come unto thee upon the waters.
ตต: ปิตร อิตฺยุกฺตวานฺ, เห ปฺรโภ, ยทิ ภวาเนว, ตรฺหิ มำ ภวตฺสมีปํ ยาตุมาชฺญาปยตุฯ
29 And he said, Come. And descending from the vessel, Peter walked upon the waters to come to Jesus.
ตต: เตนาทิษฺฏ: ปิตรสฺตรณิโต'วรุหฺย ยีเศรนฺติกํ ปฺราปฺตุํ โตโยปริ ววฺราชฯ
30 But seeing the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink in the deep, he cried out, saying, Lord save me.
กินฺตุ ปฺรจณฺฑํ ปวนํ วิโลกฺย ภยาตฺ โตเย มํกฺตุมฺ อาเรเภ, ตสฺมาทฺ อุจฺไจ: ศพฺทายมาน: กถิตวานฺ, เห ปฺรโภ, มามวตุฯ
31 Then immediately Jesus stretching out his hand, laid hold on him, and said to him, O thou of little faith, wherefore dost thou doubt?
ยีศุสฺตตฺกฺษณาตฺ กรํ ปฺรสารฺยฺย ตํ ธรนฺ อุกฺตวานฺ, ห โสฺตกปฺรตฺยยินฺ ตฺวํ กุต: สมเศถา: ?
32 And when they came aboard the vessel, the wind ceased.
อนนฺตรํ ตโยสฺตรณิมารูฒโย: ปวโน นิววฺฤเตฯ
33 And they who were in the vessel, came and worshipped him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.
ตทานีํ เย ตรณฺยามาสนฺ, ต อาคตฺย ตํ ปฺรณภฺย กถิตวนฺต: , ยถารฺถสฺตฺวเมเวศฺวรสุต: ฯ
34 And passing over, they came to the land of Gennesareth.
อนนฺตรํ ปารํ ปฺราปฺย เต คิเนษรนฺนามกํ นครมุปตสฺถุ: ,
35 And when the men of that place knew him, they sent into all that neighbourhood, and brought to him all that had illnesses:
ตทา ตตฺรตฺยา ชนา ยีศุํ ปริจีย ตทฺเทศฺสฺย จตุรฺทิโศ วารฺตฺตำ ปฺรหิตฺย ยตฺร ยาวนฺต: ปีฑิตา อาสนฺ, ตาวเตอว ตทนฺติกมานยามาสุ: ฯ
36 and they besought him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment: and as many as touched it were cured.
อปรํ ตทียวสนสฺย คฺรนฺถิมาตฺรํ สฺปฺรษฺฏุํ วินีย ยาวนฺโต ชนาสฺตตฺ สฺปรฺศํ จกฺริเร, เต สรฺวฺเวอว นิรามยา พภูวุ: ฯ
