Mark 7
1 AND the Pharisees, and some of the scribes, who came from Jerusalem, collected together around him.
Et auprès de lui se réunissent les pharisiens et quelques-uns des scribes venus de Jérusalem;
2 And seeing some of his disciples eating bread with hands unclean, that is, unwashed, they found fault.
et ayant vu que quelques-uns de ses disciples prenaient leur repas avec des mains souillées, c'est-à-dire non lavées…
3 For the Pharisees and all the Jews, unless they wash their hands to the wrist, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
(car les pharisiens et tous les Juifs ne mangent point qu'ils ne se soient lavé les mains à poing fermé, conformément à la tradition des anciens,
4 And coming from the market, unless they have washed, they never eat. And there are many other things which they have by tradition received to observe, as the washings of cups, and pots, and vessels of brass, and couches.
et lorsqu'ils viennent de la place publique ils ne mangent point, qu'ils ne se soient purifiés, et il est plusieurs autres observances qui leur ont été transmises, comme les lavages des coupes, et des brocs, et des vases d'airain)…
5 Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, Why do not thy disciples walk conformable to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?
Et les pharisiens et les scribes lui demandent: « Pourquoi tes disciples ne se conforment-ils pas à la tradition des anciens, mais prennent-ils leurs repas avec des mains souillées? »
6 Then he answering said to them, Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, “This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mais il leur dit: « Comme Ésaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous autres hypocrites, selon qu'il est écrit: Ce peuple-ci M'honore des lèvres, tandis que leur cœur est bien éloigné de Moi;
7 Now vainly do they worship me, while teaching doctrines the commandments of men.”
Mais c'est vainement qu'ils Me révèrent, en enseignant des doctrines qui sont des commandements d'hommes.
8 For leaving the command of God, ye adhere to the tradition of men, the washings of pots and cups; and many other such like things ye practise.
Mettant de côté le commandement de Dieu, vous retenez la tradition des hommes. »
9 And he said to them, Strangely do ye make void the command of God, that ye may observe your tradition.
Et il leur disait: « Comme vous savez bien abroger le commandement de Dieu, afin d'observer votre tradition;
10 For Moses said, “Honour thy father and thy mother:” and “he that curseth father or mother, let him assuredly be put to death.”
car Moïse a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère, et: Que celui qui maudit père ou mère soit mis à mort;
11 But ye affirm, If a man say to his father or mother, it is Corban (that is, a gift), which otherwise might have been advantageous to thee from me;
mais vous, vous dites: « Si un homme dit à son père ou à sa mère: Corban (c'est-à-dire offrande) est fait de ce dont je pourrais t'assister, »
12 then ye permit him no more to do any thing for his father, or his mother;
vous ne lui permettez plus de rien faire pour son père ou sa mère,
13 abrogating the word of God by the tradition, which ye have transmitted down; and many such like things ye do.
abrogeant la parole de Dieu par la tradition que vous avez transmise. Et vous faites beaucoup de choses semblables à celles-là. »
14 And he called to him all the multitude, and said unto them, hear me all of you, and understand.
Et ayant de nouveau appelé à lui la foule, il leur dit: « Écoutez-moi tous, et comprenez!
15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him, can make him unclean: but the things which come out from him, these are the things which make a man unclean.
Rien de ce qui du dehors de l'homme entre en lui ne le souille, mais c'est ce qui sort de l'homme qui souille l'homme. [
16 If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Si quelqu'un a des oreilles pour entendre, qu'il entende.] »
17 And when he was come into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
Et lorsqu'il fut rentré au logis loin de la foule, les disciples l'interrogeaient sur cette parabole.
18 And he saith to them, Are ye also so defective of intelligence? Do you not consider, that every thing from without that entereth into a man, cannot make him unclean?
Et il leur dit: « Ainsi, vous aussi, vous êtes sans intelligence! Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui du dehors entre dans l'homme ne peut pas le souiller,
19 because it entereth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the vault, carrying off all the impurities of the food.
car cela n'entre pas dans son cœur; mais dans son ventre, et de là va au retrait, lequel purifie tous les aliments. »
20 But, said he, what cometh out of a man, that makes a man unclean.
Mais il disait: « Ce qui sort de l'homme? voilà ce qui souille l'homme;
21 For from within out of the heart of men proceed wicked reasonings, adulteries, whoredoms, murders,
car c'est du dedans, c'est du cœur des hommes, que sortent les mauvaises pensées, les impudicités,
22 thefts, inordinate cravings, mischievous actions, knavery, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, folly:
les larcins, les meurtres, les adultères, les cupidités, les méchancetés, la ruse, la débauche, l'envie, la calomnie, l'orgueil, la déraison.
23 all these wicked things come from within, and render a person unclean.
Toutes ces mauvaises choses sortent du dedans et souillent l'homme. »
24 And rising, he departed thence into the confines of Tyre and Sidon; and entering into a house, desired that no man should know it: yet he could not be hid.
Or s'étant éloigné de là, il s'en alla dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon, et étant entré dans une maison, il voulait que personne ne le sût. Et il ne put demeurer caché,
25 For a woman hearing of him, whose daughter had an unclean spirit, came and fell at his feet.
mais aussitôt une femme dont la fille avait un esprit impur ayant ouï parler de lui, vint se jeter à ses pieds.
26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by birth, and she entreated him that the devil might be cast out of her daughter.
Or cette femme était grecque, syrienne, phénicienne d'origine, et elle l'implorait afin qu'il chassât le démon hors de sa fille.
27 And Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be fed, for it is not proper to take the children’s bread, and throw it to the dogs.
Et il lui disait: « Laisse d'abord les enfants se rassasier; car il n'est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants et de le jeter aux petits chiens. »
28 But she replied, and said to him, True, Lord, yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.
Mais elle répliqua et lui dit: « Assurément, Seigneur! Les petits chiens aussi sous la table mangent une partie des miettes des petits enfants. »
29 And he said unto her, For this speech, go home, the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Et il lui dit: « A cause de cette parole, va, le démon est sorti de ta fille. »
30 And going to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid on a couch.
Et s'en étant allée dans sa maison, elle trouva la petite fille couchée sur son lit, et le démon sorti.
31 And again departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
Et étant ressorti du territoire de Tyr, il vint, en traversant Sidon, vers la mer de Galilée, par le milieu du territoire de la Décapole.
32 And they bring him a deaf man, who could scarcely articulate; and they entreat him to put his hand upon him.
Et on lui amène un sourd dont la voix était confuse, et on le sollicite afin qu'il pose la main sur lui.
33 And he took him aside out of the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, he touched his tongue;
Et l'ayant emmené à l'écart loin de la foule, il mit ses doigts dans ses oreilles, et ayant craché, il toucha sa langue;
34 and looking up to heaven, he heaved a deep sigh, and saith unto him, Ephphatha! that is, Be opened.
puis, ayant levé les yeux vers le ciel, il soupira, et lui dit: « Ephphatha, » ce qui signifie: « Ouvre-toi. »
35 And instantly his ears were opened, and the tie of his tongue loosed, and he spake distinctly.
Et ses oreilles s'ouvrirent, et le lien de sa langue se délia, et il parlait régulièrement.
36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged, the more abundantly they published it abroad.
Et il leur enjoignit de n'en parler à personne; mais plus il le leur interdisait, d'autant plus s'empressaient-ils de le proclamer;
37 And they were astonished beyond all imagination, saying, He hath done all things admirably; he maketh even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
et ils étaient dans une stupéfaction extrême, et disaient: « Il a tout fait d'une manière admirable, puisqu'il fait même ouïr les sourds et parler ceux qui sont sans voix. »
